Chapter 432 Cordelia Publicly Files for Divorce
"My health has been poor, and I don't have much energy for the company anymore. Over the years, everyone has witnessed Nolan's strength and capability. All our efforts have been for the enterprise," Cordelia said, giving Sophia a meaningful look.
"Today, I officially announce my retirement and will hand over the company entirely to my three sons and my daughter."
Cordelia smiled at Jasmine, signaling her to come over.
Jasmine was momentarily stunned but then got up and walked over.
"Let me introduce you all, this is my daughter. Her name is Yasmine Cunningham. For now, she will focus on her studies. Once she finishes her education, she will join the company to help her brothers."
Cordelia had already prepared everything for Jasmine in advance.
"As for the shares in my hands, I will sign the transfer agreement today, dividing them into four parts for my four children."
As soon as Cordelia finished speaking, Sophia couldn't sit still.
Her face turned pale, and she suddenly stood up.
Willian frowned, "What's wrong with you?"
Sophia said, "Cordelia, you called me here today just to threaten me on purpose."
Cordelia sneered. "You are nothing. I don't need to threaten you."
"I gave Willian a daughter who is also part of the Cunningham family. From an inheritance standpoint, my daughter is entitled to a portion of the Cunningham Group's shares. You can't arrange it this way," Sophia said angrily. "I will find a lawyer, and I will sue you."
"Sophia, back then, you said only wanted Willian and nothing else," Cordelia sneered at Sophia.
Now she had no intention of pretending anymore.
Willian's face looked terrible. "You have no right to interfere in the Cunningham family's affairs. Sit down!"
Over the years, Sophia had always appeared uninterested in the shares, showing only affection for him.
But Cordelia giving her shares to the children shouldn't have made her suddenly agitated.
"Sophia, you must be very disappointed. You thought that if I died, my shares would be considered marital property, and Willian would get a portion of them, right?" Cordelia revealed Sophia's thoughts.
Sophia's face turned pale, as if she couldn't bear it any longer. "Cordelia, I've been with Willian like a nanny for so many years. You want me to end up with nothing? That's impossible."
Clenching her fists, Sophia looked at Willian, feeling more and more uncomfortable.
Knowing that Guadalupe was Arnold, she had lost interest in Willian.
After so many years, she had long been fed up with a man like Willian.
For over twenty years, Willian had treated her like a nanny every single day.
"Sophia, what do you mean?" Willian's face looked terrible.
"You know what I mean. Willian, if you have any sense of responsibility, you should fight for some shares for your daughter!" Sophia angrily looked at Willian.
Willian frowned. "I already said, the trust fund, assets, and cash, everything except the Cunningham Group's shares, belong to our daughter."
Sophia sneered. "That's too little."
Willian was shocked. He looked at Sophia and said, "What did you say?"
"Willian, I've had enough of you. I'm telling you, I will get back the shares that belong to my daughter," Sophia said confidently. Even if it meant going to court, she would fight for it.
Even if the shares obtained through a lawsuit were small, it would still be a continuous source of money. Instead of Willian's pathetic assets.
Willian was furious, he thought Sophia had gone mad today.
But for a moment, he was bewildered. This was the real Sophia. So, all these years, she had been pretending.
It was truly terrifying to think about.
Over there, Jasmine, Nolan, and Cordelia were all watching intently. Cordelia had directly exposed Sophia's true nature.
"Are you done arguing?" Cordelia asked calmly.
Willian sneered and looked back at Cordelia with displeasure.
"Back then, I had an agreement with Bill that as long as I was alive, I would never initiate a divorce. If I did, I would have to leave with nothing," Cordelia said, holding the divorce agreement in her hand as she walked over to Willian.
Willian was stunned, feeling an inexplicable tightness in his chest, and even his breathing felt painful. What did Cordelia mean?
"I have already signed the share transfer agreement, and my assets have been fairly distributed among the four children. Do you have any objections?"
Willian looked at Cordelia. "Cordelia, what exactly are you trying to do?"
"I want nothing but a divorce," Cordelia said. She placed the divorce agreement in front of Willian and handed him a pen.
Willian suddenly stood up, looking at Cordelia with a grim expression. "I think you've gone mad."
Everyone in the conference room gasped. Cordelia, as the chairwoman of the Cunningham Group for so many years, suddenly filing for divorce was truly shocking.
Sophia, on the other hand, was already gritting her teeth in hatred, looking at Cordelia with eyes full of venom.
Cordelia smiled at Sophia. "Your plan has completely failed. How do you feel about that?"
"Don't think you've won," Sophia said through gritted teeth. "I will sue you. I will fight for my daughter's rightful inheritance."
Sophia had consulted a lawyer and was confident.
After all, some of the shares had once belonged to Willian. But Willian had given them to his legitimate sons.
"And you think I've lost," Sophia laughed, thinking of Arnold, and her smile deepened. "You're divorcing to be with Guadalupe—no, Arnold. Cordelia, you will always be my defeated opponent."
Sophia took a step forward, looking at Cordelia. "You are truly ridiculous, Cordelia. You have never won against me."
"You're so confident," Cordelia sneered.
"When it comes to Willian, I might not be confident. For so many years, he has always treated me like a nanny," Sophia said through gritted teeth. "But Arnold, I am determined to have him."
Cordelia laughed. "You are truly ridiculous and pathetic."
"You don't even know my relationship with Arnold. He hasn't told you," Sophia said, covering her mouth with a light laugh, almost revealing everything.
However, she still wanted to keep more options open for herself. After all, the lawsuit hadn't started yet, and she couldn't afford to offend Willian completely.
Willian was furious. "What is your relationship with Arnold?"
Sophia didn't answer, giving Willian a disdainful look. Indeed, now that she had a better option, she no longer liked him.
"Willian, you are truly irresponsible," Sophia sneered, picking up her bag. "You all wait for my lawsuit."
Willian's face was grim. "Sophia, stop right there!"
Sophia no longer wanted to deal with Willian. Her mind was now entirely on Arnold.
