Chapter 570: Ethan is Jealous

"Ethan, when am I getting my Cullinan?" Tom nagged.

Ethan shot him a look. "When Howard kicks the bucket. Better start praying, man. Pray hard."

Tom scowled. "You think my prayers are gonna off him?"

"Hey, your prayers have been on point since we were kids," Ethan said, dead serious.

Jasmine, nearby, burst out laughing.

Tom glared at her.

Ethan pulled her close. "Who you glaring at? Wanna lose those eyes?"

Tom backed off, trailing behind them. "Sorry."

Liam, off to the side, tried to hold in his laughter, his shoulders shaking.

Tom, unable to snap at Jasmine, turned on Liam. "What's so funny? Never seen a good-looking guy before?"

"Nope," Liam said, nodding seriously.

Tom balled his fists. Ever since they were kids, when he couldn't win an argument with Liam, he'd go for a fight.

Liam took a deep breath. "Tom just trashed Mr. Cunningham, said he looks like a stick and..."

Before Liam could finish, Tom, looking horrified, clamped a hand over Liam's mouth and glanced at Ethan in panic. "It's nothing. Forget it."

Ethan glared at Tom and got in the car with Jasmine.

"I heard Howard's making some crazy demands?" Jasmine asked, worried, once they were in the car.

Ethan just smiled and drove off.

Outside, Jasmine glanced back but couldn't see Tom and Liam anymore. The two were wrestling on the lawn, not really fighting.

In the car, Ethan noticed in the rearview mirror that someone was tailing them.

That car had been on their tail since they arrived, following them everywhere.

"Don't sweat it. Howard's just mad about that bad deal he signed. He wants out, but it's too late. The Douglas Group's already fed up with him," Ethan reassured Jasmine.

Jasmine shook her head. "I'm worried about Brandon. He'd kick you out of the Raymond Group for a buck. He's all about the money. We gotta be careful and not rely on him."

Ethan coughed and nodded. "Got it."

He drove Jasmine to a restaurant and held her hand as they got out.

"Why the sudden craving for cupcakes and desserts? You don't usually go for sweets," Jasmine asked, curious. Ethan wasn't much of a sweet tooth. "What's the occasion?"

"Every day with you is a celebration," Ethan said, all serious.

Jasmine found it a bit funny. "Okay."

At their reserved table, Jasmine looked at the appetizer ice cream and exclaimed, "I know this one. It's really good. Had it before."

She stopped mid-sentence.

Daniel had brought her here before.

She covered her mouth, lowered her head, and quietly ate her ice cream.

"Forget the past. From now on, when you think of this ice cream, think of me," Ethan said, handing her a napkin.

Jasmine nodded, took a bite of the ice cream, and felt something hard against her teeth. She took it out and found a diamond ring.

"Oh..." Did they mess up?

Ethan smiled, thinking he was being romantic. "Surprise!"

Jasmine didn't want to hurt Ethan's feelings. Where did he learn this proposal method? "Don't we already have rings?"

"Can you ever have too many rings?" Ethan said, dead serious. "I'm all in for giving you more."

Jasmine giggled and nodded. "I love it."

Ethan leaned in and whispered, "Think a couple of rings can really tie you down?"

Jasmine blinked, confused. "What did you say?"

Ethan just scribbled on a napkin: [Nothing.]

Jasmine was puzzled. What was up with Ethan today?

"Is your throat bothering you?" Jasmine asked, eyeing the note Ethan slid over.

Why was he writing instead of talking?

Ethan wrote back, almost childishly: [Just feel like writing, not talking.]

Jasmine, still baffled, wrote: [Thanks for the ring and ice cream.]

Ethan kept writing: [Got plans this weekend? Let's take the kids to the amusement park.]

Joe and Justin had been bugging Ethan about when they'd go out again.

With all the drama with Howard, both he and Jasmine had been swamped, kinda neglecting the kids.

So, despite the chaos, he needed to take Jasmine and the kids out for some fun.

Jasmine wrote back: [Sure, I can make it work.]

The whole meal left Jasmine feeling bewildered. Except for talking to the waiter, Ethan communicated with her entirely through writing.

Jasmine had no clue what Ethan was up to.

It wasn't until they got back to the car that Jasmine found a small notebook in the center console. It was filled with notes she and Daniel had passed in class back in the day.

Feeling guilty, Jasmine coughed and hid the notebook, nervously looking at Ethan as he got into the car. "Ethan."

"Hmm?" Ethan glanced in the rearview mirror and saw that the car was still tailing them.

It had been on their tail all day. He wondered how long it would keep up.

"About me and Daniel, it's ancient history. Back then, I didn't really get what love was. If I had met you first, I would've definitely loved you," Jasmine said cautiously, trying to smooth things over.

It seemed all of Ethan's weird behavior made sense now. He was still holding onto some jealousy.

Jasmine felt she was in for a rough night.

"That's a given," Ethan said confidently, raising an eyebrow. "But I'm still jealous. How are you gonna make it up to me?"

Jasmine stammered, "How about I do the housework this week?"

"Nope," Ethan shot down the offer.

"Then maybe..." Before Jasmine could finish, Ethan suddenly floored it.

Ethan wanted to see how long the car behind them would follow, but he didn't want to freak Jasmine out, so he kept quiet.

But the sudden move did scare Jasmine.

She clutched her seatbelt and swallowed. "Ethan, my period just started."

Ethan, catching her drift, laughed. "So you were planning to comfort me that way?"

Jasmine blushed. "No, I wasn't."

Ethan suddenly braked, causing the car behind them to rear-end them.

Ethan frowned and cursed. "Damn it."

"Huh?" Jasmine looked at Ethan in surprise.

'Did he just curse at me?'

Realizing his mistake, Ethan pulled over and quickly reassured her. "Babe, I wasn't cursing at you. The car behind us just hit us. Stay put, I'll handle it."

Ethan got out and locked the car door, eyeing the people in the car behind them.
