Chapter 857 Saul Forced Edward with Money

Electra was so angry with Hestia that she was having trouble breathing.

Edward quickly spoke up. "Mrs. Sharp, you and Hestia have a good talk. I'll go ask the doctor about your condition."

"Stop right there!" Electra's anger was now directed at Edward. "All these years, I've worked so hard to raise her, and now she treats me like this. Tell me,Should you compensate me? It's not that I won't give you a wedding gift, I just want to see your family's attitude. I'm afraid she'll be mistreated in your family. Am I wrong?"

Edward felt awkward. Was this a trick question? "Well... Mrs. Sharp, I think I should give this money to you. According to each family's situation, giving a promise to the other party also provides a sense of security to the wife before marriage. It proves my sincerity in wanting to build a new family with her. This is also a commitment from me and a sign of respect to you."

Edward was as eager as a student answering a teacher's question.

Electra's expression softened a lot. She seemed quite satisfied with Edward's answer.

Hestia grabbed Edward's hand. "You should go back. I'll take care of my mom here."

Edward nodded, giving Hestia and her mother some space. "Mrs. Sharp, please rest well. It was wrong of us not to inform you about getting the marriage license earlier. You and Hestia have a good talk. I'll choose a suitable day for my mother to come and discuss the wedding and other matters with you."

Edward thought this would show respect to Hestia and Electra.

"Is it just your mother in your family?" Electra asked cautiously.

Single mothers were great, but they were also sensitive. They lacked a sense of security, so they turned their love into chains, binding their children.

"Yes, my dad has another family outside. My mom raised us alone. My sister went missing when she was very young, and my mom got depressed because of it. But now my sister has been found." Edward nodded.

Electra felt sorry for Edward and thought he was a responsible child. "Your mom has had a hard time too."

"My sister got married and has three kids now. With the children around, my mom's condition has stabilized." Taking care of the kids indeed kept Cordelia too busy to be depressed.

Plus, the kids were very healing and gradually mend Cordelia's soul.

"Has Hestia met your mom?" Electra asked.

"We planned to meet the parents once our relationship was more stable," Hestia answered for Edward.

"When I get out of the hospital, let's find a chance for both families to meet." Electra said softly.

Hestia nervously gripped Edward's wrist.

"I admit, from childhood to adulthood, I wanted you to excel and make me proud. But more than that, I wanted you to be happy. Growing up without a father made me want to show everyone that even without a husband, I could live well and raise my daughter well. My daughter could be the best even without a father."

"I didn't realize these things put so much pressure on you, even making you rebellious."

Electra spoke softly. She just wanted everyone to respect them, not to drive her daughter crazy or force her to marry just anyone.

"Marriage is not a game. I experienced an incomplete marriage. After your father's death, I became extremely sensitive and insecure. I wanted give you happiness. I selfishly didn't want you to leave me, so I pretended to be sick to make you come back to Boston."

She didn't expect Hestia to get married in Silverlight City.

Electra lowered her head. Saying these things in front of the unfamiliar Edward was a form of acknowledgment.

"No matter what happens in the future, I will always be your fallback and support." Electra looked up at Hestia. "You both go back. My leg is fine. I'll be discharged tomorrow."

Hestia lowered her head, tears streaming down her face.

She knew her mother had a hard time. But she was tired of the high-pressure environment.

"Let Hestia stay with you. I'll come to pick you up tomorrow morning." Edward patted Hestia's shoulder, knowing she wouldn't leave tonight.

He was willing to give them some time alone.

As he left the ward, Edward was stopped.

It was Saul. He hadn't left.

"Let's talk," Saul said politely to Edward.

Edward looked at Saul and spoke calmly. "There's nothing to talk about between us."

"Hestia is a very simple person. Once she loves someone, she won't easily change. She's with you just to stop her mother from introducing her to other people. I think you married her in such a short time not for love. So, are there other conditions that would make you give up my lover?" Saul's words were provocative.

He seemed to think his wealth and other abilities could make Edward give up Hestia.

Edward turned to look at Saul and sneered. "What can you give me to make me give up my wife?"

Saul was pleased with Edward's question and proudly said, "Whatever you want, money or connections, as long as you ask, I can do my best to satisfy you."

Edward found Saul ridiculous. No one had ever tried to humiliate him with money.

"How about a hundred million dollars?" Edward half-jokingly said.

"Be realistic," Saul frowned.

"Just a hundred million dollars, and you think it's unrealistic? Pathetic." Edward laughed mockingly and turned to leave.

Saul's face darkened. He didn't like Edward at all.

He didn't believe Edward had no desire for money.

Muskow.

Fiona was cleaning the house she had rented in advance.

The room was actually very tidy. She just needed to disinfect it again.

She never had the habit of disinfecting until she was with Ryan...

Holding the disinfectant, Fiona was silent for a long time.

It turned out that after being together for a long time, some habits became ingrained.

Looking down at her belly, Fiona felt upset.

She had been here for almost a week, staying in a hotel. Even though she hired a cleaner, she still wasn't satisfied and sprayed disinfectant herself.

But inexplicably, she kept thinking of Ryan.

It turned out that being alone really made her feel lonely.

"Fiona, call me if you need anything." Her assistant had come with her. Fiona paid her to take care of her and keep her company until she gave birth.

But as her belly grew, Fiona's sense of security diminished.

She was always afraid something would happen to the baby. Every time she woke up from a nightmare, she would call out Ryan's name.

Sitting blankly on the sofa, Fiona rubbed her temples.

This couldn't go on.

She didn't want to get married or continue entangling with Ryan and wasting his time.

But without Ryan, she pathetically missed him.

"Hi, hello." At this moment, someone walked into the yard.

Fiona frowned and looked at the person warily.

In Muskow, the yard was considered private territory, and it was rare for someone to just walk in.

But the man outside didn't look like a good person.
