Chapter 93 Ethan and Jasmine Got Their Marriage Certificate

"Jasmine, I'll remind you one last time, drop the case quickly and apologize to the Brown family and the Douglas family! Otherwise, don't blame us for not being polite to you." Karen pointed at Jasmine threateningly.
Jasmine shook her head. "The Brown family and the Douglas family have no relation to the Wilson Family. I owe you for raising me for twenty years, not the Brown family and the Douglas family."
"Jasmine! Are you talking back now?" Karen raised her hand as if to strike Jasmine.
"Ms. Karen, do you want to go to jail too?" At the door, Ethan's voice was cold.
Evan paused, frowning as he looked at Ethan.
Ethan approached Jasmine, not just to deal with Daniel.
In Evan's eyes, Ethan wasn't a good person either.
With a meaningful glance back at Jasmine, Evan wanted to say something, but in the end, he didn't. "Mom, Dad, let's go."
Karen's breathing was labored with anger, and she turned to look at Ethan. "Ethan, what are you thinking? Daniel is your brother; Serena will be your future sister-in-law. You are family."
Ethan smiled. "Does that have anything to do with assaulting someone?"
Sensing that Karen was about to say more, Benjamin held Karen back. "Let's go. Let the Douglas family handle this matter themselves. As long as Serena isn't harmed, we won't interfere!"
Anyone with eyes could see that this was an internal struggle within the Douglas family. Was Ethan really helping Daniel? Even a fool would know that was unlikely.
Karen wasn't a fool either. Angry as she was, she knew Ethan's capabilities very well.
When Ethan decided to cut ties with the Wilson family, he did so decisively, without regard for family ties.
"Thank you..."
In the hospital room, only Jasmine and Ethan remained.
Jasmine lowered her head and whispered some more words of thanks to Ethan.
"You don't need to thank me." Ethan stood by the hospital bed.
She was quite capable herself. She was able to stir up the news about Carmen's affair, despite Stellar Enterprises' efforts to suppress it.
Ethan looked deeply at Jasmine, raising his hand to hold her chin. "Who is helping you?"
Besides him, there must be someone behind Jasmine.
Even Stellar Enterprises' PR couldn't suppress the trending news.
Was it Henry?
Jasmine felt a little flustered and avoided looking him in the eye. "I'm not sure what you are talking about, Mr. Douglas..."
"Jasmine, I promised to help you protect Richard and Justin. Even if it was just a verbal promise, do you not trust me?" Ethan felt he had underestimated Jasmine. "Intentionally having me help you release the video of Daniel assaulting you, then having your people publicize Carmen's scandal. Is this how you want to bind me to you?"
Jasmine held onto her clothes tightly; she had become indifferent to being misunderstood.
She indeed couldn't easily trust anyone's verbal promises.
She did want to align her interests with Ethan's.
But to Ethan, she was just a tiny ant, easily crushed at any time.
"Mr. Douglas, you don't need to worry... I'm not greedy." Jasmine's gaze trembled as she looked at Ethan.
She wasn't a greedy person; she only wished for Justin and Richard's safety.
If Ethan no longer needed her, she would leave without hesitation.
This was also why Ethan chose her, because she was easy to deal with.
Furrowing his brows, Ethan released Jasmine. "I'll see you out of the hospital."
Jasmine quickly got up and hurriedly packed her things. "Mr. Douglas, you didn't have to come in person."
She could have just taken a taxi back.
Ethan didn't say anything. He just stood to the side, waiting for Jasmine to finish packing.
Jasmine didn't have much to take, so after straightening the bedding, she followed Ethan out of the hospital.
"Mr. Douglas, the discharge process is complete. Henry's assistant is here to pick up Jasmine. I've kept him occupied," Liam whispered to Ethan, opening the car door for him.
Ethan remained silent, gesturing for Jasmine to get into the car first.
After fidgeting for a while, Jasmine finally got into the car.
She nervously huddled herself by the car door; she seemed like she might pop out of the car at any moment.
Leaning back in his seat, Ethan watched Jasmine's cautious demeanor and felt like laughing. "Do you want me to open the door for you?"
Jasmine let out a small sound of surprise, her ears turning red with embarrassment.
Jasmine was lost in thought the entire way; she didn't even realize they weren't heading towards her home.
It wasn’t until the car stopped at the entrance of the Silverlight City City Hall Marriage License Department, that Ethan finally spoke. "Get out of the car."
Jasmine hesitated for a moment, then hurriedly got out of the car, looking around in shock. "Mr.... Mr. Douglas?"
"You asked me to marry you, right?" Ethan headed towards the Silverlight City City Hall Marriage License Department.
Jasmine stood frozen in place, her fingers and legs numb. "Mr. Douglas... I didn't mean that... I didn't..."
Ethan stopped and looked at Jasmine. "You can refuse."
"There's no need to go this far..." Jasmine stammered in her explanation.
"Do you have a better way to protect yourself and a better choice of partner?" Ethan interrupted Jasmine.
Jasmine lowered her head, feeling her mind go blank.
Ethan's actions left her bewildered.
He was Ethan after all.
How could he just decide to get a marriage license like that?
Even Henry wasn't willing to be involved with her in that way.
Even though she knew this was just a temporary partnership, Jasmine still spoke softly. "You should have better options. My reputation..."
"Marriage can help me get what I want faster," Ethan stated bluntly. "We each get what we need."
Jasmine lowered her head and followed behind Ethan.
Indeed... a marriage certificate was currently the best protection for Jasmine.
Moreover, Ethan wouldn't let outsiders know about their marriage.
This kind of secret marriage was most suitable for Ethan.
"Why... choose me?" Jasmine asked softly.
"You said you're not greedy," Ethan said as he instructed Liam to take Jasmine to complete the paperwork.
"Miss Jasmine, please follow me this way," Liam called out to Jasmine. "Mr. Douglas's decision to marry you is purely for cooperation, as you must be aware."
Jasmine kept her head down, gripping her hands tightly.
"Mr. Douglas trusts you and hasn't made any property disclosures, but for safety and to minimize future troubles, I believe it's necessary for you to sign this agreement." Liam produced the prenuptial agreement.
"This marriage will last a maximum of three years. During this time, Mr. Douglas can end the marriage at any time, and you can also request a divorce at any time. Three years from today, no matter what, please ensure you promptly handles the divorce proceedings."
Liam pointed to the agreement and continued, "As compensation, all living expenses and educational costs from now until Justin enters society, as well as future expenses for college, graduate school, further education, or even studying abroad, will be covered by Mr. Douglas."
"In addition, as long as you abide by the requirements of the agreement, whether you choose to end the marriage early or after three years, Mr. Douglas will provide you with an additional property in Silverlight City, ten million in cash, and monthly living expenses after the marriage ends."
"No... I don't need it. I don't want the money or any of this..." Jasmine nervously looked at Liam. She truly wasn't in it for the money; she just wanted to protect herself.
She was only with Ethan out of necessity.
"You better sign obediently. It's good for you, for me, and for Mr. Douglas. With these, you can be at ease, and I can be at ease," Liam's tone seemed to carry a deep meaning.
He didn't believe anyone would turn down wealth. With these benefits, everyone would avoid trouble.
Jasmine's fingers stiffened for a moment. She stopped refusing, picked up the pen, and signed the agreement.
It wouldn't take three years before she left.
