Chapter 599: It is Snowing

Boston was getting dumped on with snow.

Back in the day, knowing Jasmine was all about that snow life, Evan booked a flight to Boston for her big 18. He nailed the timing, so when they touched down, it was like a snow globe exploded.

Under those streetlights, with snowflakes everywhere, she felt like the happiest little princess ever.

"Ethan, where we heading?" Jasmine spun around to look at him.

"You'll see when we get there," Ethan said, pulling her close and planting a kiss on her forehead. "Tired? Catch some Z's."

Jasmine nodded. "Justin and Joe."

The kids were at home, finally knocked out for the night.

"Chill, Edgar's got it covered."

Ethan had everything on lock.

Meanwhile, the two kids were wide awake, squatting by the big window, watching their parents drive off.

Joe asked, "Justin, where do you think they are going without us?"

Justin thought for a sec and whispered, "Dad probably took Mom somewhere."

"Are they ditching us?" Joe asked, dead serious.

"Nah, they just didn't want to bring us this time."

"That's so lame," Joe huffed. "I'm getting a new dad."

Justin shook his head, all serious. "No way, Dad's the best."

On the highway, Jasmine got sleepy, laid her head on Ethan's lap, and zonked out.

Tom, sitting shotgun and watching them all lovey-dovey, finally spoke up, "Ethan, you doing this on purpose?"

He knew Tom used to have a thing for Jasmine.

Ethan was totally rubbing it in Tom's face.

"You're overthinking it," Ethan said, not even looking at him. To Ethan, Tom was just a bodyguard, not competition.

Tom still thought he had a shot.

Liam was used to this drama. After a four-hour drive, they finally rolled into a coastal town near Boston from San Francisco.

Jasmine had been out cold. When the car stopped, she slowly woke up.

"Babe." Jasmine rubbed her eyes, and Ethan wrapped her in a big down jacket.

Jasmine looked out the window, surprised to see snow falling under the streetlights. It was like a dream.

She opened the car door and ran out, spinning in the snow under the streetlights.

"It's snowing!"

"Ethan! It's snowing," Jasmine shouted, jumping around.

She was seeing snowflakes again.

She remembered those prison years, staring at the sky, wishing for snow.

But San Francisco never got snow, just like her life, always dark, never light.

But now, everything was different. She'd busted through the darkness and found her light.

Ethan asked, "Wanna see the snowy sea?"

Jasmine looked at Ethan, eyes wide, and jumped into his arms.

Ethan caught her and carried her to their hotel room.

Their room had a killer view of the sea, with snow falling and waves crashing.

"Ethan, what would I do without you?" Jasmine whispered.

"I love you. And I am not going to be your weak spot. Appreciate what you have. Even if you lose it, be stronger," Ethan whispered, wanting Jasmine to toughen up, no matter what.

Jasmine clung to Ethan. "Don't scare me."

She couldn't do it.

Ethan sighed. Connor wanted him to be tough on Jasmine, to make her strong enough to handle losing him, but he couldn't.

Love wasn't about hurting; it was about making each other whole.

He didn't agree with Connor's plan and knew how risky it was for Jasmine if something happened to him. Truly loving her meant not wanting her to suffer.

Her early years were rough enough. As long as he was around, he'd do everything to make her happier.

"Our meeting wasn't just luck; it was fate," Ethan whispered, pinning her against the wall and kissing her.

Jasmine's ears turned red, and her breath got all hot and heavy.

The room was dark, but outside, light and shadows danced together.

Jasmine glanced out the window, then turned back to kiss Ethan.

Ethan kissed her back like he was starving, finally having a chance to be with his wife after being single for over twenty years.

Jasmine got a little nervous. "Don't rip my clothes. Can't you just take them off normally?"

Ethan chuckled, pulling her closer, his fingers slipping under her clothes. "Too much hassle, let's just leave them on."

Jasmine's ears got even redder. "No way, they'll get dirty, and we don't have spares."

"I brought some." Ethan pointed to the suitcase already in the room.

Jasmine felt like Ethan had planned this all along.

"So prepared, huh?" Jasmine whispered, "Did you bring condoms?"

Ethan froze, realizing he forgot the most important thing.

"Not exactly," Ethan said, feeling guilty. The hotel room's condoms didn't fit, and he couldn't wait for Liam and Tom to go buy some.

Jasmine sighed, then wrapped her arms around Ethan's neck and kissed him again.

No condom? Fine. When she got pregnant with Justin and Joe, it only took one night to conceive twins. Her luck should be used up by now, right?

Her period had just ended a few days ago, so it shouldn't be her ovulation period.

Besides, even if she did get pregnant, she'd be happy. She wanted another daughter, a sweet and cute one.

Ethan didn't turn on the lights, a slight smile on his lips.

He had a plan.

Instead of Connor's method, Ethan thought of another one—getting Jasmine pregnant.

With a baby, there'd be a bond. If something happened to him, Jasmine would stay strong for the kid, just like five years ago.

Ethan pressed harder on Jasmine's head, determined to stay safe but fearing the worst. If Howard and Claire went at it, he'd be a target too.

Howard would take out anyone necessary, including him.

That night, Ethan seemed crazed, with endless energy. Despite Jasmine's strength, her voice ended up hoarse from crying.

"You're bad."

Even in her sleep, Jasmine didn't forget to call Ethan a bad guy, tricking her into coming out not to see the snow but to sleep with him.

Ethan looked at Jasmine's sleeping face, smiled, and held her tightly in his arms.

In this life, he was lucky to be with her.

He thought, 'After all the twists and turns, it could only be you.'

The next morning, when Jasmine woke up, her whole body was sore.

Struggling to get up, she saw Ethan standing by the window, looking at the snow with a bright spirit.

Jasmine huffed, walked over barefoot, and stood on tiptoe to bite Ethan's shoulder hard.

Ethan laughed and patted Jasmine's head. "Liam's been undercover for a while and knows the Douglas Group inside out. I need to take him away."

Jasmine nodded. "Okay, but I need to find a good assistant first."

"I've got one for you. He's in right here. Wanna go meet him?" Ethan smiled.

Jasmine was a bit surprised but got dressed and went downstairs with Ethan.

In the lounge, Ben stood up and smiled politely at Jasmine. "Ms. Cunningham, my name's Ben Anderson. I'll be your personal assistant from now on. Please take care of me."
