Chapter 492 Ethan Refuses to Forgive Evan

Jasmine walked over, set the dessert on the table, and smiled, "Deborah, want some?"

Deborah was surprised. Jasmine had always been cold to her. Why did she suddenly change?

Something felt off.

Seeing Deborah stay quiet, Jasmine added, "Sis, I got you a latte."

Deborah frowned but quickly smiled. "I'm dieting, so I'll skip it."

"But," Deborah glanced at the cake, "Ethan's lactose intolerant. This will upset his stomach."

Ethan picked up the cake and said, "That was years ago. I'm fine now."

Deborah laughed, "You're so stubborn."

She then turned and walked away.

Jasmine knew Deborah did it on purpose to make her uncomfortable and show she knew Ethan better.

Deborah was good at keeping a subtle distance, not annoying but still ambiguous.

After Deborah left, Jasmine grabbed the cake from Ethan, annoyed. "You shouldn't eat it. I'll have it."

Ethan quickly reassured her, "I really am lactose tolerant."

Jasmine stayed silent, eating the cake.

Ethan chuckled; his wife was too cute.

Jasmine took a bite and looked at Ethan. "I want to start working."

Ethan raised an eyebrow, "Already?"

"Yes." Jasmine felt uneasy seeing Deborah and Ethan together.

She had never felt this jealous before. It was uncomfortable.

"Alright, start tomorrow?" Ethan asked.

"Okay, I'll come with Samuel. The project department only has Deborah's team. If we get an entry-level project, we want to apply for Group B."

Jasmine was openly challenging Deborah.

"Sure." Ethan nodded with a smile.

He ruffled Jasmine's hair. Despite her gentle nature, her decisions eased his workload.

This way, Ethan wouldn't be overwhelmed with work while also having to navigate Deborah's influence.

Jasmine thought for a moment and then softly said, "If Deborah genuinely wants to help, I won't be harsh. But if she uses her influence to harm the company, I won't go easy on her."

Jasmine's soft voice carried a threat.

Ethan wanted to laugh. "You need more bite. Learn from Betty."

Raymond and Betty's teamwork had left Brade's projects in chaos. Brade was likely overwhelmed by Betty's attacks and might do something drastic.

"She's been busy lately," Jasmine said.

"Yes, very busy." Ethan thought and decided to tell Jasmine, "Sophia came to see Richard."

"What?" Jasmine was surprised, "Sophia?"

"Sophia might be Richard's biological mother." Ethan sighed. "She left Richard with May and went to Muskow to marry a wealthy man."

But unexpectedly, Willian, the rich guy, refused to divorce.

Sophia's tactics couldn't match Cordelia's.

Cordelia had a tragic life, but Sophia didn't gain much either.

"So, she ditched her son to marry rich. Why recognize him now? She should be trying to please Willian and secure more shares for her daughter." Jasmine wondered. "Recognizing Richard now only hurts her."

"Maybe Richard's biological father is more valuable to her," Ethan guessed.

"What?" Jasmine was puzzled.

"It's just a guess. Let's see what Sophia's up to. Ignoring the Cunningham shares for Richard means he's worth more," Ethan said seriously.

Sophia already had a daughter in the Cunningham family as leverage. Focusing on Richard wasn't about emotions.

"Richard's had it rough, with a mother like that. May isn't a good mother, either," Jasmine said softly. "When I got kicked out of the Wilson family, May treated me horribly. I even doubted I was her daughter but had no proof. She also treated Richard badly, saving his money to buy luxury goods for Serena."

She was shocked at the time.

Richard never felt motherly or fatherly love.

In the end, he was still exploited by his so-called biological mother.

"Richard has his own path," Ethan said, feeling for Richard but knowing it was his journey.

"There's something else," Jasmine hesitated. "Evan and Karen have cut ties with the Wilson family. His leg injury got worse without treatment and might leave him disabled."

Ethan's face darkened. "He deserves it."

He gently caressed Jasmine's face, brushing over the spot where she once had a cigarette burn. Thanks to his efforts, the scar had faded.

Because of that scar, Ethan's desire to deal with Evan never waned.

"You want to see him? I don't agree," Ethan frowned, strongly opposed.

He might compromise on others, but Evan and Daniel were dealbreakers. Ethan wouldn't stand for it.

Jasmine said nothing, raising her hand to offer Ethan some cake.

Ethan pulled her onto his lap. "You mustn't forgive him."

Jasmine thought for a moment, then nodded.

After a long silence, she finally spoke, "Evan used to treat me very well."

Evan had almost spoiled her to the point where she couldn't breathe without him.

"Once, to show me snow, he chartered a plane to a distant place. From the moment we got off, the sky was filled with snowflakes." Jasmine once thought she was the happiest sister in the world.

She had the best brother.

But in prison, Jasmine spent five years struggling to understand why people could change so much.
