Chapter 522 Lisa Wants to Fight for Casey's Custody

Jasmine hung up, feeling distracted and gripping her phone tightly.

She wasn't sure if she should help Zelda.

'Repay evil with good? Then how do you repay kindness?' She felt conflicted.

Zelda had caused her so much pain and darkness.

Watching the sisters tear each other apart seemed like revenge.

But now, it felt pointless.

This kind of ending wasn't a release.

She had promised to protect Zelda if she got the evidence.

But that was just to keep her alive.

With no family and the Harper family bankrupt, Zelda had nothing left.

Annabelle was definitely involved in the Harper family's shady dealings and would face punishment.

Zelda was the only one left in the Harper family.

Living alone seemed like Zelda's final fate.

"What happened?" Ethan asked, walking over.

"Annabelle's people found Zelda," Jasmine said, knowing Ethan's people were also looking for her.

"If they fight, doesn't that save us the trouble?" Ethan frowned, still angry at Zelda for what she did to Jasmine.

"But only if she lives can I truly let go. If she dies, it feels like a dead end," Jasmine said. "She'd be dead, but I'd still be tormented by memories."

Zelda had to live, painfully and lonely.

Ethan sighed. "If she lives, Annabelle won't have a good life."

Ethan called the people monitoring Zelda. "Are you watching her?"

"Don't let her die. Take her to the police station."

Zelda had drugged the Harper family and was still a suspect. She'd be safer with the police until the real culprit was caught.

The police would protect her and find the real murderer.

Eventually, she'd be sent to a mental hospital, always under supervision.

Jasmine's eyes reddened, and she smiled at Ethan. "Ethan, let Joe and Justin stay with Casey. Come with me."

She wanted to revisit the school and recollect memories of being bullied by Zelda. Though time had passed, those memories were deeply engraved in her soul.

Jasmine and Ethan left, and Lisa watched from the window.

Casey's birthday ended: the cake was eaten, the song sung, desserts finished, food cold, gifts opened, but Jordan still hadn't come back.

"Mom, why hasn't Dad come back? Will he come back?" Casey asked, feeling down.

Joe and Justin stayed with Casey, sitting by the window, waiting for Jordan.

Maybe the adults didn't understand how much these kids longed for a family reunion on their birthday.

"Casey, after I get divorced, if you stay with your dad, maybe he'll treat you well," Lisa said, though she didn't want to.

She was definitely going to divorce Jordan.

Jordan would never love her, no matter how long they were married.

Especially not in these few short months.

Jordan agreed to the divorce but had one condition: Lisa could keep all the family assets, but Casey, his son, had to stay with him.

Lisa had used Casey to force Jordan into marriage, and now she had to leave Casey behind.

This was her punishment, and it came swiftly.

With a mocking laugh, Lisa's eyes reddened.

"Mom, I want to stay with you," Casey choked out, gripping Lisa's fingers tightly. "Can I stay with you?"

Casey wasn't stupid. He knew if his mom left, his dad wouldn't care about him. He'd go back to being looked after by a nanny, not seeing his parents, living a lonely life.

Lisa couldn't help but cry, turning away. "Casey, be good."

Justin and Joe exchanged a glance. Justin asked softly, "Why don't kids get a say when adults divorce? Shouldn't they ask us who we want to stay with?"

"Because we're not adults, we don't have a choice."

This was reality, an unchangeable fact.

Casey lowered his head, tears falling to the floor.

After a long time, Casey spoke softly, "Mom, I'm six now, going to first grade. In twelve years, I'll be an adult and can choose to stay with you or Dad, right?"

Casey just had to wait twelve years.

Lisa couldn't hold back anymore, hugging Casey and crying out loud.

What was she doing? She had used Casey to marry Jordan, thinking of him as a tool.

But he was her child, her son.

"Casey, Mom won't give up on you!"

She was going to divorce Jordan, fight for Casey's custody, and take him away.

She could give up everything else, but not her son.

Jordan wouldn't be good to Casey; he'd ruin him.

The future wife Jordan would find wouldn't like Casey either. Her Casey would be very lonely.

"Mom." Casey hugged Lisa tightly. He didn't try to stop the divorce; he said softly, "Mom, when I'm eighteen, I can legally protect you."

Casey was still naive, thinking that becoming an adult at eighteen was the key.

That he could protect his mom and not let her suffer anymore.

Maybe Lisa wasn't perfect—spoiled, arrogant, insecure, and selfish, but she was Casey's mom, and to him, she was the best mom.

"Casey, you still have us." Justin smiled at Casey. "You still have uncles."

"I never had a dad before, but my uncles treated me well. I didn't have a mom by my side, but I know she loves me. She'll come back to me when she gets out of prison," Justin said softly, recalling his hopes.

"Every birthday, I would think, when will Mom come back? I wish she could blow out the candles with me."

Justin propped his head on his hand, looking out the window. "Look, my mom came back and even found my dad. Casey, your mom will definitely find someone who loves her and find you a dad who loves you."

Lisa's face turned pale as she looked at Justin, her eyes red as she opened her arms. "Justin, Joe, can Auntie hug you?"

Justin thought for a moment, then happily hugged Lisa.

Kids didn't hold grudges; They would be kind to anyone who's kind to them.

"Casey isn't alone; Casey has Mom, Justin, and Joe!"
