Chapter 471 Ethan's Slander

Christopher stormed downstairs, cursing under his breath as he left the dining room. His face was dark, and he had just lit a cigarette when someone bumped into his shoulder.

He snapped, "Watch where you're going!"

Looking up, he saw Tom, a guy half a head taller than him, glaring at him with a predatory look, his hat pulled low.

Christopher was taken aback by this fool. He frowned and took a step back. "Fine, I'm outta here."

He knew he couldn't take Tom.

That day at the club, Tom had stormed in and started a brawl. Despite their numbers, they couldn't beat him.

It was a pity he didn't join the army.

Even a shoulder bump from him would make others hurt.

"Watch your step, and don't step on my foot, or I'll beat you every time I see you," Tom warned in a low voice.

Christopher let out an angry scoff. Tom had always acted arrogantly at school, relying on being Ethan's cousin.

Given the current strength of the Whites family, they couldn't compare to the Hawthorne family, yet he was still so brazen.

Christopher continued, "Tom, do you think Ethan, who was kicked out by the Douglas family, can protect you forever?"

"Who are you talking about?" Tom couldn't stand anyone badmouthing Ethan.

Even though Ethan hadn't given him the promised Cullinan yet.

Seeing Tom about to fight, Christopher's bodyguards quickly rushed over to shield him.

"Ethan is a stray cur now. The once high and mighty chairman of the Douglas Group is now a joke. Do you know what people in the business circles are saying about him? They say he's so down and out that he has to marry into the Cunningham family."

Christopher, relying on bodyguards presence, laughed arrogantly.

Tom clenched his fists in anger and punched a bodyguard in the face, then charged at Christopher.

However, Christopher's bodyguards were quite dutiful and held Tom tightly.

"Beat him! Beat him to death!" Christopher, relying on his numbers, threw his cigarette butt and ordered his men to beat Tom.

"Ethan's company is almost bankrupt thanks to the Douglas Group. Just a few days ago, their project team came begging our Hawthorne family for a collaboration. Even if I kill you today, Ethan can't save you. He'd have to kneel before me if he came," Christopher said arrogantly.

At the restaurant entrance, Avery looked at Christopher as if he were an idiot.

She thought, 'Good, let him bask in it for a few days.'

Connor walked out with a dark expression. He glared at the two bodyguards who were holding Tom and said in a deep voice, "Stop!"

Walking over to Tom, Connor frowned. "I leave you alone for a moment, and you're already fighting. Can you stop being so annoying?"

Tom's eyes were red with anger. He looked at Connor and said through gritted teeth, "Are you helping this bastard?"

"Isn't this my dear uncle?" Christopher laughed, taunting Connor. "Connor, what are you doing here? What a coincidence!"

Connor removed these restraints and placed them in the car. He walked over and raised his hand to block the two bodyguards. "These two are mine."

Tom was momentarily stunned. Was Connor going to fight?

Before Tom could react, Connor's fist had already landed on the bodyguard's face, his movements swift and terrifying.

Connor was formidable; even Tom would have to rely on endurance to fight him.

Seeing the situation turn against him, Christopher turned and ran.

"Catch up to him! You can still catch up." Connor frowned at Tom.

Tom finally snapped out of it and sneered. "I'll give him a half-mile head start."

With that, he took off after Christopher.

Connor smiled helplessly. After fighting and venting, he felt surprisingly light.

Venting in this way was something he had never tried before. However, it wasn't so bad.

Meanwhile, Christopher, who had run quite a distance, was kicked into the bushes by the swiftly approaching Tom.

Christopher crawled out, glaring at Tom with resentment. "You're really something. Why don't you go to the Olympics?"

"If it weren't for my injury, I wouldn't need you to tell me that," Tom retorted, kicking him twice. "People like you have no right to speak ill of Ethan. When he was leading the Douglas family to the top, you were still a baby."

Christopher gritted his teeth. Tom was the type who feared nothing—a lunatic, a madman. Christopher knew he couldn't avoid his beating.

Anyone else wouldn't dare provoke the Hawthorne family or him.

But Tom wasn't afraid at all.

No matter how he threatened, it was useless.

"Tom, I'm telling you, if you touch me today, I'll make sure your Whites family disappears from Silverlight City tomorrow," Christopher snarled.

"You're really something. Ask your dad if he dares to mess with my family because of you. I'm not afraid of you." Tom sneered, each punch landing with satisfying force.

Tom said angrily, "And keep Ethan's name out of your mouth."

Connor, maintaining his cool and dignified demeanor, walked over when everything was almost done and said, "Tom, let's go."

Tom snorted, flexed his wrist, and followed Connor obediently.

However, Christopher was seething with rage. "Tom, so you're Connor's dog. You wait."

Tom glanced at Connor. "Can I hit him again?"

"Let it go this time," Connor said calmly.

"Why?" Tom asked.

"He's not wrong; you do look like a dog," Connor said expressionlessly, getting into the car. But as soon as he was seated, a barely noticeable smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.

Outside the car, Tom was furious. "Connor, if it weren't for Ethan's Cullinan, I'd beat you up too."

"Alright, let's fight someday," Connor said nonchalantly.

Suddenly, he found himself intrigued by that extreme, frenzied way of venting.

Tom was instantly interested. "Deal!"

Connor leaned back in his seat while looking out the window, silent for the rest of the ride.

At the Cunningham family's residence.

Ethan brought Jasmine back home, only to find the whole family waiting in the living room.

"Our little princess didn't even bother to talk to the family about getting the marriage license," Evelina said with a smile.

Jasmine blushed and lowered her head. "I thought, we've always been a couple, just going to get the certificate, everyone knows."

"That's not acceptable. Now you're Yasmine Cunningham, my sister. Whether someone qualifies to be your husband still needs to be assessed," Edgar said with a sarcastic tone.

"Bingo! We need to assess him," Nolan chimed in.

However, Edward smiled calmly. "Anyone Jasmine likes can't be that bad."

"Mom, Nolan is at the marriage age and still not married. There are so many rumors outside. Today, I even heard someone say he likes men. It's ridiculous," Ethan went over to Cordelia to gossip.

Cordelia glared at Nolan. "If I don't see your girlfriend by Christmas, don't come back."

Nolan was furious.

"And Edgar, there are all sorts of bad rumors about you outside," Ethan continued to squeal.

Cordelia glared at Edgar. "You too. By Christmas, you must bring your girlfriend back and settle down. If you all were half as well-behaved as Ethan, I wouldn't be so concerned every day."

Nolan and Edgar clenched their fists, seeing Ethan as the troublemaker.

Evelina's phone rang; it was Alex calling.

"Evelina, come save me." Alex's voice sounded off.

Evelina frowned, not understanding what he meant. "What are you talking about?"

"Alex, open the door." Karen's voice came from the other end of the line. "Alex, let's talk about the child."
