Chapter 651 Jasmine hit Deborah

Deborah landed a huge project, making her a big deal at the Hawthorne Group.

She was the eldest daughter of the Hawthorne family who had been away for a while, and now it seemed like Deborah's side was gaining more supporters than Avery's.

"The chairman's waiting for you to start the meeting. Word is, he wants to give your position to Deborah." Kayla rushed over to Avery as soon as she walked into the company, looking pretty upset.

Avery smirked. "He's gunning for me; it's just a matter of time."

"Sis, what a coincidence." Deborah strolled in, all smiles and energy, greeting Avery.

Kayla, standing next to Avery, shot her a glare. "You definitely have bad intentions."

Deborah was used to Kayla's jabs; to her, they were just minor annoyances.

"I heard Dad wants me to take over the company. I turned him down. If I did, what would you do?" Deborah asked with a sweet smile, looking all innocent.

Avery ignored her and headed straight for the elevator.

Kayla blocked Deborah from getting in, using one hand to stop her and the other to quickly close the door.

Deborah frowned. "What's your problem?"

"At our company, pets aren't allowed in the fancy elevator. And guess what? You're the only one who doesn't fit the 'human' bill around here." Kayla shot back and quickly shut the elevator door.

Deborah was fuming, clenching her fists.

She thought, 'Fine. Kayla's only this cocky because of Avery. Let's see how she acts when Avery's authority is stripped in the meeting!'

In the meeting room, Owen looked serious, gripping his cane with both hands. "Is everyone here?"

"Dad, the Dream Isle project held me up a bit. Sorry I'm late," Deborah walked in, smiling and making sure everyone in the room heard her.

"Avery, I can't stand her fake act." Kayla was fuming.

Avery gave her a helpless smile and a warning look. "No matter what happens, keep quiet."

She was worried she couldn't protect her otherwise.

"But..." Kayla's eyes were red with worry. These people were too much.

Avery, the legitimate daughter who had greatly contributed to the Hawthorne Group, faced the threat of losing her authority simply because Deborah had used underhanded tactics to secure those projects. It was unjust.

Avery shook her head and sat down, looking indifferent.

It wasn't that she didn't want to fight; it just wasn't the right time.

With Ethan in trouble, her collaboration with Betty and Ethan was on hold. Now was a critical time; she needed to wait and see how things unfolded.

"Everyone's noticed what's been happening with the company lately. Avery, you've been slacking off. What's going on?" Owen asked pointedly.

"The project department's foundation has to be strong, not just about seizing opportunities. Deborah's handling external matters. I'm just making sure we're solid here to catch the Hawthorne Group if things go south and save you all. Am I off base?" Avery replied firmly.

"Young people need to be daring and proactive. Lack of ability can't be excused by conservatism. I reckon Deborah is a better fit for your job right now.," the vice chairman chimed in, clearly siding with Deborah.

"Lately, a lot of folks have been rooting for Deborah to step into your shoes as the executive president." Owen nodded. "However, everyone has also seen Avery's abilities and contributions to our company."

After a moment of silence, Owen was about to speak.

"Sir, Avery has really been a rock for our company, guiding us through some of our roughest patches. Now you want to abandon her?" Kayla interrupted Owen, her eyes red.

Avery frowned, worried she couldn't protect her.

She had indulged Kayla's temperament, but it was also to protect her.

"Avery, you need to choose the right people around you. Do you think you can keep this assistant?" Owen asked sternly.

"What kind of meeting is this? Does she even get to talk?" The vice president slammed the table in anger.

These folks didn't have the guts to go after Avery directly, so they took it out on Kayla instead.

Deborah smirked at Avery. "I totally didn't see this coming. Everyone seems to think I'm more qualified, but I still believe you're the better fit for the job."

"You're shameless!" Kayla snapped. If Avery left, she wouldn't stick around either.

"Since you're Avery's assistant, I've put up with you countless times. This is a meeting, and I said Avery's a better fit for this job. Why are you getting so worked up?" Deborah played the victim card.

Kayla, eyes red with anger, pointed at Deborah. "If a dog bites you, wouldn't you be anxious? Of course, I'm anxious. You're acting like a complete psycho."

"Get out!" Owen shouted sternly.

Avery suddenly stood up, ready to leave with Kayla.

"Avery!" Owen was furious. "Are you sure you want to leave with her?"

Just as Owen was about to announce giving the president position to Deborah, the meeting room door was kicked open.

The door wasn't very sturdy and fell off.

Tom, who had kicked the door, was startled and looked to Jasmine for help. "Will I have to pay for that?"

"Go wild today. I'll back you up," Jasmine said coldly as she walked into the meeting room, heading straight for Owen.

Security tried to stop her, but Tom knocked one out with a punch, and Ben blocked the rest at the door.

Everyone present was stunned.

It took a while for them to react.

Even Avery was momentarily stunned, then crossed her arms and leaned against the wall to watch.

Kayla was shocked. "Is this the Cunningham family's heiress?"

"Don't get too close, you might get hurt." Avery raised an eyebrow, smiling.

"Ms. Cunningham? What do you mean by barging in with people like this?" The VP of Hawthorne Group stepped up to halt Jasmine.

Jasmine raised her hand and slapped him.

The vice president was stunned, holding his face in place. Was Jasmine crazy?

It took Deborah a while to react, and she also stepped forward to stop her.

Jasmine didn't give her a chance to speak, slapping her hard enough almost to knock her onto the table.

Ever since being with Ethan, who was extremely disciplined, Jasmine had been doing fitness, running, and martial arts with him daily. Combined with her dance training, Jasmine was now very strong.

Deborah, holding her face, looked at Jasmine in disbelief. "Jasmine, are you crazy?"

Jasmine slapped her again.

Deborah tried to speak, and Jasmine slapped her again.

Jasmine thought, 'If you open your mouth, I'll slap you.'

By the wall, Avery and Kayla were very happy, their shoulders shaking slightly, both showing approval.

"What do you mean by coming here and causing trouble?" Owen asked with a stern face, still very imposing.

Unfortunately, Jasmine wasn't afraid of anyone now.

"I'm here to settle the score with you," Jasmine said, grabbing Deborah's hair and dragging her out. "Get out of the way."

Then she walked up to Owen, looking very fierce.

Tom rushed over and pushed a chair behind Jasmine. She sat down dominantly and slammed a recording pen on the table.

Deborah, thrown to the ground, looked at Jasmine in shock, along with all the executives.

Was this woman crazy?

Owen looked at the recording pen on the table, then looked at Deborah and the vice president without changing his expression. "You all leave. I have something to discuss with Jasmine."

Deborah clenched her fists in anger. "Jasmine! What do you mean?"

Was Ethan back? Jasmine hit her and Deborah wouldn't let her leave the Hawthorne Group quietly today! She wanted to see if Ethan would come to take Jasmine away after she had her detained.
