Chapter 811 Steven and Richard Fought Hard for Their Daughter
Muskow.
Lisa limped towards the bank.
This was already the tenth private bank she and Raymond had investigated.
They had to admit, Mark was indeed very cautious. He had stored his assets in more than twenty different banks.
"Kavi is wary of Mark. Some of the banks have been robbed, clearly targeting the assets Mark hid," Raymond said, looking around warily and frowning. "We've been investigating Mark's assets, and now we're being watched. It's not safe for you to stay in Muskow. I'll stay here and arrange for someone to send you back to Silverlight City tomorrow."
"No," Lisa shook her head. "You had nothing to do with this from the start. I promised the police I would see this through. Being an undercover agent is inherently dangerous, and this is my honor. Don't take it from me."
Raymond glanced at Lisa and smiled helplessly. "You've already done a great job, saved many people, and earned your honor."
"Raymond," Lisa lowered her eyes and sat on a nearby bench, dragging her unsteady leg. "People shouldn't make mistakes, really."
"If you must do bad things, never be kind, or it will be a lifetime of torment." Her voice was hoarse.
"What bad things have you done?" Raymond asked.
"I..." Lisa looked at Raymond, a bit angry. "You know I'm the daughter of a mistress and fought with Ethan over the family inheritance."
"That was your mom using you. You were just like a pawn. "With your intelligence... that doesn't really count as something bad you've done, does it?"" Raymond laughed.
Lisa was a bit angry but couldn't refute.
After thinking for a moment, Lisa spoke again. "When I was in school, I was arrogant. I couldn't stand good students like Jasmine and always wanted to outshine her, always comparing myself to her."
Although she wasn't like Zelda, who bullied others at school, she was always competing with Jasmine and did use some dirty methods to prove she was better.
"That was a bit excessive," Raymond nodded. "So, did you apologize to Jasmine?"
Lisa nervously clutched her clothes. "I did, but apologizing doesn't mean the hurt disappears."
"Then spend the rest of your life making it up to her," Raymond held Lisa's hand.
Just as Lisa was about to say something, a car sped towards them.
"Watch out!" Lisa instinctively pushed Raymond away.
Raymond reacted quickly, grabbing Lisa's wrist and pulling her into his arms.
Lisa breathed heavily, looking at the car that had crashed into a pillar with lingering fear.
Raymond frowned, glaring angrily at the driver.
This wasn't Silverlight City, the security was poor, and they needed to leave quickly.
"Richard and Steven came to Muskow to meet us, but we haven't heard from them. They must be in trouble too. Let's head back to the hotel," Raymond said, pulling Lisa's hand and leaving quickly.
Lisa's leg hadn't fully recovered, making it difficult for her to walk.
Raymond simply carried her in his arms and headed towards the hotel.
After so many days without finding the evidence Mark left behind, it not only showed that Mark was a cautious person but also indicated that the truth behind it was deeply entangled.
Coupled with the previous Harper family list incident and the cause of Zelda's parents' deaths, everything was interconnected.
Moreover, Kavi was too reckless in trying to kill Steven.
Now, he wanted to get rid of Lisa too.
Muskow, suburban farm warehouse.
When Richard woke up, he was hanging upside down from a beam, his head filled with blood.
There was blood at the corner of his mouth and a wound on his forehead, which was the injuries from the car accident and subsequent abduction.
His whole body hurt badly, but being hung up like this, he couldn't care about that for now.
He observed his surroundings and found that he was the only one hanging there.
Fortunately, he was professionally trained and easily freed himself from the rope.
Listening cautiously, Richard wanted to rescue Steven.
He and Steven had anticipated that Kavi would take a risk and attack them on the way from the airport, so they had prepared in advance. Even so, they were still injured.
"Still not willing to sign the video will?" he heard someone talking in the adjacent warehouse.
They were forcing Steven to record a video will and sign property and stock transfer agreements.
But Steven would never sign.
"Where's Kavi? I want to see him," Steven said in a deep voice.
To make him appear on camera and sign, they hadn't hit his face or hands, but his body was already covered in wounds.
Kavi's men were desperados; they were good at torturing Steven.
"You don't deserve to see Kavi, I advise you to sign quickly and suffer less," the person said in a deep voice.
"If I can't see him, I won't sign," Steven's voice was low.
The leader's face darkened, grabbing Steven by the collar. "Do you want to die?"
Steven sneered. "You don't want me dead right now. If I die, all my inheritance goes to my wife Betty and my daughter."
It wouldn't go to Kavi at all.
Kavi was convinced that Indigo was his daughter, which was why he acted so urgently.
"Finally admitting that little girl is your daughter," the other sneered. "Our people have already gone to capture that little girl. Crushing her is as easy as crushing an ant."
Hiding behind, Richard's face darkened.
Steven, however, wasn't afraid at all and laughed mockingly. "Since Kavi returned to Silverlight City, he's been trying to take my daughter. But did he succeed? In Silverlight City, trying to take my child from the Cunningham family, he's dreaming."
Indigo was be well protected, and Kavi was out of options, which was why he resorted to this.
"The expanse of future time stretches vast, whether she survives to adulthood remains a matter of fortune." the leader sneered.
Behind the wall, Richard wanted to rush out and curse. Indigo was his daughter, okay? What did it have to do with Steven? These people were crazy.
But Richard also knew that with someone like Kavi, the more he explained, the more suspicious Kavi became. Kavi was too paranoid.
Moreover, as long as Steven didn't publicly say Indigo wasn't his daughter, Indigo, as Betty's daughter, had the right to inherit Steven's property.
So, the only way to ensure Indigo's safe growth was to completely eliminate Kavi's criminal gang.
"At least for now, my daughter is safe," Steven provocatively looked at the other. "So, I want to see Kavi. If I can't see him, I won't sign anything."
"If you have the guts, kill me." His voice was low.
The person frowned and went aside to call Kavi.
Steven squinted his eyes, exchanging a glance with Richard, who had sneaked in and was hiding in the corner.
They were just waiting for Kavi to fall into the trap.
