Chapter 447 Evan's Regret Was Useless

Jasmine watched Evan leave without saying a word.

Richard frowned and cursed, "He must be insane."

In Richard's eyes, Evan was indeed insane.

He had hurt Jasmine without hesitation back then, and now he pretended to be regretful.

There was no medicine for regret in this world. If apologies were useful, the harm would never have existed.

Jasmine said nothing, holding Casey and Joe's hands as they entered the elevator.

Justin followed Richard and got into the elevator.

"Mom, who was that person?" Joe didn't know Evan, so he asked.

Jasmine remained silent for a long time before speaking, "He is Uncle Evan."

"Mom, do you not like him?" Joe asked curiously.

Jasmine smiled slightly, "He made a mistake, and Mom cannot forgive him."

"Okay," Joe nodded. "Mom, then I won't forgive him either."

Jasmine ruffled Joe's hair, "It's okay."

Justin kept his head down and only looked up at Jasmine after they exited the elevator. "Mom, he won't hit me anymore, right?"

Jasmine knelt in front of Justin, her eyes red as she hugged him. "No, never again. Because Justin has dad, Uncle Richard, and three uncles from the Cunningham family. So many people to protect you, you'll never be hit again."

Justin hugged Jasmine, "So do you, Mom. No one will ever hit us again."

After being discharged from the hospital, Karen went straight back to the Wilson family.

Having been with Benjamin for so many years, she couldn't just easily give everything up to Benjamin and Tessa.

"What are you doing here?" Karen asked as soon as she entered the living room and saw Benjamin openly playing with his illegitimate child and his mistress, Tessa.

Tessa quickly lowered her head in fear as she saw Karen.

Benjamin snorted, "You still have the nerve to come back."

"This is my home. Half of everything you have is mine. I should come back," Karen said as she sat on the sofa. "You have the nerve to bring your mistress back, so how dare you question me?"

Benjamin's face darkened, "Don't force me to say something unpleasant. Evan is not my son. You want my shares? Impossible."

"What about our daughter? She is yours," Karen said coldly. "Find our daughter, and I won't interfere with whatever you do afterward."

Benjamin looked at Karen suspiciously for she was being so agreeable. "Our daughter has been missing for so many years, and May Murphy is dead. Where would I find her?"

"In any case, find our daughter, and I won't meddle in your affairs," Karen offered an olive branch once more.

The entanglement between Karen and Benjamin was more than a simple marriage.

Divorce was a complicated matter for them.

Karen pretending not to know was already the biggest concession.

Even though Tessa was unwilling to be just a mistress for life, she had to agree.

The Wilson family had been supported by the Olivia family back in the day, so Karen had the right to act crazy at home.

"I've already got people looking for our daughter," Benjamin said in a deep voice.

Karen said nothing. She got up and headed to her room. Halfway there, she turned back to warn Benjamin and Tessa, "I sleep very lightly and can't stand disturbances. Keep your child in check and don't let him bother me."

Tessa nodded with red-rimmed eyes.

After Karen left, Tessa leaned into Benjamin's arms and cried, "Aren't you going to divorce her?"

"Don't cry. Divorce is difficult, but widowhood is possible," Benjamin said with a deep meaning.

Tessa froze for a moment, looking at Benjamin.

But Benjamin said nothing more.

In her room, Karen closed the door, her face darkening.

Divorce was impossible, but she could become a widow. Once their daughter was found, Benjamin's death would be justified.

She wanted her daughter to inherit everything from the Wilson family.

She would never let Tessa and her son gain any benefit from Benjamin.

"You are too green to compete with me," Karen muttered with a cold smile.

Once her daughter was found, Benjamin's life or death would no longer concern her. At that time, if Benjamin died, everything in the Wilson family would belong to her and her daughter.

As for everything from the Everhart family, it would all belong to Evan.

Karen felt quite pleased, for in this way, she would be the ultimate winner.

However, Evan was somewhat ungrateful.

The Everhart family was wealthy and had no children to inherit. Instead of maintaining a good father-son relationship with Alex, Evan resisted at every turn. He was truly ungrateful.

Karen took out her phone and called Evan.

Evan did not answer.

Karen was a bit angry and decided to call Alex instead.

She thought Alex would quickly answer her call, but he did not. Not only did he not answer, but he also directly hung up on her.

This gave Karen a severe sense of crisis.

She could not afford to lose her connection with Alex.

To completely secure everything from Alex, she had to find a way to make him divorce Evelina.

She had heard that Evelina had already consulted a lawyer to draft a divorce agreement, but Alex had been stalling.

She needed to find a way to make them divorce quickly.

At Cordelia's Residence.

Evelina looked at Alex, who was still standing at the door late at night, and sneered, "It's unnecessary. Go back. Find some time to sign the divorce papers."

Alex's eyes were red, clearly in pain. "Evelina, I really know I was wrong."

"You did nothing wrong," Evelina said flatly. "Neither of us did. We just have different stances."

Alex's face turned pale as he looked at Evelina nervously. "Evelina, I care about you a lot, and I love you."

"I don't deny that you care about me, nor do I deny that you love me. But your love is shared with too many people, not exclusively mine, so it's too cheap. I don't want it anymore," Evelina said as she looked at Alex. "All our years together can't withstand a single moment of heartbreak."

Alex's eyes reddened. "I admit I had selfish motives in coming back to see Evan, but my love for you has never changed."

He always felt that his sins were not so severe.

"It's my unilateral decision not to continue living with you. I'm sorry," Evelina said, leaving without giving Alex any further explanation.

Alex stood outside for a long time. Until now, he hadn't believed that Evelina wanted to divorce him.

He always thought Evelina might be doing this to punish him, and as long as he showed a good attitude in admitting his mistakes, Evelina would eventually forgive him.

But now it seemed Evelina had really decided to divorce him.

At that moment, Alex completely panicked.

He couldn't bear the thought of their many years of relationship ending just like that. But he knew Evelina well; once she made a decision, it was hard to change.

"By the way, did Karen tell you that we sued her for falsely accusing Jasmine and getting her imprisoned?" Evelina stopped a few steps away and looked back at Alex.

"Evelina, I—I haven't been answering her calls. I—" Alex hurried to explain.

Just then, Karen called again.

Alex felt frustrated so he wanted to block her number.

Evelina narrowed her eyes and said in a deep voice, "Answer it. What are you afraid of?"

Alex looked at Evelina innocently.

"Answer it," Evelina said coldly.

She wanted to know what else Karen was capable of.
