Chapter 937 Nolan Has Been Kidnapped and Is Missing
Capital Hospital
Amelia was in labor, but Nolan hadn't returned yet.
Something had happened to him in Moscow. Someone had targeted him there, and now he was missing.
With Amelia about to give birth, no one in the Cunningham family dared tell her the truth.
"Nolan still isn't here?" Amelia asked through contractions, her body trembling and face pale.
She needed him now more than ever—she wanted him by her side, especially with their baby about to be born.
Jasmine anxiously tried to comfort her. "Don't worry, I'll keep trying to reach him. He's probably just caught up with work—the Cunningham Group has been facing a lot of problems lately."
"Jasmine, don't bother him then. Let him focus on his work," Amelia shook her head, squeezing Jasmine's hand.
She had matured significantly, no longer the demanding Amelia of before. She understood the Cunningham family was under scrutiny and didn't want to add to their troubles.
"Mrs. Cunningham, the epidural will help. Just hang in there," the nurse said, entering with the nanny.
Cordelia watched over her with concern. "You're doing great, Amelia."
Amelia shook her head, crying.
She had always been sensitive to pain, still feeling like a child herself sometimes. But motherhood had made her stronger. Now she could endure not only the contractions but even the long needle inserted into her spine without crying.
If Nolan were here, he'd be beside himself with worry for her.
"Mom, come outside for a moment," Jasmine's voice was anxious and shaky. "Mom, what's happening with Nolan?"
She had been trying to call him, but his phone was unreachable.
Just last night he had called back, saying he was about to reach the airport. Today, there was no way to contact him.
"Nolan was kidnapped on his way to the airport," Cordelia said nervously, glancing at the hospital room door, afraid Amelia might overhear.
If Amelia found out, it would be disastrous. This was a critical moment—the Cunningham family couldn't afford to lose their composure.
"Who would dare be so brazen?" Jasmine asked, her voice choked.
Cordelia shook her head. "We don't know yet. The kidnappers haven't contacted us. The Moscow police and all our connections there are searching for him."
Cordelia leaned against the wall, still unsteady after hearing the news herself. Arnold had rushed off to handle things, assuring her there was nothing to worry about.
Cordelia couldn't break down now. Amelia was about to give birth—she needed to stay strong for her.
"Edgar, Edward, and Ethan have all gone to Moscow. We need to hold down the fort here," Cordelia said, fighting back tears.
Even with the men gone, the women couldn't let the Cunningham family fall apart.
"This is clearly a trap set for the Cunningham family," she continued. The goal was to draw Ethan and Edward away.
They thought this would cause the Cunningham family to lose ground and fail in the upcoming bid.
Not just the Cunningham family, but also Ethan's Raymond Group. Anyone connected to the Cunningham family would be excluded from this project.
"I suspect it's the Murray family," Cordelia rubbed her temples. "Beck isn't as simple as he appears. He's desperate now, much more ruthless than Rhett."
Jasmine nodded. She also suspected the Murray family, though others were likely involved as well.
"Mom, stay here with Amelia. No matter what, the Cunningham Group can't falter. I'll go back and handle things," Jasmine assured Cordelia.
The Raymond Group had Brandon, and her company had Samuel and Richard. Jasmine could focus on the Cunningham Group for now.
With her brothers away, she had to step up for the family business.
Meanwhile, at the Murray residence, Beck sat on the sofa, laughing coldly. "The Cunningham family is in complete disarray now..."
"You played it brilliantly," Lily emerged from behind the door, smiling.
"You're the clever one. We orchestrated this diversion, making everyone believe the Murray and Powell families had split up and were no longer a threat. They lowered their guard, and Nolan's urgency to return to his wife became his weakness," Beck said with a smile.
Lily smiled back, raising an eyebrow. "As long as we work together, the entire Silverlight City market, even Moscow's market, will eventually be ours."
Beck nodded, smiling. "Lily, if you were a man, you'd be unstoppable."
Lily's eyes darkened momentarily. Men weren't everything.
"Don't forget what you promised me," Lily reminded him firmly.
Beck looked at her. "Don't worry. I'll deal with those people in the Powell family one by one. You'll be the only one with any real power, no longer constrained by anyone."
"Our cooperation must remain underground. Vincent... doesn't want me to have any connection with you," Lily warned Beck not to let anything slip.
Power and money were important, but Lily now valued love and companionship equally.
It was rare to find someone who truly cared for her, who shared her world and understood her pain—let alone someone as capable as Vincent.
"Vincent..." Beck narrowed his eyes. "Lily, don't be blinded."
Lily trusted Vincent now. "Don't worry, I'm not a fool. I tested him thoroughly before giving my heart."
"Your heart?" Beck's laugh was cynical, but he said nothing more.
"As for Nolan, try not to leave him alive. The Cunningham family has too many capable people—they're too great a threat to us. Edgar and Edward have already gone to Moscow, and Ethan rushed there immediately too. The bid is coming up, and now the Cunningham family is shorthanded. Taking this project will be effortless. This time, let the Powell family secure it first," Lily said, looking at Beck.
Beck nodded. "Of course. I trust you—we're on the same side."
The Powell family would win the project first, then collaborate with the Murray family.
"In that case, let's celebrate our success in advance," Lily said, rising to leave.
Beck smiled. This woman was truly ruthless.
Back at Capital Hospital, after receiving the epidural, Amelia's condition improved, and her appetite returned.
"Mom, this cupcake is delicious," Amelia smiled at Cordelia.
Cordelia forced herself to smile, hiding her grief. "Have as many as you like..."
"Mrs. Cunningham, the doctor would like to speak with you," a nurse called to Cordelia.
Cordelia instructed the nanny to look after Amelia and left the room.
As soon as Cordelia was gone, a young nurse entered, pretending to check Amelia's epidural pump. She leaned in and whispered, "Your husband Nolan was kidnapped in Moscow. He's been killed. They've found remains of his body, and the police are verifying the DNA now."
