Chapter 544: Evelyn Goes Crazy

Evelyn sat across from Sophia, silent for a long time.

Sophia let out a sarcastic laugh. "You wish you weren't my daughter."

"You're pretty self-aware," Evelyn shrugged with a smile. "Since you're not my mom, I feel relieved, less pressure."

Sophia frowned. "Even if I'm not your real mom, Willian and I raised you. You owe us."

Evelyn leaned back, looking relaxed. Now that Sophia wasn't her mom, she didn't need to pretend anymore. She was never really obedient anyway.

"Funny," Evelyn said. "Seems you don't really know what kind of person I am. I'm heartless."

Under Sophia's glare, Evelyn continued, "I got that from you. Even blood ties can't bind me, nothing will."

Evelyn added, "My dad's not great. No sense of responsibility. But to me, he's a good father. Even if we're not related by blood, I wouldn't disown him."

"Evelyn, don't you want to know who your real parents are? Maybe Cordelia killed them. She used you to replace my daughter; it was a conspiracy," Sophia said angrily.

Evelyn waggled her finger. "Even if I knew, what do you expect me to do? Confront Cordelia, team up with you to take down the Cunninghams, or find your daughter and form an Avengers team?"

Sophia's expression changed.

"No, no, no. I don't have your ambition. My motto is to live each day and be happy. My life is good now. My dad didn't tell me because he didn't want to lose me. I still get the Cunningham family fund, live comfortably, and take my work seriously, even if I'm not famous."

Evelyn sat up straight. "I'm not giving up my good life to join you in a risky venture. That's impossible. Biological parents don't mean much. If my parents were rich like Cordelia and Willian, I'd acknowledge them. But what if they sold me? In that case, I'd still have to support them when I find them even if they never raised me."

Sophia's head hurt. What a worthless, unambitious person.

She couldn't see the big picture.

Sophia knew Evelyn had no real skills and was rebellious and unreliable.

She had hoped Evelyn would cause trouble for Cordelia, but instead, she was causing trouble for her.

"Cordelia obviously stole you from someone else. All these years, she replaced my daughter to get back at me," Sophia said through gritted teeth.

"Oh my," Evelyn feigned surprise, covering her mouth. "I'm not Dad's biological daughter. You must think I'm as stupid as Dad."

Sophia was stunned, unable to react.

"My dad isn't smart, which is why you fooled him for so many years. What made you think I'm as easy to fool as my dad?" Evelyn said happily. "Your daughter is an illegitimate child, born in a private hospital. My birthday is before Jasmine's."

Evelyn tapped the table. "When your daughter was born, Jasmine was still in her mom's belly. So, after Cordelia gave birth to Jasmine, she first swapped her daughter for me, then swapped me for your daughter? All those years of Cordelia's depression and searching for Jasmine were just an act?"

Sophia felt awkward and displeased. "I've raised you for so many years; I wouldn't harm you."

Evelyn wagged her finger. "Not really."

"Evelyn!" Sophia slammed the table.

"Keep your socialite image or all these years of effort will be wasted," Evelyn said, smiling. "Since you're not my mom, I won't be polite. Feel free to drink this coffee; I haven't touched it. You pay the bill since you've scammed a lot of money from my dad."

"Evelyn, sit down!" Sophia was furious, seeing Evelyn about to leave. "You know why I'm here. You're not Willian's daughter, so you shouldn't get the Cunningham family fund. The trust should belong to my daughter. You've enjoyed it for years; it's time to give it up."

Evelyn laughed sarcastically. She had guessed it.

Sophia used her 'daughter' to gain benefits from the Cunningham family, ensuring a comfortable life for herself and her daughter.

The trust gave her over $700,000 a month, which Evelyn always transferred to Sophia because Sophia said she needed money to live with her dad.

It was ridiculous. All these years, her and her dad's living expenses had been supporting Sophia.

"I don't mind being cut from the trust if my dad says so. But he hasn't, and you have no right to make me give it up. You don't even have a title, so don't act like you do." Evelyn was really angry and no longer afraid. "Sophia, if you want the fund for your daughter, go find my dad. See if he would pay any attention to you."

She probably didn't expect this day when she had someone beat up her dad.

"I respected you because I thought you were my mom. You thought I was easy to bully." Evelyn also slapped the table, making a louder noise than Sophia. "Listen up, the trust beneficiary is in my name. I'll change my name tomorrow; this name isn't good for me."

Sophia's fingers trembled with anger.

"Also, adding a successor to the Cunningham family trust requires the consent of both Willian and Cordelia. The fact that I could get into the trust meant it wasn't just my dad's consent. Whatever the reason Cordelia had for allowing me to receive this living expense, it shows her character and vision are beyond your reach." Evelyn picked up the coffee and took a big sip. "Don't forget to pay. I've never taken advantage of you. Today, this coffee is on you."

With that, Evelyn turned and left.

"Evelyn, Cordelia already knows you're not Willian's daughter. Let's see if she'll kick you out of the trust. Her vision is big. Just wait and see if she won't come after you!" Sophia said through gritted teeth, convinced that Cordelia would kick Evelyn out of the trust to get back at Willian.
