Chapter 663 Ethan Isn't Coming Back
San Fransisco's winter was still cold. Although it didn't go below freezing, the cold wind cut to the bone.
Jasmine sat in the car, looking at the scenery outside the window.
She thought, 'When will he come back?'
"You have a prenatal checkup scheduled today." Ben glanced at the time; he always had everything well-organized.
"Okay."
Jasmine nodded, leaning against the car window in silence.
When she first found out she was pregnant, Jasmine had mixed feelings.
On one hand, she was scared because of the shadow of giving birth to Joe and Justin. On the other hand, she was excited and looking forward to it because Ethan would be by her side this time.
From the blood test confirming HCG to the repeated checks for doubling, Jasmine felt both nervous and sweet because Ethan was there.
But now, she was going to the checkup alone, going to the hospital alone.
She was going home alone, sleeping in a cold and soulless big bed alone.
"Jasmine, I love you."
Ethan's words of love echoed in her mind.
Jasmine silently responded in her heart, 'I miss you.'
"It's snowing."
The car stopped in the parking lot of Capital Hospital, and Ben got out, surprised.
It rarely snows in San Fransisco, and even if it did, it's usually sleet that melts as soon as it hit the ground, like ice.
But today, snow had actually accumulated on the branches.
Jasmine got out of the car, looked up at the gray sky, and suddenly realized she didn't like snowy days as much anymore.
Because she had once seen light in the snow, and without that light, she no longer liked snowy days.
Ethan was really cruel. After showing her that snow, she never thought about the snow Evan had shown her that year.
Now, Jasmine saw him in the snow, in the flowers, and on the road.
"Your progesterone is too low, but the fetal heartbeat and buds are fine. Try to keep the pregnancy." After the checkup, the doctor gave Jasmine a few instructions. "You must rest well and avoid any anger or stress."
Jasmine nodded. "Okay."
"You need companionship at this time," the doctor cautiously said.
Almost everyone in San Fransisco knew about Ethan's accident, and as Jasmine's attending physician, the doctor was certainly aware.
Jasmine didn't speak.
Companionship?
When she gave birth to Justin and Joe, no one was there to accompany her.
Ben stood behind Jasmine and spoke softly, "Okay, Sir. We will be careful."
"It's best if the child's father can accompany you. The fetal heartbeat development isn't very good, and we need to cooperate with genetic testing because the first child had some health issues. And you have a congenital heart problem. So to be safe," the doctor said tentatively.
Everyone knew about Ethan's accident, but no one knew if he was alive or dead.
Cooperating with the tests was the father's responsibility.
It was responsible for the pregnant woman and the child.
Jasmine's fingers slowly clenched, and she took a deep breath. "If the tests show the child has problems."
She was scared.
"Then, from the perspective of eugenics, we would suggest." The doctor didn't finish the sentence.
"If we decide to give up this child, the father's signature is required. It's best to have him come over so we can explain the situation to him," the doctor said sincerely.
Jasmine knew the doctor was being responsible for the patient and herself.
"It's okay. I can decide whether to keep the child. If there are real problems, I can make the decision alone," Jasmine said, lowering her head and clenching her hands tightly.
She didn't want to lose this child.
"We will try our best to keep this child. After all, it's just a risk probability, not a certainty that the child has problems." The doctor comforted softly.
Jasmine nodded and stood up, her figure somewhat unsteady.
If only Ethan were here.
When she was helpless, she needed Ethan by her side even more.
"Don't be afraid. Everything will be fine." Ben nervously comforted Jasmine.
Jasmine stood in the hallway, her vision darkening.
"Ma'am." Ben held Jasmine with concern.
Jasmine didn't speak, slowly squatting down.
If something happened to the child too, what would she do?The doctor got up in the consultation room, walked to the door, looked around nervously, and closed the door. With trembling fingers, she made a phone call. "I can basically confirm now that Ethan is indeed in trouble. He has always been very concerned about Jasmine and the child."
If there were certain risks to Jasmine and the child, and Ethan still didn't show up, it meant Ethan was really in trouble.
"And I have a friend in the emergency burn unit. He said their director was always out a month ago, around the time Ethan had his accident. He learned indirectly that a patient initially survived but later died due to massive burn infections leading to organ failure."
The doctor's voice trembled. "I guess the person who died was Ethan."
The man's voice on the other end was low. "Very good."
"I did as you asked. My daughter," the doctor asked nervously.
"Your daughter is fine, attending school," the person on the other end said and then hung up.
The doctor sighed in relief, collapsing weakly into the chair.
Fortunately, the other party only asked her to find out if Ethan was still alive so as not to harm Jasmine and the child.
Otherwise, she would have truly sinned.
Deborah went crazy after returning to the Hawthorne Group.
"Avery has a meeting with Nolan tonight." Laura didn't want to say it at this moment.
But it was important.
"Damn Avery, bitch!" Deborah cursed in the office, losing control of her emotions.
Why hadn't Jasmine and Avery died yet!
"Jasmine thinks she can win against me just because she won this bid? Dream on! Tell those collaborating with LY to cancel all cooperation with LY, or they will be enemies with the Hawthorne Group! Enemies with me!" Deborah was getting anxious.
Deborah would never lose to them.
"Deborah, now is not the time. We are not sure if Ethan is still alive." Laura was anxious.
Deborah felt even worse, Ethan!
If she couldn't have Ethan, she wanted to destroy him.
She now hoped Ethan was dead, never to appear again.
That way, she could trample Jasmine underfoot.
"Schedule a meeting with Nolan for me. I need to see him," Deborah calmed down and said in a deep voice.
Now, she had to take it step by step.
First, ruin Avery and Nolan's engagement, then find out if Ethan was still alive, and then deal with Jasmine.
Suddenly, Deborah's phone rang with a special ringtone.
Deborah's face changed, and she quickly answered the call.
"Ethan is not coming back," the voice on the other end said.
Deborah was stunned, gripping the phone tightly. "Are you sure?"
"Yes." The person hung up. "You can do whatever you want."
Deborah suddenly laughed excitedly.
Even God was helping her! Ethan wasn't coming back!
"Jasmine." Deborah gritted her teeth, her eyes dark. "You're dead!"
At the Bellagio Hotel in San Fransisco, Ian leaned on the table, coughing violently with his body trembling uncontrollably, as he looked at the blood in his palm and gave a bitter smile.
The phone rang.
Ian picked it up and glanced at it; it was a text message: [Ethan is not coming back. You can start the action.]
