Chapter 462 Cordelia Robs Arnold's House

Before leaving, Cordelia took a guava from the fruit platter brought by the nanny. It was a crisp and sweet red-heart guava, one of her favorite fruits.

Not many people knew she loved guavas. When she was pregnant with Jasmine, she had a craving for them, but it wasn't guava season, and it was hard to find them in the Country M.

It was Arnold—no, back then he was still Guadalupe—who went out in the middle of the night and found for a long time before getting it at a 24-hour imported fruit supermarket.

He didn't say a word to others. He just had the nanny wash them and brought them to her the next day.

In truth, women weren't foolish; sometimes, the smallest details were the most memorable.

Arnold noticed that Cordelia took a guava and smiled helplessly. "Since you're here, don't leave empty-handed. Take them all; I bought them for you anyway."

Cordelia thought it made sense. "How did you know I was coming?"

"I had a hunch," Arnold said, touching the tip of his nose with a smile.

His hunch had proven to be correct.

As soon as the news of his collaboration with the Douglas Group got out, Cordelia was bound to come looking for him.

So he had the servants prepare in advance.

"Alright, I'll take them. You don't like them anyway, so keeping them would be a waste." Cordelia walked into the kitchen and asked the nanny for a bag. "Pack all of these for me. It's a waste if he eats them."

In the end, Cordelia took all the fruit from Arnold's house. But Arnold felt extremely good about it.

At least, Cordelia was no longer wary and resistant to him.

"Take it slow on your way back. Sophia may not be smart, but she's definitely ruthless," Arnold reminded Cordelia.

When it came to intelligence, Sophia was no match for Cordelia.

Her greatest advantage and cleverness were only used on Willian.

In other words, Sophia was lucky to have met a man who was even more foolish than her—Willian.

Now that she had kicked Willian to the curb, she was looking for another fool. She had been with Willian for so long that she thought everyone was a fool.

"She's quite ruthless; I've experienced it," Cordelia said as she got into the car, looking at Arnold. "She said she had your kid?"

"Yes." Arnold nodded, not avoiding the topic. "I don't know if it's true."

"Just pressure her a bit, and the truth will come out. Don't forget to inform me then; I'll bring Willian to watch the show," Cordelia said with a smirk.

Willian always thought Sophia was a virgin who had suffered greatly with him, without a name or status, and he felt guilty for her all his life.

If he found out that Sophia had been married before and might have had a child, he might have a heart attack on the spot.

"Alright." Arnold nodded. He was a bit unhappy as Cordelia mentioned Willian.

Indeed, Cordelia wanted to strike Willian at the heart, to let him see Sophia's true colors, to cut off his thoughts, and to sever Sophia's escape route.

"Now, Sophia is trying to have it both ways- she wants you but doesn't want to let go of William. She won't let go of Willian until she's sure you'll be with her. I think you should give her some hope."

Arnold snorted, a bit displeased.

Cordelia ignored him and had the driver start the car and leave.

After she left, Arnold spoke to the person beside him. "Investigate Sophia thoroughly and have someone keep an eye on her."

At Stanford University.

Jasmine returned to her dorm, which was still empty; Amelia hadn't come back.

Jasmine couldn't reach Amelia; they hadn't had a chance to exchange contact information that day.

Worried that something might have happened to Amelia, Jasmine called Nolan.

"Hello?" Nolan, Jasmine's protective brother, answered her call immediately.

"Nolan, let me rely on you." a sweet, almost drunken voice came from the other end of the line.

Jasmine raised her hand to rub her forehead. What had she just heard?

Nolan sounded a bit flustered. "Um..."

"Nolan, it's nothing. I just called to check in." Jasmine quickly hung up the phone.

Was that Amelia on the phone just now?

Amelia was with Nolan.

The age difference between them seemed quite significant.

Jasmine rushed into the bathroom to wash up, convincing herself she must have misheard.

Her phone rang.

Jasmine thought it was Ethan, but to her surprise, it was Connor.

"Are you asleep? Come out and meet me," Connor suddenly requested.

Jasmine frowned. "The dorm is about to close; I can't go out."

"The dorm closes at ten, and it's only eight now. We have two hours to meet; it's up to you," Connor said calmly. "But I'm not asking for your opinion."

Jasmine gripped her phone tightly. "Fine, where should we meet?"

"At the entrance of the coffee shop outside your school. I'll pick you up," Connor said coolly.

"Alright," Jasmine agreed, putting on her coat and heading out.

Jasmine exited through a side door in the back wall of the schoolyard, a shortcut she used to take during her school days.

Beyond the side door was a long, dark alley, somewhat frightening.

Jasmine was scared, but taking this route meant she wouldn't be noticed.

Her relationship with Connor couldn't be exposed for now; otherwise, her illness would also be exposed, causing further harm to both Ethan and herself.

Suddenly, Jasmine tripped over something on the ground.

She screamed in terror, her face turning pale.

A person lay on the ground, bleeding.

Jasmine, trembling, tried to call the police, but the person grabbed her ankle. "Don't call the police."

"Then I'll call an ambulance," Jasmine said in a panic.

The person struggled to sit up, leaning against the wall, and said harshly, "Mind your own business and get lost."

Jasmine found the person quite fierce and strange. Fearing he might die there, she messaged Lily: [There's someone dying on the street.]

Lily replied: [Should I call 911?]

Jasmine replied: [He won't let me, but I need to leave.]

Lily replied: [Alright, I'm nearby. I'll be there soon.]

Lily arrived quickly. Jasmine pointed to the unconscious man. "Forget it, just call 911."

She nodded. "I'll handle it. Go ahead."

After Jasmine left, Lily approached the man and took a look.

Her face darkened, and her expression froze.

Her fingers trembled as she quickly stepped back.

A voice inside her told her not to save him, to let him die.

She hoped him would die here.

Lily would never forget this man. He was someone even the wealthy who had violated her had to kneel and curry favor with.

He was also the one who, with a single word, had pushed her into the abyss.

The so-called heir of a conglomerate from Country H.

Leaning against the wall, Lily's fingers dug into the wall until her fingertips bled.

She still remembered that night when she was forced to drink drugged wine and thrown into a wild party. A jerk had offered her to the man in front her as if she were an animal.

Lily knew that with just one word, he could have saved her from hell.

She had knelt before him, crying and begging for his help.

Even if it was just him alone.

But he had looked down at her coldly and said, "You're dirty."
