Chapter 863 Avery Got Married to Someone Else
Edgar stood still, saying nothing.
"I can help her with whatever she needs," Edgar said softly as the lawyer was about to leave.
As expected, he could do nothing.
"No need, Ms. Hawthorne and Mr. Murray have already married. From now on, all matters concerning Ms. Hawthorne will be handled by Mr. Murray," the lawyer said apologetically.
Edgar's body stiffened suddenly, and his fingers trembled involuntarily.
He seemed to not believe what he had heard and grabbed the lawyer by the collar. "What did you say?"
"Ms. Hawthorne and Mr. Murray have already married." the lawyer said nervously.
Edgar, with red-rimmed eyes, pushed the lawyer away and rushed to the police station.
Why did Avery do this?
Did she think Rhett could give her everything she wanted or save her?
"Avery!" Edgar shouted with red eyes, causing a commotion at the police station.
Avery, after finishing her statement, saw Edgar breathing heavily, his chest heaving as he looked at her.
She stood still, looking at Edgar being held back by the police. "You really never learn to grow up."
"Why did you marry him, why!" Edgar just wanted an explanation.
What did their relationship mean during this time?
"Because he can give me what you can't," Avery said calmly, looking at Edgar. After a long pause, she spoke again. "Edgar, it was just a fling. You won't take it seriously, will you? I remember you said the same thing to your friends back then."
Edgar clenched his fists tightly. "Avery, do you have to treat me like this?"
Avery laughed. "If you came to see me make a fool of myself, then you've succeeded."
Edgar's gaze trembled as he looked at Avery, then turned and left.
Since Avery was so determined to leave him, he wouldn't cling to her anymore.
Sunrise City.
Nolan received a call from Fiona, saying everything was fine, which put him at ease.
"Who are you talking to?" Amelia asked jealously.
Ever since she found out Nolan was dying, her attitude had improved day by day, but she also became more demanding, almost controlling Nolan completely.
It was probably her way of getting revenge.
Nolan, who had never been restrained, actually enjoyed it.
"Fiona," Nolan answered naturally.
But he didn't realize he had already offended Amelia.
She turned away almost immediately, her face darkening.
Nolan quickly grabbed her wrist. "Why are you angry?"
Men never know what will upset her.
"Go find Fiona," Amelia said angrily.
Nolan quickly pulled her into his arms. "Are you jealous of Fiona?"
Amelia felt embarrassed and angry. "Get lost."
Nolan laughed. "Amelia, I admit I was a jerk before, but I swear on my life, I only have sibling feelings for Fiona. She's my half-sister. I'm not that perverted."
Amelia's steps faltered, and she perked up her ears. Did she just hear a Cunningham family secret she shouldn't have? Would she be silenced?
"You two are related by blood?" Amelia turned back, tilting her head and asking.
Although Nolan's life wasn't worth much, with only a few days left to live, thinking about it made Amelia's heart ache, and she felt like crying.
She didn't want him to die.
Even when she hated Nolan the most, she never wished for his death, only that he would die alone.
"Someone deliberately swapped my sister Jasmine with Fiona back then. Fiona is actually the daughter of my dad's mistress. That woman wanted Fiona to inherit the Cunningham family's estate and shares," Nolan explained softly.
Amelia covered her mouth. "So she's the mistress's daughter!"
"That's your focus..." Nolan said helplessly.
"No wonder I never liked her," Amelia muttered softly.
"Fiona is a good person. You're her sister-in-law. You'll like her as you get to know her," Nolan said, pulling Amelia into his arms.
"Is there even a future?" Amelia muttered softly.
Nolan didn't hear her clearly and was about to ask when someone arrived outside the yard.
"Hello, who's in charge here? We're from HHS. We received a complaint that your place doesn't meet hygiene standards."
Arabella was causing trouble again.
"We've already closed down and haven't been operating recently," Nolan explained.
"That doesn't matter. You're running a guesthouse, representing our area. Hygiene must meet standards. You can't make money improperly," the official lectured.
Nolan nodded. "Yes, you're welcome to inspect anytime."
The official was pleased with Nolan's politeness and, after a thorough inspection, realized someone was deliberately causing trouble. "In business, it's inevitable. Don't take it to heart. If there's no issue, you can reopen."
"Someone wants to buy us out, and we refused, so they keep causing trouble," an employee from Amelia's B&B said angrily.
"If business competition turns malicious, they won't last long," the official said before leaving.
"Why do they keep causing trouble? What's their intention?" the employee asked, confused.
"To force us to leave voluntarily," Nolan said seriously, looking at Amelia. "Stay home. I'll go talk to her."
Edward had handled the Wallace family issue well, and Louis hadn't caused any more trouble.
Now it was time to deal with Arabella.
"No way, what if she keeps you as her husband?" Amelia said anxiously, grabbing Nolan.
"She doesn't have that ability, only you do," Nolan said, amused.
"You said you could handle Arabella's threat, but she's still provoking us," Amelia huffed.
"Then come with me and watch the show," Nolan said mysteriously.
Amelia looked at Nolan suspiciously. "What did you do?"
"Using her own methods against her," Nolan said, still mysterious.
Amelia was curious and couldn't wait, pestering Nolan. "What did you do? Tell me."
"I sent an undercover agent to her place and figured out her operation and main profit points. A minor influencer with some online fame is investing such a large amount of money. Given her current traffic, it doesn't support her extravagant promotions every day, hiring celebrities and well-known online influencers to create buzz. What do you think she's earning money from?" Nolan asked, raising an eyebrow.
"What?" Amelia asked innocently.
"She has a large portion of high-end rooms serving high-end clients. Some wealthy bosses who want to relax here get full-service treatment, with beautiful women accompanying them for fun, meals, and sex," Nolan said softly. "No matter how high-end they make it, it's still illegal."
"And they also have gatherings..." Nolan continued.
Amelia quickly covered his mouth, her ears turning red. "Stop talking."
It was too chaotic.
"According to inside information, there's a gathering today. I've already informed the police. Let's go watch the show," Nolan said, holding Amelia's hand as they walked.
On the way, Nolan received a call from Edward. "Nolan, has Edgar come to you?"
"No," Nolan said, puzzled. Hadn't Edgar gone back?
"Edgar is missing."
