Chapter 801 Edward's Obedient Girlfriend

Edward glared. "Nolan, you said you didn't want Amelia anymore? Now you're meddling too much, aren't you? If you're having trouble chasing her, don't drag me into it, okay?"

His wife was about to become official, andhe hoped to take this opportunity to cultivate their tepid affections.

"What's more important, a brother or a woman?" Nolan gritted his teeth.

He knew Edward hadn't been doing his job properly lately.

"Nolan, what were you up to?" Edward complained helplessly.

"You don't even have the skills to catch up the girl you like ?" Nolan teased Edward.

Edward laughed, he had already learned from Ethan and got the marriage license first. "How could I not catch up?""

He lowered his voice, hiding from Hestia as he spoke. "Just by a little trick."

"Then hurry back. You've already caught up your girlfriend, so why are you wasting time there? I haven't caught up Amelia yet," Nolan said reluctantly.

After speaking, Nolan hung up the phone directly.

Edward had no choice but to sigh and look back at Hestia. "Hestia, the boss wants me to go back and work overtime."

Hestia adjusted her glasses and spoke seriously. "The boss personally called you, which means he recognizes and trusts you. Go quickly, you might get a promotion and a raise."

Edward felt Hestia was frighteningly rational. "You expect me to work overtime simply because of a raise and promotion?"

"Of course, the economic foundation determines the superstructure. Just having good looks can't sustain us," Hestia patted Edward's shoulder. "Of course, don't feel too much pressure. I'll also contribute half of the household expenses. Although my salary might not be as high as yours now, that might change in the future."

Edward smiled. It was unlikely her salary would ever surpass his, but he didn't want to dampen Hestia, so he nodded. "Sure. If my exploitative boss ever pushes me too far and I would quit, will you support me then?"

Hestia thought carefully. "Theoretically, I will, but a man must have his own job. Otherwise, you'll feel unbalanced. For your mental health, I suggest you endure it. In the workplace, you have to learn the rules."

Edward felt Hestia was really suited for studying law, she and the law were a perfect match, serious and somehow adorable.

Hestia blushed under Edward's gaze, thinking his aesthetic sense might be a bit odd.

Since childhood, people around her said she was just a bookworm. No boys liked her, and those who tried to flirt with her said she was unromantic. But Edward seemed to like her a lot.

"Well, honey, I have to go to work now." Edward reluctantly opened his arms to Hestia. "Give me a hug."

"No, this is a campus. We can't behave inappropriately," Hestia refused.

Edward felt wronged. "It's just a hug."

Hestia wanted to refuse, but Edward was so handsome, and she couldn't resist him.

So, Hestia looked around, and seeing no one, she gave Edward a quick, perfunctory hug and patted him. "Go quickly, don't let my classmates see you."

"Am I that embarrassing?" Edward still felt wronged.

"No, you're too dazzling," Hestia said honestly. "There's a girl in my dorm who all the guys like. I don't want you two to meet each other, it would be troublesome."

Her dorm mates were about to come down.

Edward was really amused by Hestia. "You have that little confidence in me?"

"I told you, I have little confidence in myself," Hestia said seriously.

Edward decided not to tease her anymore, ruffled her hair, and left. "I'll try to come home early to make dinner for you tonight."

"Okay."

Watching Edward leave, Hestia finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Oh my, Hestia, you really have a boyfriend? We thought you were joking," a few women from the dorm walked over. They were dressed beautifully, in stark contrast to Hestia's plain appearance.

Hestia wasn't good at wearing clothes that highlighted her figure. She always covered up her brilliance, unaware of her own excellence.

So she was always very self-conscious, feeling she wasn't as dazzling as others.

She was good at studying but not liked by people, not even by teachers.

"Yes," Hestia nodded.

Dating wasn't something to be ashamed of.

"When will you bring your boyfriend for us to see?" A very popular woman smiled seductively, her tone clearly sarcastic. "Is he another bookworm like Saul?"

Hestia's fingers clenched instinctively when they mentioned Saul Pena, but she said nothing.

Saul was also a top student, like Hestia, liked wearing glasses, and dressed plainly.

He was the only boy who confessed to Hestia, saying he liked her and wanted to date her.

Hestia hesitated for a long time, thinking she should try dating, so she agreed.

Since freshman year, they were study partners as a couple.

Besides studying together and going to the library, they didn't have the usual couple activities.

So, people in the class secretly mocked them.

And the popular Jessa Greer had been Hestia's classmate since elementary school. Their families lived close, and because Hestia was always the well-behaved student in her parents' eyes, Jessa was jealous.

When Hestia's parents bragged about Hestia dating a top student, Jessa wanted to sabotage it.

Jessa took advantage of Saul escorting Hestia back to the dorm and seduced him. A top student who had never been in a relationship couldn't resist Jessa's allure.

Obviously, he went to a hotel with Jessa.

Hestia found out, and the whole class was abuzz, everyone mocking Hestia. She became a laughingstock at Stanford University.

Later, Saul probably felt guilty and applied to study abroad.

Jessa, failing to win over Saul, vented her anger on Hestia. Later, anyone who showed interest in Hestia, Jessa would seduce.

This was why Hestia told Edward she had no confidence in herself.

Because Hestia knew if Jessa found out she had a boyfriend, she would definitely try to seduce him.

And Hestia was aware that in terms of charm and attractiveness, she couldn't compete with Jessa.

Jessa was great at dressing up, very pretty, with a high head-turning rate. Countless boys pursued her at school.

In contrast, Hestia wore clean white sneakers and clean jeans.

Her long, slender legs were stunning, but she preferred wearing loose jeans that didn't attract attention.

A neat T-shirt, large-framed glasses, and a high ponytail... she had the face of a naïve student. Though it made her look young, like eighteen or nineteen, not many men were fond of such an innocent and childlike appearance.

Fortunately, Edward had good taste since childhood, skilled at seeing the essence through appearances, which was why he married Hestia.

"He's very busy," Hestia said softly.

Jessa rolled her eyes and laughed. "Hestia, are you afraid? We agreed that whoever gets a boyfriend has to let everyone see. Are you afraid I'll steal your boyfriend? Saul was an accident. You were unromantic, and he liked me. What could I do?"

Hestia lowered her head, saying nothing.
