Chapter 62 Ethan Wanted to Compete with Henry for Jasmine

"Send this for a paternity test; it needs to be expedited," Henry handed the hair over to Ben.
Ben looked at Jasmine with a complicated expression, sighed, and then left straight away.
At the club.
Jasmine returned to the receptionist desk, and not long after, Ben arrived.
He was holding the paternity test results from a professional testing facility.
"That... fast?" Jasmine looked at Ben in amazement, feeling a bit nervous for a moment.
Ben nodded. "Yes, results in three hours."
Jasmine's fingers felt a bit numb as she reached out to take the results.
Feeling a mix of emotions, Jasmine wasn't quite sure what kind of result she wanted.
After opening the sealed envelope, Jasmine took a deep breath, trembling as she took out the report, even her breath started to quiver.
"In fact, Mr. Patrick could already instinctively tell whether the child was his or not," Ben whispered.
Jasmine covered her mouth with her hand, biting her finger hard.
The paternity test showed that Henry was Justin's biological father.
"It's him..." Jasmine choked out.
Ben nodded. "Jasmine, there's nothing to worry about; I'll leave now."
Jasmine clutched the paternity test in her hand and curled up in a corner, trembling for a long time.
The man from that night really was Henry.
Well, six years ago, Henry had been very persistent in pursuing her.
Ha...
But Jasmine didn’t feel happy at all.
She had spent five years in prison.
On the day of the trial, Henry was there in the courtroom.
He clearly knew everything, yet still despicably wanted to see her beg for mercy.
Jasmine didn't think this kind of possessive obsession was love.
"Have you received the test results?" Henry called Jasmine.
Jasmine answered. "Yes..."
"I've already arranged for a specialist to take a look at Justin, and I've informed Richard; he's already brought the child over. Justin's condition isn't severe, and we're discussing the best treatment plan." Henry's tone sounded... lazy.
"Thank you."
"After the business dinner, I'll take you back to Silverlight City. Shall I bring the child too?" Henry asked.
"No need... he's with his uncle and doing well." Jasmine refused.
She decided to never rely on anyone.
Otherwise, when Henry no longer wanted her, she wouldn't be able to live independently.
"Jasmine... accompany me to a dinner party tonight." Henry wasn't asking her; this was an order.
"Okay." Jasmine had no right to refuse.
After hanging up the phone, Jasmine's fingers trembled as she shredded the paternity test results.
She had bitten her fingers hard; the pain made her whole body shake.
There were still traces of the suicide attempts from her time in prison on her wrists. Countless times, she had wanted to end it all.
These people simply didn't understand how much they had hurt her.
"Don't touch me, please..."
"Let me go..."
That night, no matter how she pleaded, she was never shown mercy.
Just like in prison, where she was she was bullied, no matter how she cried out, the guards wouldn't care.
It was only when she attempted suicide and was lying in a pool of her own blood next to the toilet, that they finally took her to the hospital.

Silverlight City, the Douglas Family Estate.
"Mr. Daniel, that child is not easy to trick, and Richard protects him closely. Several people have tried to trick him but failed," Daniel’s assistant said with some difficulty.
Daniel threw the materials in his hand aside. "A group of adults can't handle a child?"
"That kid is as cunning as a fox. He’s always holding onto a broken phone, ready to call the police at any moment. When the police hear it's a child, they take extra care and have started patrolling that area every other day," his assistant said, feeling exasperated.
They sent people to trick Justin, but as soon as Justin realized they were frauds, he called the police to catch the men trying to trick him, causing their people to run for blocks before escaping the police.
"That kid has an exceptional memory too. He remembers their faces at a glance and leads the police straight to us," his assistant said, feeling like crying because a child had outsmarted them.
"It's a shame the little troublemaker isn't in the military; his counter-surveillance skills are exceptional," his assistant continued to complain.
Daniel's expression was horribly grim. "Have they found Jasmine yet?"
He wanted to use the child to force Jasmine to come back obediently, but the little wild seed didn't fall for their trap.
Daniel’s assistant answered a phone call and hurried over, "Mr. Daniel, Jasmine has been found."
Daniel stood up abruptly. "Where?"
"She went to Boston."
"Heh... She thinks she can escape my grasp by going to Boston?!" Daniel sneered.
"Mr. Daniel... Jasmine is currently at a club. I heard... I heard she's with Mr. Patrick... Mr. Patrick even personally brought her breakfast," his assistant said cautiously, knowing that this news would surely set Daniel off.
As expected, Daniel's anger was barely contained. "What did you say? Who?"
"Henry... Mr. Patrick, from the SHC Group," his assistant said nervously.
After pushing his assistant aside, Daniel took a deep breath. "Heh... Jasmine is really quite something! Fine, very well. She's found herself a backer, truly impressive!"
Daniel knew very well that Henry had set his sights on Jasmine six years ago.
What he didn't expect was for Jasmine to stoop so low, to fall into decadence after her release from prison and seek out Henry.
"Does she think I can't touch her with Henry around?" Daniel's voice was low. "Is that club the venue for this conference's evening banquet?"
"Yes," his assistant quickly nodded.
"I remember hearing rumors that Mr. Patrick and Miss Zelda from the Brown Family were said to be engaged. Zelda is practically walking on air and ignoring everyone. Go tell Zelda that her future husband might be in Jasmine's bed right now," Daniel's eyes were murderous and veins were bulging on the back of his hand.
He was furious. He even began to wonder if Jasmine and Henry might have been involved six years ago.
He had been so good to Jasmine back then, treating her like she was an angel, and this was how she repaid him?!

Boston, Hotel.
"Mr. Douglas, we've found out that, today, Henry's assistant urgently sent a sample to the health center for a paternity test. The man who was rumored to be involved with Jasmine has not been exposed yet, and there are only two possibilities. Either Jasmine is unwilling to disclose it, or she is unaware," Ethan’s assistant reported.
The likelihood of Jasmine being unaware of the man was slim, leaving only the other possibility: that the man's status and identity were so high that he was not someone she could provoke.
"Justin is Henry's son?" Ethan frowned; his expression was far from one of happiness.
"It seems so..." Liam shrugged. "This is really explosive news. The CEO of SHC Group sleeping with Daniel from the Douglas Family's girlfriend? Do you two have a grudge against each other?"
Ethan rubbed his forehead, "Shut up."
Liam covered his mouth and spoke softly. "Mr. Douglas, we might be meddling unnecessarily. Jasmine is a smart woman, and Henry is generous to women. She won't come out at a loss."
Ethan frowned. "If the child really is Henry's, then why was she sentenced to five years for extortion? What was Henry doing?"
"I checked; Mr. Patrick was present at the trial," Liam said, not quite understanding Ethan's implications.
"So Jasmine wasn't willing back then," Ethan stood up, his expression darkening. "Henry doesn't deserve her."
Ethan walked out, his mood overpoweringly heavy.
The fact that Henry could allow Jasmine and Justin to suffer for so many years while standing by and watching was enough proof that he was nothing but scum.
These were the antics of someone trying to prove that he was high and mighty, wanting to smooth out Jasmine's edges and waiting for her to come begging on her knees for help.
"Mr. Douglas, where are you going?" Liam followed, looking perplexed.
"To the club," Ethan's voice was low.
Liam shakily caught up. "Mr. Douglas, are you planning to compete with Mr. Patrick for Jasmine?"
