Chapter 623 Ethan Sinks into the Sea
"I didn't think you'd actually show up," Howard said, genuinely surprised to see Ethan. "You know if you're here, you're not leaving."
"You caused my mom's death. We need to settle this," Ethan replied, his voice low and serious, giving Casey a reassuring pat on the back. "Casey's innocent. Put him on a lifeboat and get him out of here."
Howard didn't budge.
Ethan's expression darkened. "Howard!"
One of Howard's bodyguards pulled out a gun and aimed it at Ethan.
On the shore, the police saw Ethan being taken by Howard's men and immediately contacted the Coast Guard, who were ready to step in.
But the ship was packed with Howard's men, and it was unclear if Ethan was in danger.
"There's a kid on that ship. Be careful not to hurt him," the police warned.
Brandon clenched his fists. "I'm going with you."
He couldn't let anything happen to Ethan.
"Casey, Ethan," Lisa called out, brought over by Raymond.
Standing by the sea, Lisa felt a chill run through her. "Where did they take Ethan and Casey?"
Raymond glanced at her, feeling sorry for her.
Lisa realized her son had become a pawn in her father's game.
She collapsed to the ground, trembling. "He's such an animal."
This madman.
"Ethan went to save Casey. Trust him," Raymond tried to comfort her.
Lisa kept trembling, her voice breaking. "Ethan shouldn't have gone."
They weren't even full siblings. Ethan should hate them, not risk himself for Casey.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry," Lisa kept repeating.
"It's not your fault," Raymond said, looking at Brandon.
Brandon frowned. "I have to bring him back safely, or I won't be able to face Jasmine."
The wind picked up at sea, and the ship wasn't moving fast.
Ethan held Casey close, watching the ship warily.
There were six bodyguards. Howard lightly tapped the ring on his finger.
"If your mom had just handed over her shares and your grandpa's, I wouldn't have had to kill her. But your grandpa gave his shares to you instead of me, his son," Howard said, sounding bitter.
If Ethan's mom hadn't been so stubborn, he wouldn't have had to kill her.
"You killed her because you found out she was going to divorce you," Ethan sneered. "You found out my mom had a lawyer draft a divorce agreement, and you were afraid she'd take everything you wanted."
Howard's hand stiffened, not denying it.
It was true.
If Ethan's mom had divorced him, he, who hadn't fully controlled the company yet, would have been left with nothing.
"You killed a woman who loved you so much for these benefits," Ethan said, wishing he could kill Howard himself.
"She wasn't smart enough!" Howard snapped, losing control. He probably hadn't slept well in years.
"So today, you plan to get rid of me too?" Ethan asked.
Howard sighed, "I have no other choice, Ethan. You're too capable. You're not someone who can coexist peacefully with Bradley. If I'm gone, you'll suppress Bradley. As a father, I have to pave the way for him."
Ethan sneered. "In your eyes, only Bradley is your son."
How pathetic.
Howard was silent. "I once truly considered you my son, my pride. Unfortunately, you don't share my mindset."
"You sick me!" Ethan snapped.
"Ethan, as parents, we can never truly be fair. For your brother, I have no choice. I know I have no way out. I have to take you with me," Howard said, his voice filled with resignation.
"Howard! Why did you drag Casey into this?" Ethan demanded angrily.
"I wanted to take your son, but I was afraid you wouldn't come," Howard sneered. "Of the three kids, only Casey is a little naive. I called him, and he followed me."
"Your sons are too much like you—smart, not easily fooled, and almost tricked me," Howard sighed. "If there were another way, I wouldn't want this either."
But there was no other way.
"Casey isn't stupid. He trusts you, just like my mom stopped struggling when she heard your voice because she trusted you, thinking you'd save her!" Ethan's emotions boiled over.
Howard didn't respond, just looked at Casey with guilt. "Without Casey, I was afraid you wouldn't come."
Ethan clenched his fists. "It's not too late. Put him on the lifeboat and have someone to send him back!"
Howard hesitated.
"I'm already here. I can't escape. Send Casey back! Howard, if you have any conscience left!" Ethan urged him to make a quick decision.
Howard was silent for a moment, then spoke, "Leo, take the child."
"Sir! There's a coast guard ship on the sea!" a bodyguard outside suddenly shouted.
Ethan frowned, put Casey down, got up, and kicked the bodyguard beside him, knocking him out.
There were six bodyguards on the ship.
One of the boyguards came in, and Ethan punched him in the neck, causing him to kneel on the ground, struggling to breathe, and then knocked him out.
"Ethan!" The bodyguards rushed in, and Howard took the opportunity to hold a knife to Casey's neck.
Casey started crying loudly.
Why did Howard want to kill him?
He didn't understand. He was very naive, but he trusted Howard so much.
But Howard wanted to kill him and Ethan.
"Don't hit Uncle! You bad guys, don't hit Uncle!" Casey cried and struggled, trying to protect Ethan. Four people were hitting Ethan, and Ethan was bound to get hurt.
"Casey, don't cry." Ethan spat out blood and smiled at Casey.
Behind him, a bodyguard aimed a gun at Ethan.
On the Coast Guard ship, Brandon anxiously watched the nearby vessel, wanting to jump, but was stopped by the police.
Suddenly, a gunshot rang out, making everyone's heart skip a beat.
The police said, "Go help them, hurry!"
Just as the police boat approached, Howard's ship suddenly exploded, and the blinding light spread in the night sky.
On the shore, Lisa got up and ran towards the sea, crying. "Ethan! Casey!"
Raymond panicked and grabbed Lisa, unable to hold her back, so he hugged her tightly. "They'll be fine."
The ship sank quickly after the explosion, leaving no time for rescue.
Brandon jumped into the sea and rescued Casey, who Ethan had desperately pushed onto the lifeboat.
But when he tried to save Ethan, he had already sunk.
Brandon shouted, "Ethan!"
In Boston, after finishing a project meeting, Jasmine suddenly felt dizzy and nauseous on her way back.
"Jasmine, are you okay?" Samuel asked.
Jasmine shook her head. "I suddenly feel uneasy. I'll make a call."
Jasmine took out her phone and called Ethan, but no one answered.
