Chapter 535 Dean's Regret
Ethan frowned, worried Jasmine might be influenced.
But Jasmine just smiled. "I've been with the Wilson family for 21 years. Benjamin supported us, and I owe him. Now that he's gone, I'm here to see him off, fulfill his last wish, and help his favorite illegitimate child get the inheritance."
Jasmine sneered. "Evan took care of me when I was a child. I've repaid him, and we're done. As for you," she said, walking up to Karen, her voice low, "You didn't give birth to me or raise me. I owe you nothing."
Karen was furious. She thought she could manipulate Jasmine with 21 years of upbringing. But Jasmine was no longer the easily controlled girl from five years ago. Now, she had Ethan.
Ethan stood there, exuding authority, making people afraid to mess with Jasmine.
"You're lucky to have a man protecting you, but Jasmine, you're still young. Feelings aren't unique. He can love you today and someone else tomorrow. When that happens, you'll understand why I did what I did. Men are unreliable; you can only rely on yourself," Karen sneered, glancing at Benjamin in the coffin.
"No, men are only reliable when they're dead," Karen muttered.
She thought, 'Otherwise, you can't control them.'
"If you can't control him, that's your fault because you're not worthy of love. Jasmine is different; she deserves to be loved," Ethan corrected Karen, holding Jasmine's hand as they walked away.
"Ethan, you've been investigating your mother's death, right?" Karen asked with a smile.
Ethan frowned and stopped.
"I have something you might be interested in," Karen said through gritted teeth. 'That damn Evan!' she cursed inwardly.
She had dirt on Claire and Howard, initially planning to cooperate with him. But Howard was suspicious and would be wary of her. Now, she needed a backup plan.
Karen couldn't afford to lose.
Jasmine knew Karen was trying to win Ethan over.
Ethan said nothing, raised an eyebrow, smiled, and turned to leave.
If Karen wanted to win him over, she'd come to him again.
Ethan thought, 'No rush, we'll take our time.'
At Sophia's place, she smiled at Aleah. "My son loved you for years, and you dumped him. Do you regret it now?"
Aleah said nothing.
She hadn't met a man who loved her more than Richard since then. Whenever she was heartbroken, she thought of Richard. He became her motivation.
But when she came back, Richard was no longer waiting for her.
Aleah felt unwilling. Richard had loved her so much and promised always to love her. Now that she was back, Richard was gone.
"There are many ways to get Richard back. If there was once love, you can make him fall for you again, understand?" Sophia advised Aleah.
"What should I do?" Aleah asked nervously.
"What does a woman need to capture a man's heart? It's just that. Do I need to spell it out?" Sophia looked at Aleah. She had said the same thing to Lily.
She thought she could control the men behind these women by controlling them.
"But Richard is very wary of me. I can't get close to him at all," Aleah said, her voice trembling.
Sophia looked at Aleah with disdain. "Do I need to spell it out? That bitch Betty is pregnant. Men need their physical needs met the most when their wives are pregnant, understand?"
She believed all men were like this because she had used this tactic with Willian. When their wives were pregnant and couldn't meet their needs, men would seek others. They are often open to anyone who meets their basic requirements..
But Sophia overestimated herself and underestimated Richard.
"If Betty gives birth to that child, we have no chance," Aleah said softly. She really didn't want Betty to have that child.
"The child must be born. As for Betty," Sophia squinted her eyes, "if she dies in childbirth, it's a win-win."
The child could inherit all of Betty's property.
"A woman, especially an angry one, is more likely to die in childbirth if she's agitated. Modern medicine can save the child," Sophia said, her words full of meaning.
Aleah was stunned for a moment, then nodded. "I understand what to do now."
Suddenly, there was a loud knock on the door, and the visitor seemed hostile.
Sophia frowned, wondering who it could be.
Aleah got up to open the door and saw Willian standing outside, full of anger with a dark face.
"Mr. Cunningham."
Before Aleah could finish, Willian stormed in, walked up to Sophia, and threw a paternity test report in her face. "You bitch, how could you forge a paternity test! You venomous woman."
Sophia frowned, looking at the paternity test. It was the result of Willian and Evelyn's paternity test.
Clearly, Willian had found out that Evelyn was not his daughter.
Her expression didn't change much. Sophia spoke in a low voice, "Aleah, you should go now."
Aleah nodded, grabbed her things, and ran out, afraid of being implicated.
Willian's face was twisted with anger, pointing at Sophia's nose and cursing. "You bitch, whose child is Evelyn!"
Sophia stood up slowly and made a phone call. In no time, three or four strong men came in and dragged Willian out.
"Sophia, you venomous woman, what else are you hiding from me? What are they doing? Let me go." Willian couldn't believe Sophia. This woman had completely shattered his perception.
"I did give you a daughter, your biological daughter, but Evelyn is a child I brought in from outside," Sophia said calmly, sneering at Willian. "Are you very angry? Do you feel like a fool? Yes, you are a fool."
"You're utterly vicious!" For the first time, Willian felt the urge to hit a woman.
Unfortunately, Sophia's hired men were very strong.
"Teach him a good lesson." Sophia had long wanted to beat Willian. She had been submissive to him for years, and now she wanted revenge.
With a bruised and swollen face, deeply regretting it, Willian shamelessly ran back to the Cunningham family to find Cordelia.
"Cordelia, Cordelia, open the door. Are you going to let me die?" Willian pounded on the door, his eyes swollen and red. "That bitch tricked me. Cordelia, aren't you going to do something?"
Now that Sophia had controlled Willian, he thought of Cordelia and wanted her help.
