Chapter 887 Your Husband's Name is Edward?
Once Avery was pregnant, she could apply for a sentence outside of prison. Whether this child was a blessing or a curse was unknown.
"Of course, since Avery is my wife, the child in her womb is naturally mine," Rhett said meaningfully.
He was using the child and Avery to threaten Edgar.
"Lyanna wants to marry into the Cunningham family..." Edgar took a deep breath, smiled, and tried to stay calm.
"That's how it should be," Rhett said, threateningly looking at Edgar.
"Alright," Edgar raised an eyebrow.
Rhett smiled. "In that case, the Murray family will make an announcement."
The Murray family wanted to use the Cunningham family to break into the Silverlight City market.
Then, they would secure their position in the Silverlight City market with the help of the Hawthorne Group.
One had to admit, Rhett was indeed somewhat clever, but also a scoundrel.
"Do as you please, but if you want to harm Avery, you'll regret it." Edgar warned in a deep voice.
Rhett smiled, confident that he could use Avery to manipulate Edgar.
Seeing that his goal was achieved, Rhett patted Edgar on the shoulder and left.
Edgar slowly released his hands and leaned against the desk.
"Go investigate," Edgar said in a deep voice.
As soon as the assistant left, Jasmine walked in.
"His desire to marry into the Cunningham family is really strong," Jasmine said with a frown.
Edgar rubbed his temples. "Avery is pregnant."
Jasmine was stunned for a moment. Pregnant? They hadn't found out before? Then this child...
Edgar didn't speak; he couldn't be sure either.
Avery was very independent.
"Avery won't be easily manipulated by Rhett," Jasmine frowned.
Edgar shook his head. "She won't be manipulated by anyone."
"Edgar, is the child yours?" Jasmine thought that Avery, being so smart, must have planned ahead.
Avery knew that after getting pregnant, she could get medical parole or a sentence outside of prison.
"I don't know," Edgar's voice was hoarse. "We met the night before she got into trouble."
Avery sought him out that day, telling him to live well even on his own. They made love that night.
Thinking back, it seemed that Avery really only used him. There was no emotion at all.
So, even if Avery was pregnant, Edgar couldn't be happy because Avery wouldn't let the child have anything to do with him.
She would raise the child alone, using the child as a means to get out of prison.
She might not even like the child at all.
"Avery doesn't like children," Edgar smiled bitterly.
He had once thought that if Avery got pregnant, he could marry her, but it turned out that Avery never wanted to have her own child.
She had said before that she hated children and would never have any. She wasn't living to carry on the family line.
At that time, Edgar didn't think much of it. If she didn't want children, they wouldn't have any. After all, there were already so many children in the family. He would treat Joe, Justin, and Ellis as his own.
But now, the Avery who hated children was pregnant.
From the beginning, the child was to be used.
Edgar couldn't feel happy.
"Do you want to go to the hospital to see Avery? I heard her fibula was broken on purpose," Jasmine took a deep breath and spoke again. "It was because of this injury that the hospital found out Avery was pregnant."
Edgar's fingers tightened, his knuckles turning white.
He was really worried about Avery, but he knew Avery didn't want to see him.
"Forget it, I'll go see her for you," Jasmine waved her hand. She didn't want to get involved in their relationship.
But Jasmine had a feeling that this child might really be Edgar's.
"Rhett is really shameless," Jasmine said angrily as she walked back into the conference room, showing Edgar her phone.
Rhett had come today to warn Edgar not to speak out, so as soon as he left, the media reported that the two families were going to marry.
"He was prepared," Edgar said in a deep voice.
"Do we need to do some PR to clarify?" Jasmine asked.
Edgar shook his head.
He admitted he was indeed scared.
Avery was now Rhett's wife. If Rhett did anything to Avery... he couldn't take that risk.
Jasmine glanced at Edgar, sighed, said nothing, and turned to leave.
Edgar had truly fallen deeply for Avery.
But Avery seemed to be naturally indifferent.
Edward's Residence.
Hestia returned home with a large amount of fruits and vegetables, planning to make a nice dinner to welcome Edward back from his business trip.
According to the schedule, Edward should be home in three hours.
Hestia started tidying up the kitchen and cleaning the house. She was eagerly waiting for Edward to come back.
She didn't even realize how much she was looking forward to Edward's return.
She had long considered Edward her husband, her pillar, and her emotional support.
Whenever she faced difficulties or felt sad, she would think that she still had her husband. If worst came to worst, she could quit her job and let Edward support her.
Although she wouldn't really let Edward support her, she felt it was her confidence, a sense of security.
Happily cooking, Hestia transferred some money to Edward because she had successfully become a permanent employee, and her salary had doubled. She was happy.
After cooking, Hestia waited at home happily, but after waiting for a long time, Edward still hadn't returned. She started to get anxious and called him.
He should have landed by now, so why hadn't he come back?
Edward's phone was still off.
Hestia nervously bit her finger, suddenly realizing she didn't know who to contact to find out about Edward's situation.
Since she and Edward had secretly married, she had been reluctant to meet Edward's friends and family, feeling unprepared. But now, she was worried about Edward and didn't know who to contact.
Pacing nervously, Hestia's phone rang. She thought it was Edward and excitedly answered, but it was a colleague.
After hanging up, Hestia anxiously looked at her phone and continued to call Edward.
Still, no one answered.
Edward was very considerate of Hestia's worries, so whether it was a flight delay or a change of plans, he would always tellHestia in advance. But this time, he hadn't.
With no other options, Hestia asked Marlon.
[Marlon, do you know anyone in the CEO's office? My husband is the project manager by Mr. Cunningham's side. He went on a business trip a few days ago and was supposed to return today. Can you help me find out? I can't reach him.]
Hestia was very scared.
Soon, Marlon replied: [What's your husband's name? I'll help you find out.]
[Edward Cunningham.]
Marlon was shocked: [.Are you sure you got the name right?"]
[Yes.]
Soon, the supervisor called Hestia back. "Hestia, are you sure your husband's last name is Cunningham?"
