Chapter 334 The Conflict Between Ethan and Connor

"Do you have any conflicts with Connor?" Jasmine asked nervously.

"Conflict?" Ethan pondered. "I don't stoop to his level."

Jasmine's palms were a little sweaty. "What did he do?"

"Olivia liked me. I was unaware, and Connor asked me out for drinks." This was also one of the reasons why Ethan didn't drink.

Every time he drank, something bad happened.

"Was Connor's behavior intentional towards Olivia?" Jasmine nervously grabbed Ethan's wrist.

The man looked handsome, which was quite dangerous.

Men should also protect themselves when they were out and about.

"He was also unaware." Ethan still trusted Connor to some extent. After all, they were once good friends.

"It was all many years ago, probably when I was a freshman. That day, Mitchell, Connor, and I drank too much at the bar. Olivia came to find Connor, ended up kissing me, and someone took a photo which was posted on the campus forum."

That incident caused quite a stir on the forum back then.

"For the sake of Olivia's reputation, Connor had me interact with Olivia first to see if we could get together. He created various opportunities for Olivia to get close to me. I was annoyed, so I ended up bringing Betty in as a shield. Surprisingly, Olivia tried to undermine Betty behind her back. If Betty hadn't been assertive, things might have gone wrong."

Ethan was still a bit angry when he talked about it now.

Olivia was a very scheming woman. Ethan disliked her.

Jasmine thought carefully. "I seem to remember Daniel mentioning this before, back when we were in high school. He said there was a girl who had a crush on you. She used to come to our house all the time. Could it be Olivia?"

"Don't mention Daniel, I am very angry," Ethan was very jealous.

He thought, ' If I had known back then that Jasmine was still in high school, no matter what, I would have insisted on going back to study for a few more years.'

Jasmine puffed out her cheeks and chuckled. "I wasn't jealous of you and Olivia."

"Should I be jealous about this? Shouldn't I be pitied? I am the victim," Ethan said with a resentful expression.

Jasmine was amused. "So why did you and Connor have a falling out?"

"Olivia let someone hurt Betty. After I arrived, I said a few harsh words to her. She went home pretending to be on the verge of death, lying that I bullied her and was irresponsible. Connor believed her instead of me. How can I still hang out with Connor?" Ethan still felt very angry when this was brought up.

He considered Connor a buddy, but Connor saw him as a major jerk, especially Olivia, who was a deceitful and malicious woman. He must be out of his mind to get involved with her.

"The situation was quite unpleasant. The Hawthornes wanted to intervene, but if it weren't for Betty and Avery, who was the legitimate debutante from the Hawthornes, took a baseball bat and smashed the car of the Hawthornes’ head, the Hawthornes’ head wouldn't have realized the seriousness of the situation." Ethan raised an eyebrow.

Some things still need women to handle.

Jasmine looked at Ethan in surprise, then covered her mouth and chuckled. "Betty is so brave."

"Olivia probably didn't realize she had stirred up trouble, so Hawthorne sent her out of the country," Ethan chuckled.

Jasmine glanced at Ethan and carefully held Ethan's hand with her fingers.

Ethan noticed that Jasmine was scared and anxious, so he teased her. "Please protect me in the future."

Jasmine nodded earnestly. "I will protect you."

The Richard's residence.

Aurora said she had nowhere to live after coming back from the hospital, so she ended up staying with Richard.

Richard stood downstairs and cast a meaningful glance at Betty who completely ignored Richard and was very enthusiastic. "Come on, let's take Miss Aurora to the elevator. She will be living here from now on, and I will take care of the rent."

Richard didn't know what her intentions were.

Aurora obviously didn't understand. She looked at Richard with red eyes. "The doctor said I need someone to accompany me. Richard, can you accompany me?"

"No. If he accompanies you, who will accompany me? We are even planning to have children," Betty looked troubled. I've already given you the house, and now you want me to give you Richard, too? That's not possible. I'm a clean freak, and Richard is not for borrowing."

Aurora tightened her grip on the wheelchair's handles, her eyes turning red. "Richard, you promised to take care of me and always treat me well. Are those words no longer valid?"

"Isn't he good enough for you?" Betty looked around at the bodyguards, surprised. "You stay in Silverlight City; he even gave you the house, and do you still want him to sleep with you?"

Richard coughed and then turned to look elsewhere.

Aurora was also thin-skinned, blushing and feeling embarrassed. "Why would you say something like that?"

"Since you don't want him to sleep with you, I'll have the caregiver accompany you instead," Betty winked. The female caregiver quickly stepped forward to push Aurora.

Aurora bit her lip, her eyes red as she glanced at Richard.

Seeing that Richard didn't look at her, Aurora spoke in a hoarse voice, "Betty, do you think that by relying on your current sense of superiority to pressure Richard, he is truly happy and free with you? If you don't force him and let him choose for himself, do you have the confidence that he would choose you?"

Betty watched as the elevator doors closed, subconsciously tightening her grip on her hands.

Aurora was right. She needed to be more confident.

"Are we really going to let her stay here?" Richard walked up behind Betty and asked.

Betty asked with unpleasant, "So, do you still want to live with her?"

"I didn't mean that," Richard said innocently.

"Aren't you quite busy recently? I'll take care of her here. You go attend to your tasks," Betty said as she got into the car, raising an eyebrow at Richard.

Richard sighed. "Don't provoke her."

Richard was afraid that Betty would get into trouble.

Betty snorted, "Are you concerned about her? If you care so much, why don't you take care of her?"

Richard opened his mouth but didn't say anything.

Richard also understood that as long as Aurora was still in Silverlight City, still entangled with him, the conflict between him and Betty would always persist.

No matter how he explained, it was difficult to remove that thorn from Betty's heart.

"I know this is unfair to you. You're busy with your things, and I will handle this matter, okay?" Richard said, not intending to get in the car, leaning against the door to reassure.

Betty averted her gaze and remained silent.

Actually, Betty admitted that she didn't feel secure.

She thought, 'Richard loved Aurora for many years. Saying there are no feelings left at all, how is that possible?'

Betty also knew that Richard was a very responsible person because they had made love together, and because of her past, Richard would definitely choose to stay by her side.

Who was the woman in Richard's heart ultimately? Betty was left in the dark.

A man's love for his woman could  be seen in the details. However, Richard, a perfectionist who paid attention to every detail, ended up making her feel anxious and scared.

She began to feel scared. Was it right or wrong to trap Richard in this way?

"Are you coming home tonight?" Betty asked after a long silence.

She asked Richard if he was coming home or not to her home.

"I'm not going back. Where should I go? You've promised the place I live to someone else," Richard chuckled helplessly.

Betty lowered her head and thought for a long time. "Richard."
"What?" Richard didn't know what Betty wanted to say.

Betty shook her head. "It's nothing."

The driver drove away, and Richard stood in place watching them leave.

Since meeting Betty, everything has felt like scenes from a dream to Richard.

He had never imagined that one day he would have any connection with someone of Betty's status or that one day, he would be entangled in the current situation.

On the car.

Betty didn't look back; tears just welled up in her eyes.

'Aiden once said that I am too dominant, which makes people feel suffocated.’

'I have already given Richard a lot of space.’

'I don't know if Richard would have the same feeling.' she brooded.
