Chapter 652 Kill Mark
"Hey, watch your step. Did you get your face swollen from that slap?" Avery strolled out of the conference room, grinning at Deborah.
Deborah's face twisted with rage, and she clenched her teeth. "You better watch yourself."
Deborah stormed back to her office. "That damn Jasmine, she's nuts! Why didn't security stop her?"
Laura nervously approached and whispered, "Our company security is contracted with Avery and LY. All the security personnel are Jasmine's people. She can come and go as she pleases."
Deborah was momentarily stunned, her expression darkening. "I can't believe she's got such skills and schemes. I totally underestimated her."
At first, Deborah didn't take LY seriously, especially because of their security department, which she looked down on even more.
Jasmine was indeed clever. LY managed the Douglas Group's security, and the guards played a big role in Jasmine's takeover.
She really knew how to play the game.
"Tell the management department to cancel the security contract with LY!" Deborah spat out, determined not to let a threat grow under her nose.
"Deborah, you're still just a director. Today's meeting was interrupted by Jasmine, and since you haven't taken over as the executive president from Avery, you don't have the power to overturn Avery's decision," Laura said nervously.
"Plus," Laura took a deep breath and continued, "breaching the contract would mean paying a hefty penalty."
Deborah's hands shook with anger. "Jasmine, Avery! Once I'm running this show, they'll pay for this!"
First thing, she'd replace the security with her own people.
"Come here," Deborah said, taking a deep breath to calm herself. "Do me a favor, distract the security in the underground parking lot, and find someone to drive Jasmine away."
Deborah didn't believe Ethan was really in trouble; she just wanted to see if he could stay calm.
"Jasmine has an assistant and a bodyguard with her. How do we divert their attention?" Laura asked, worried she couldn't pull it off.
"Don't worry about that. I have a way to deal with the bodyguard," Deborah said confidently. She had someone planted next to Tom, and it was time to use them.
Deborah called Beth with confidence. "I heard you've been working your magic on Tom, and he's been all over you lately"
Beth laughed. "Sure thing, he even splurged on a latte for me yesterday, but he's a bit cheap, only dropped a few bucks."
Beth gritted her teeth. "Is he really a rich guy?"
Deborah didn't care about that and spoke in a low voice, "Don't worry about that. Just get him to come to you."
"Now?" Beth asked.
"Yes."
After hanging up, Deborah spoke coldly, "I don't believe Jasmine has any other tricks. Without Ethan backing her, with her severe depression, she wouldn't be in this state."
Sitting on the sofa, Deborah felt uneasy. Was Jasmine's current state due to a stress response, or was Ethan still supporting her without any issues?
If Ethan wasn't in trouble and everything was a facade, then she couldn't act rashly now.
Deborah dialed up psychologist Elbert. "Hey, Doc, I need your advice. My friend's husband had an accident in another city, and we're not sure if he's okay. She was really depressed before, but now she's not talking about suicide. Is that normal?"
"No signs of suicide?" Elbert asked, sounding calm.
"Definitely no suicidal signs, she's actually causing a stir around here," Deborah said, trying to figure out if Jasmine's behavior was normal.
"From what you're telling me, it sounds like your friend's husband is likely okay. Typically, someone with severe depression would have a hard time managing suicidal thoughts if they lost their support," Elbert explained in a low voice.
Deborah narrowed her eyes. So, Ethan wasn't really in trouble. Otherwise, how could Jasmine be so bold and confrontational?
After hanging up, Deborah smirked. She'd see how long Ethan could keep up the charade.
Meanwhile, Jasmine played a recording for Owen in the conference room, watching his reaction closely.
"Are you here to question me just because of some gossip? You're still too young and not firm enough in your position," Owen said in a deep voice, not missing a chance to lecture her.
"He almost destroyed the entire Douglas family. Isn't his word enough?" Jasmine knew Owen wouldn't admit anything without solid evidence.
But Jasmine's goal wasn't to force Owen to confess. She wanted to use him to deal with Mark.
"You're still too young. You can't believe such words," Owen said, his voice growing colder as he listened to the recording.
Jasmine sneered. "I might not have proof yet, but Owen, the feud between the Douglas family and the Hawthorne family is no joke. If I discover proof that you went after my husband, you won't get away with it."
Owen sneered back, thinking Jasmine was overconfident.
Jasmine put away the recorder and stood up, looking Owen in the eye. "I hope you can sleep well at night from now on."
Owen clenched his fists and slammed them on the table as Jasmine left.
"Mark!" Owen growled through gritted teeth.
"Chairman," Assistant Marcus Coleman quickly ran in.
"Have someone take care of Mark, and make it clean," Owen ordered in a low voice.
To him, Mark was no longer useful. Worse, he had become a liability.
"But Mark knows a lot about us. If we push him too hard," Marcus whispered.
"Make it clean," Owen repeated, his voice icy.
"Yes, sir," Marcus nodded quickly.
Outside, Jasmine put on her headphones and walked into the elevator with Ben.
"Where's Tom?" Jasmine asked.
"He mentioned something urgent came up and split," Ben replied, unsure of Tom's whereabouts.
Jasmine took off her headphones and looked at Ben. "Mark might not have lied, but Owen is definitely not the top dog."
Ben nodded.
While negotiating with Owen, Jasmine had planted a bug under the conference room table.
Just as the elevator doors were about to close, a hand reached in.
Avery walked in and raised an eyebrow at Jasmine. "Is your car in the underground parking lot?"
Jasmine nodded.
Avery, always the charmer, could make any girl blush.
"Let's go. I'll give you a ride," Avery said calmly, hands in his pockets.
