Chapter 924 Vincent Likes to Reap the Benefits

Vincent had just stepped out of his car when he saw Lily sitting alone on his doorstep.

Frowning slightly, Vincent walked over. "Lily, what are you doing here?"

Lily looked up, and when she saw Vincent, she jumped to her feet and ran over to hug him tightly. "I heard you were in trouble. Are you hurt? Are you okay?"

Vincent gently stepped back and shook his head. "I'm fine."

Lily let out a sigh of relief, though her eyes were still red, showing she'd been crying for a while. "You scared me to death."

"I'm fine, but the Murray family might be in trouble," Vincent said quietly.

Lily was taken aback. "You mean... you think the Murray family is involved? But Rhett..."

That couldn't be right.

Vincent snorted. "I had a fight with Rhett today, and he immediately canceled our partnership. A guy like him is capable of anything!"

Vincent knew the person who tried to kill him tonight wasn't from the Murray family or Rhett's people, but Rhett was unlucky enough to take the blame. If he didn't, who would?

Lily frowned, clenching her fists. "That lunatic..."

"Lily, we need to start planning for ourselves. If we don't get rid of Rhett, even if we secure the project, he won't let us off easily," Vincent said in a low voice.

Lily nodded. "With Rhett's vengeful nature, that's true."

"Vincent, you should rest. Leave this matter to me," Lily said with determination.

Rhett wanted to ruin Vincent to control her? Did he really think she was the kind of woman who could be easily manipulated?

"Be careful. Let me know if anything happens," Vincent said, ruffling Lily's hair.

Lily blushed slightly and hugged Vincent. "Of course."

Vincent raised an eyebrow and smiled. With Lily and Rhett targeting each other, he could take a break.

"Um..." A voice came from behind them. Selene, looking nervous, raised her hand. "Mr. Hamilton, I'm still here. Could you two be a bit more mindful..."

Vincent's face darkened, almost forgetting about the extra baggage.

He shot a cold glance at Selene, making his threat clear.

Selene quickly corrected herself. "Mr. Hamilton, where should I go to hide out?"

Lily was also taken aback, looking at Selene. "Who is she?"

"A new chef. I heard she's pretty good," Vincent said nonchalantly.

"Is this Mrs. Hamilton?" Selene asked with a humble smile, her deference evident.

Lily looked up at Vincent, seeking his acknowledgment.

"Yes, she's my girlfriend and the future mistress of this house," Vincent said in a deep voice.

Lily smiled and blushed, lowering her head.

So her heart could still be moved by someone.

"Vincent, I'll stay here. That way, I can take care of you," Lily suggested, seizing the opportunity to move into the villa.

Vincent took a deep breath and smiled. "Sure, but it might be inconvenient. I guess the Powell family is still keeping a close eye on you. It's not just the Murray family; the Powell family also doesn't want you to marry me."

Because if Lily married Vincent, it would mean bringing the Powell family's shares with her, making her harder to control.

Lily frowned. Those damn people.

Indeed, if she wanted to be with Vincent, she had to get rid of the Powell family first.

"Vincent, wait for me," Lily said, hugging Vincent. "I know you want to live together, and I do too... I want us to have a happy life together, but there are too many despicable people trying to stop us. I need to deal with them first."

"If you need my help, just say the word," Vincent said with a smile.

Vincent knew he could use Lily to deal with both the Powell family and the Murray family. He just needed to step in when she was struggling. Vincent was a master at reaping the benefits without getting his hands dirty.

After seeing Lily off, Vincent turned around and noticed Selene hiding in the corner.

Selene kept her head down, trailing behind Vincent.

Vincent stopped abruptly, and Selene bumped right into him.

Her head was pretty hard, making Vincent wince in pain.

"You'll stay in the maid's quarters and have breakfast ready by eleven every morning," Vincent said in a deep voice.

Selene thought she misheard. "Eleven in the morning, breakfast?"

Was he serious?

"Who eats breakfast at eleven?" Selene muttered under her breath.

"I'm a light sleeper. I won't be up before eleven. Don't disturb me, or you'll be in big trouble."

Vincent was someone who never ate breakfast or woke up early. Since taking over the Douglas Group, he had successfully run it into the ground.

Vincent's life motto was to do whatever made him comfortable, regardless of others.

Selene swallowed hard and nodded, texting Liam: [Due to your irresponsibility, I have to take a month off to be Vincent's chef.]

Liam quickly replied: [You're doing great. You've infiltrated the inner circle. Prepare for the next step. We're in this together.]

Liam's next step was for her to gather dirt on Vincent once she was inside, to use as leverage in future conflicts over resources and projects.

At the Raymond Group, employees gathered for lunch, gossiping in hushed tones.

"Did you hear? Mr. Russell got married."

"How come we've never seen Mr. Russell's wife at the office? Is he that trusting?"

"I saw Mr. Russell wearing a wedding ring."

A few employees were gossiping about Brandon.

Bradley, who insisted on eating in the employee cafeteria, was among them.

Bradley sipped his oatmeal, being doted on by his female colleagues.

"Bradley, have some more. Here, take this."

"And this too."

Bradley looked at his tray, overwhelmed by their enthusiasm. His colleagues had given him all their apples and bananas.

"Thank you," Bradley said quietly, feeling guilty. He feared that if his colleagues found out about his relationship with Brandon, they would turn on him.

So Bradley lived cautiously every day, forbidding Brandon from any public displays of affection, warning him not to hold hands or get too close.

Brandon was very resentful.

He thought bringing his spouse to work would be safe, but the office was full of people who liked him.

"Mr. Russell!" Several female colleagues were shocked to see Brandon with a tray. "Mr. Russell, why are you eating here?"

This was the regular employee cafeteria; Brandon's dining area was on the top floor.

"Just checking in to see if the company is treating everyone well," Brandon said with a smile.

Instantly, the employees were in awe. "Mr. Russell, you're the best boss ever."

"See, I'm way better than Ethan," Brandon boasted, sounding like he was planning a coup.

The employees were too scared to speak, thinking the two bosses were secretly at odds.

Brandon glanced at Bradley and raised an eyebrow. "How's the food?"

Bradley kept his head down and spoke softly. "It's fine."

"What do you want for dinner tonight?"

With that, everyone turned to look.

Bradley, startled, glared at Brandon. He was doing this on purpose.

Sharp-eyed employees noticed that Brandon's ring matched Bradley's exactly.
