Chapter 423 Sophia Wanted to Kill Someone Again
Nolan thought Willian came because Sophia was being beaten.
After all, he looked like he was about to kill someone.
"Guadalupe!" Willian glared at Arnold, eyes full of murderous intent. "How dare you come back!"
Arnold looked at Willian leisurely, raising an eyebrow. "Mr. Cunningham, long time no see."
"This is a charity gala for local business circle. You have no right to be here! Security, get him out of here!" Willian shouted at Arnold.
Arnold just smiled.
Ethan figured it out, Willian didn't know Arnold's true identity.
Of course, Cordelia handled all matters of the Cunningham Group. Willian didn't participate in management, rarely went to the company, and lived off a monthly allowance with Sophia in their small home.
After returning to the Sanders family, Arnold kept a low profile and rarely attended public events, only showing up at major ones. Naturally, Willian had no chance to meet Arnold.
"Willian, you look really pathetic right now," Cordelia said sarcastically, "Go back and sit with your mistress."
Willian couldn't suppress his anger. "I said years ago if he dared to show up in front of me again, I'd kill him."
"Impressive. He's here now. Go ahead and kill him. If you don't, I'll look down on you. Do you need a knife?" Cordelia leaned back in her chair, looking coldly at Willian who clenched his fists and retorted, "You!"
Cordelia stood up and walked over to Willian. "You have the nerve to bring Sophia here and embarrass yourself, disregarding the Cunningham Group's reputation. I won't save face for you either."
"Are you doing this on purpose to anger me?" Willian's face darkened, but his anger seemed to dissipate a bit. "If I make Sophia leave now, will you let him go?"
"Willian, don't be ridiculous. The media has already taken photos, and it's already in the news: #Willian Brings Mistress to Provoke Wife Publicly#
Cordelia found Willian laughable.
Willian, feeling guilty, looked away. "But you can't bring him here either."
"If you can do it, so can I," Cordelia replied.
Willian said nothing.
"If I were you, I'd take Sophia and leave now. If she affects the Cunningham Group's stock market, I won't be kind to you," Cordelia warned Willian not to embarrass himself further.
Willian glanced at Guadalupe. "Make him leave."
"Impossible." Cordelia deliberately withheld Arnold's identity.
It felt quite amusing to infuriate Willian.
She had only promised Bill not to initiate a divorce, but she hadn't promised to let her husband die.
"Cordelia! You have no shame," Willian raged.
"How about you?" Cordelia retorted.
"I'm a man. It's natural for me to bring a woman. You're my wife; you shouldn't bring..." Willian pointed at Guadalupe. "Bring this poor man."
"You're no better than anyone else. Without the Cunningham family's trust, you'd be begging on the streets. You're worthless, with no skills." Cordelia laughed.
If Bill hadn't left Willian a trust fund, he and Sophia would be picking up trash that no one wanted.
"Cordelia, you're really increasingly surprising me," Willian warned Cordelia, "Don't regret this. I used to think you were wronged all these years, but it seems you weren't wronged at all!"
Cordelia now just thought Willian was crazy.
When Willian angrily returned to his seat, Cordelia let out a cold laugh and sat back down.
Once she was seated, Arnold smiled. "I should beat him up again."
Cordelia glared at Arnold with cold eyes. "Even if he's not a good person, he's still my husband. Mr. Sanders, if you don't want us to argue, you'd better watch yourself."
Arnold's smile faded, and he let out a defiant cold laugh, but there was a hint of hurt in his eyes.
Cordelia was always like this. No matter how excessive Willian's actions were, she refused to divorce him.
Did she love him that much?
Arnold thought he could wait, even if it took ten or twenty years. One day, Cordelia would lose all her affection for Willian.
Yet, despite the years, Cordelia continued to stand by him, steadfastly refusing to consider divorce. Back then, when Cordelia was pregnant, Willian kissed a housemaid in the dining room right in front of her.
It made her so angry that she bled and almost miscarried.
Even so, she still refused to divorce him.
Arnold once queried Cordelia about her unwavering persistence. Her response was simple: it was about surrendering to destiny. However, Cordelia clearly wasn't the kind of woman who believed in fate.
Over there, Willian's face was dark and gloomy.
"Willian, Cordelia and that bodyguard must have something going on. If I were you, I'd make plans early. You don't have any shares now, and Cordelia can divorce you anytime. If you divorce, she'll take the Cunningham Group shares and marry someone else."
Sophia, seeing Willian angry, continued to provoke him. "If Cordelia marries that bodyguard, all your assets will go to him, and the Cunningham Group will be his."
Sophia knew Willian's weakness.
Willian's anger intensified, almost to the point of exploding.
Sophia continued, "He's just a bodyguard with no real power. We can get rid of him, make him disappear. It's simple."
Willian looked at Sophia. "Can you do it?"
Sophia whispered, "I can find someone to do it."
Willian frowned. "I want him dead, but I want to curse him to death, not kill him with my own hands and do something illegal."
Sophia paused, realizing she had gotten carried away and forgotten the kind persona she had maintained all these years.
"Willian, I was just joking with you. Look at you," Sophia said, hugging his arm with a smile. "I saw you were angry and wanted to cheer you up."
Willian finally let out a cold laugh, dispelling his doubts.
To him, Sophia embodied everything Cordelia lacked. Her gentleness, kindness, understanding, caregiving, and comforting nature were all qualities that gave him the sense of security he yearned for.
Moreover, Sophia was pure, kind, and harmless.
With a sigh, Willian felt regretful.
If only Cordelia's personality could be swapped with Sophia's.
At the banquet, Willian was very concerned about Guadalupe, constantly sneaking glances at Cordelia and Guadalupe, afraid that if he looked away, they would start flirting.
Arnold, however, seemed to deliberately provoke him, always making ambiguous gestures and whispering in Cordelia's ear.
Willian was so angry he almost crushed his wine glass!
Sophia's face also darkened, and thinking, 'Samantha and May were dead, and next, it should be Guadalupe's turn. Once he was dead, my secret would be safe forever. After searching for him for so many years with no news, he had shown up on his own!'
