Chapter 851 Edgar is not a loser

The Cunningham Group.

Edward was busy working when Edgar, reeking of alcohol, stumbled in and collapsed on the sofa, falling asleep immediately.

Edward frowned. "Did you go out and fool around last night?"

Edgar didn't respond, just turned over and continued to sleep.

Edward, feeling helpless, put down his work and went to make some honey water for Edgar.

He and Nolan cared a lot about Edgar.

"Drink some honey water. Why did you drink so much? The smell of alcohol is too strong." Edward frowned, wanting to scold him but then thought better of it, considering Edgar's age and wanting to give him some dignity.

When he walked over to the sofa, Edward noticed that Edgar wasn't actually asleep; he had his face buried in his hands.

Sensing something was wrong, Edward reached out and gently pulled Edgar's hands away, only to find his eyes red and teary.

Edward was shocked and felt a sudden pang of anxiety. "What happened? Did Nolan die?"

Edgar sniffled. "What are you talking about?"

At that moment, Nolan, who was in Sunrise City, sneezed twice.

"Edward, do I look like a loser to you?" Edgar asked seriously, sniffling again.

Edward looked at Edgar and smiled. "What do you mean by loser? You showed extraordinary talent in painting at the age of three, won an award for your first independent design at thirteen, and later created your own brand. The brand you established is now a top luxury and affordable luxury brand. You've made so much money at a young age and can travel the world without relying on the family. Who has a 'loser' like that?"

Edward was genuinely praising Edgar.

Outsiders often thought that Edgar from the Cunningham family was a good-for-nothing playboy, but only Edward knew how amazing Edgar really was.

Edgar sniffled again. "Edward, your praise makes me feel guilty. If I'm really that great, then why won't Avery be with me?"

Edward was taken aback. It seemed the rumors he had heard were true.

The Hawthorne Group was in trouble. Due to the influence of Kavi and Owen, their funding chain had been cut off, and they were now under investigation for various illegal profits and tax issues.

Owen was in prison, but Avery was the one holding up the entire Hawthorne Group amidst all this trouble.

Edgar was great, but he couldn't help Avery.

In other words, Avery, as a woman, was under immense pressure and needed to find a strong ally through marriage.

She didn't want the Hawthorne Group to collapse, so she had to hold on by herself.

"She's going to marry the president of Vanguard Holdings Group." Edgar's eyes were red. "That man is a scumbag with countless mistresses. I couldn't stand it and hit him, but Avery defended him and called me immature."

"In this matter, you were indeed quite immature. You shouldn't hit someone first." Edward looked at Edgar and spoke again. "You remember, given the difficulties Avery is facing right now, she has no other choice."

"Steven is cleaning up the Hughes Group and eliminating Kavi's illegal businesses, which will inevitably affect the Hawthorne Group. They are all interconnected, and the Hawthorne Group is now solely relying on Avery."

Edward sighed. Avery calling Edgar immature wasn't entirely unreasonable because Edgar couldn't understand her struggles.

"But... we can help her." Edgar couldn't understand Avery, as the Cunningham family would also help her if she marry him.

"Maybe she doesn't trust us." Edward said meaningfully, frowning.

"What do you mean?" Edgar didn't understand.

"It's not that she doesn't trust you; maybe she doesn't trust the Cunningham family." Edward wasn't sure what Avery was thinking.

"Given the current situation, among the groups with business ties to the Hughes Group and Kavi, the Hawthorne Group and the Powell Corporation have suffered heavy losses. Only the Cunningham Group has not only remained unaffected but has also gained the most benefits in the midst of it all."

Edward rubbed his temples. "It's hard not to arouse suspicion and misunderstanding."

Edgar thought about it carefully and realized it made sense. "But no one in our family is in cahoots with Kavi. I'll go explain."

Edgar got up, ready to find Avery.

"Alright, calm down for a moment. With your emotional intelligence..." Edward pulled Edgar back and sighed helplessly. "I'll find an opportunity to sound out Avery and see what's going on with her."

Edgar looked deflated. "Edward, you have to help me. If she gets married, I'll be single all life."

"As long as you don't fall in love with man, everything will be fine." Edward patted Edgar's head.

"Edward, you're being homophobic." Edgar retorted.

Edward glanced at Edgar. "You are indeed quite immature. I'm not homophobic; I'm afraid of you. You've done so many outrageous things in the past. Otherwise, when Joe was sent to our doorstep, no one would have doubted he wasn't your son."

Fortunately, they didn't suspect it back then and didn't send Joe away. Thinking about it now, it was a blessing.

"I was young and foolish back then." Edgar argued.

"So, for all the carefree times in the past, now you have to hold back. This is your punishment." Edward didn't coddle him.

He turned and rubbed his temples, letting out a sigh of relief. "Crying here because you got dumped, I thought something happened to Nolan."

Sunrise City.

Nolan had been sneezing a lot these past few days, and today it was particularly bad.

"Do I have allergic rhinitis?" He muttered.

Amelia, with her pregnant belly, was arranging freshly picked flowers in the gazebo, preparing to make flower pastries.

"Your belly wasn't that noticeable a few days ago, but now it's obvious. It's amazing." Nolan looked at Amelia's belly with a curious and complex feeling.

He hugged Amelia from behind, placing his hand on her belly. "Has baby kicked you again?"

"He's not your child, so why do you care?" Amelia brushed Nolan's hand away and continued making the flower pastries.

Nolan's eyes showed a hint of sadness as he sat down quietly.

The mistakes of the past had left him with no way out, and now every moment was filled with pain and torment.

"Amelia, who is the father of the child?" Nolan asked softly.

"He's definitely not you." Amelia had no intention of revealing the child's parentage to Nolan, even though she knew Nolan was dying.

She harbored resentment and still wanted to punish him.

But she didn't want Nolan to die.

Thinking of this, Amelia asked Nolan softly, "Have you felt unwell recently?"

Nolan was taken aback and thought for a moment. "No, I haven't."

"You're an adult; you should get regular check-ups. Tomorrow, when I go for my prenatal check-up, don't eat or drink anything and get a check-up too." Amelia was still worried and wanted him to get checked again. She planned to secretly ask the doctor if there was any hope.

"Okay." Nolan nodded.

Arabella's bed and breakfast had opened, offering various discounts and promotions with celebrities and internet influencers endorsing it. Now, it was fully booked, while their place had become quiet, with only returning guests.

With fewer guests at Amelia's bed and breakfast, it was a good time to get a check-up.
