Chapter 713 Ethan Will Always Be Jasmine's Support
"Ethan, under your management, the company is on the brink of bankruptcy. Are you sure you still have the right to say I'm not qualified?" Daniel looked angrily at Ethan. "I will prove with facts and strength that I am qualified!"
Ethan sneered. "Qualified for what?"
Daniel was infuriated by Ethan and wanted to argue. But Ethan was using a video conference, so at most, he could only smash the computer.
Jasmine looked at Daniel coldly. "How come you gained some skills after spending some time in prison? Did the life inside give you confidence?"
Daniel clenched his fists and lowered his eyes, not daring to look Jasmine in the eye.
Whether it was a detention center or a prison, it was unbearable for a normal person.
But back then, he had caused Jasmine to spend five years inside.
"Jasmine, Bradley has already agreed to sign the share transfer agreement. There's no point in you continuing to block it," Mark said in a deep voice, throwing the signed agreement on the table.
Jasmine frowned at Bradley, feeling betrayed.
Bradley avoided her gaze and looked down.
"If Daniel is so eager to return to the company, fine. Everyone thinks you can secure the cooperation with the Powell family, so let's see who can get it?" Jasmine looked at Daniel. "If you can't secure cooperation with the Powell family, and I do, you and your father will leave the Douglas Group and San Fransisco forever."
Daniel clenched his fists tightly and never looked up at Jasmine.
After a long silence, Mark spoke up, "We will secure this cooperation."
Mark was confident, probably because 'Messiah' had given him this confidence.
Mark picked up the share transfer agreement and looked at Daniel. "Daniel, let's go."
"The Douglas family is saved."
"Saved."
Several executives said the Douglas Group was saved.
Jasmine sat quietly in her seat, waiting for everyone to leave before looking at Ethan on the computer screen. "We can't stop him. If he wants to enter the Douglas family, let him. Let's see who the Powell family chooses to cooperate with in the end."
"Jasmine, come back and eat. I'm scared when you're angry." Ethan coaxed Jasmine. "I've already made dinner."
Jasmine's anger dissipated the moment she saw Ethan 'acting cute.' She quickly turned off the video, as it was still on the big screen.
Tom said, "Ethan is really obedient."
"Hope you won't be so obedient when you find a wife." Ben teased with a smile. "I think he is pretty good, quite manly."
Tom snorted. "If I find a wife, there's no way I'll let her control me. Impossible."
"Don't speak too soon," Jasmine retorted as she walked out of the conference room.
The cooperation with the Powell family still needed to be discussed with Lily.
"Lily, what's your situation now?" Jasmine called Lily.
Lily answered the phone, her gaze softening. "I'm in Kerea. And I got a marriage certificate with Xavier."
"Have you thought it through?" Jasmine asked.
"Yes." Lily nodded firmly.
"Jasmine, I'm pregnant. It's Xavier's child, so he agreed to marry me," Lily explained.
Jasmine was surprised. Lily was never a naive woman; she was forced by circumstances but never foolish.
"I know what I'm doing, and I know what you and Ethan want. You want the cooperation with the Powell family, right?" Lily probed.
"Yes." Jasmine admitted.
"Let's cooperate. Discuss it with Ethan. I'll use my relationship with Xavier and the child to secure my position in the Powell family. You needa help me. We can maintain a long-term, stable cooperation," Lily said nervously, unsure if Jasmine would help her.
"Lily." Jasmine was worried, afraid Lily was going too far.
"I choose the path. If not forced into a corner, who would take such risks? Don't you agree?" Lily's voice was hoarse. "Jasmine, I've always envied and been jealous of you. We've both been through dark times, but you had Ethan to pull you out. I didn't have such luck; I can only rely on myself."
Jasmine was silent.
"Jasmine, help me. I need to climb out, bit by bit, no matter how hard, no matter how much I get hurt, even if I lose my life. I need to climb up so no one can trample me again." Lily's voice was low.
"I'll discuss it with Ethan," Jasmine said.
"Jasmine, I hope we can be lifelong friends and partners, not competitors and enemies," Lily said softly.
Jasmine felt a chill.
When a woman becomes ruthless, it can be truly terrifying.
"Lily, I never wanted to use you for too much. I don't want you to get deeper into this. Some paths don't lead out of hell but further into it."
From one hell to a deeper hell.
"Don't preach to me like they do. Even if it's hell, I have to go. It's my path." Lily's voice trembled.
"I understand." Jasmine took a deep breath. "Live and let live."
Lily laughed, trembling, and then cried. "Yes, that's who you should be. If people don't look out for themselves, heaven and earth will destroy them. We can only rely on each other to survive in this disgusting world."
After calling Lily, Jasmine was distracted.
Lily's decision was sudden and frightening.
If she failed, with the Powell family's ruthlessness, it would be a bottomless abyss for her.
Why did she choose to get involved with someone like Xavier?
"What's wrong?" Ethan hugged Jasmine from behind.
"Ethan, is Lily making a mistake?" Jasmine asked softly.
"The path is chosen by her. There's no right or wrong, and no need for regret." Ethan kissed Jasmine's hair. "Don't interfere in others' lives. The more you grow, the more you need to learn to be 'selfish.' It's hard enough to take care of yourself."
Jasmine lowered her head. "Lily said she envied me for meeting you in the dark."
"It's mutual luck." Ethan held Jasmine's hand.
"She wants to cooperate with us. She said she wants to use the child to secure her position in the Powell family." Jasmine was stunned.
Lily wanted Xavier dead?
Ethan was also stunned, looking deeply at Jasmine. "She's quite ruthless."
"Can we help her?" Jasmine asked softly.
"That depends on what she does. If she can get rid of Xavier and come out unscathed, I'll help her." Ethan's voice was low.
Cooperation was a game.
"I'm afraid we'll create a formidable enemy for ourselves, like Bradley." Jasmine still didn't fully trust Lily.
"You have me." Ethan smiled at Jasmine. "I'll always be your greatest support. No matter how high she climbs, she can't surpass me."
Ethan was always confident.
And he could give Jasmine enough confidence.
"There are no permanent allies, only permanent interests."
