Chapter 769 Casey Became an Unwanted Child Again

Around midnight, a man wearing a baseball cap walked into the alley and stood next to Lisa. "Are you Lisa?"

Lisa looked at him warily. "Did Mark send you?"

The man gave Lisa a once-over. "Come with me."

Lisa took a deep breath and nervously followed the man.

His van was parked at the end of the alley. After Lisa got in, her body was still trembling slightly.

She was cooperating with the police to find Mark, and her necklace had a tracker in it, in case she was discovered.

Lisa glanced nervously out the window.

As the van drove away, she saw Raymond anxiously searching for her.

When Raymond woke up, Lisa was already gone.

After getting his phone, he received a call from Jasmine, and then he panicked, using almost all his connections in Silverlight City to find Lisa.

He couldn't let Lisa go after Mark, it was too dangerous!

If Lisa did, she would die.

Raymond stood there regretfully, searching everywhere for Lisa, but the alley was empty.

He kept calling Lisa, but there was no answer.

Ethan's Place.

Jasmine watched Casey playing in the living room, pacing back and forth anxiously.

"Still no sign of Lisa?" Jasmine called Ben, asking nervously.

Richard had also suddenly become unreachable, it was said he had gone abroad with Steven.

Jasmine was already worried about Richard, and now Lisa was missing too.

"No, and there's no record of her leaving the country," Ben explained quietly. "I'm still having people look for her. The Long family has also used almost all their connections, but we haven't found her."

More than twenty-four hours had passed, which meant Lisa was likely already out of Silverlight City.

Without any record of her leaving the country, she might have smuggled herself out just like Mark..

Jasmine knew very well that Lisa might have gone to find Mark.

Ethan had just finished dealing with Tom's parents' affairs in Silvershore and was on his way back.

Jasmine was also praying for Ethan and the others to land safely.

She had asked Connor, who said Tom was deeply traumatized and was still in a daze.

Tom had never been very smart, but his family was so joyful that he couldn't adapt to the loss of his parents.

At midnight, Ethan finally returned, along with Connor and Tom.

Tom was dressed in black, looking like a soulless shell.

Jasmine opened the door, looking at Tom nervously. "Tom."

Tom didn't speak, keeping his head down, standing at Connor's door.

Connor shook his head at Jasmine and opened the door for Tom.

Given Tom's bad mood, Connor had been indulging him these past few days.

"Let him take his time to recover," Ethan said, hugging Jasmine and signaling Connor to take care of Tom.

Connor nodded and closed the door behind him.

Jasmine took a deep breath. "Tom was like a child who never grew up, but now, it seems like he's grown up overnight."

"He has to take over the family business; he has to grow up." Ethan sighed.

Many people grow up overnight.

Back then, Ethan also seemed to grow up overnight after his mother passed away.

"Something's happened," Jasmine said, nervously holding Ethan's hand. "As long as Mark is alive, he's a threat to us. Lisa entrusted Casey to us."

Ethan was stunned for a moment, instinctively looking towards the children's room.

Jasmine made a shushing gesture. "The kids are asleep. Lisa is missing, and I'm worried she went to find Mark."

Ethan frowned, rubbing his temples. "Is she crazy?"

"She said she wanted to trade herself for a bright future for Casey. She wanted us to raise Casey," Jasmine said, handing Ethan the things Lisa had left behind, including the shares in the Taylor family and some assets.

Ethan's face darkened, but he said nothing. "Take it easy. I'll contact Raymond and bring her back as soon as possible."

Ethan couldn't just leave Lisa alone.

Even for Casey's sake, Ethan couldn't let Casey grow up without a mother.

Casey leaned against the door, sitting on the floor, silently wiping away tears.

Joe was asleep, and he was crying alone.

In fact, he understood everything.

Ever since his parents divorced, he knew he was a burden.

But he prayed he could stay with Lisa because his dad didn't like him.

But now, his mom was gone too.

Casey actually understood everything. Before Lisa left, she held him and cried all night.

Lisa kept saying, "I am sorry, Casey. Mommy shouldn't have brought you into this world in that way."

Lisa cried her heart out. "If I had another chance, I wouldn't let you come into this world to suffer with me."

Casey curled up his legs, hugging himself helplessly.

Why was he different from other kids from birth? He didn't have a dad to love and protect him, nor a mom who liked him. Most of the time, he was with the nanny.

Finally, his mom liked him, but now she was gone.

"Want some candy? My mom says eating candy helps when you're sad," Justin walked over barefoot, holding a piece of candy in his hand.

Casey looked up at Justin, his eyes even redder. "Justin, they all don't want me."

Justin sat next to Casey, hugging him like an adult and comforting him softly. "I want you, and my mom and dad want you too. This is your home."

Casey cried even harder.

Justin continued to comfort him. "That's great. We can live together forever."

Casey bit down hard on Justin's hand.

Justin wanted to cry from the pain, but he knew this was Casey's unique way of asserting his claim, like a puppy marking its territory.

"Justin, you can't leave me." Casey cried, gasping for breath. He couldn't lose Justin too.

If Justin abandoned him in the future, he didn't know what he would do.

It felt like the whole world had forgotten him.

"I won't," Justin comforted gently.

"Why are you afraid of being abandoned? You will grow up, you will become an adult. As long as you don't abandon yourself, you will always be you," Joe said, no longer pretending to be asleep, sitting up and scolding Casey.

Joe and Justin had completely different personalities. Justin was a warm-hearted person, more concerned about others' feelings because he grew up with his uncle.

Joe cared more about the strength of growing up alone.
