Chapter 337 Will Richard Save Aurora or Betty?
Ethan frowned at Connor, his voice low. "I advise you not to show up in front of her and provoke her."
"When Jasmine was in prison, she hurt someone, which was one of the reasons she couldn't get parole," Connor said solemnly.
Ethan was getting impatient. "Just say everything you need to say.'"
"Jasmine, in a state of emotional distress, once harmed a fellow inmate. The reason was that the other person deliberately tried to undress her to humiliate her, used foul language, and instigated physical violence. All of these were triggers that caused Jasmine to lose control." Connor seemed to be intentionally reminding Ethan.
Ethan's hands clenched tightly, shaking. "Shouldn't it be considered self-defense to fight back in a situation like this?"
"I am talking to you about potentially triggering her, and you are talking to me about self-defense," Connor felt a bit of a communication barrier with Ethan. "Aren't you afraid that one day, because of something you say that triggers her, she might hurt you?"
Ethan's tightly clenched hands slowly opened, raising one hand to rub his forehead. "In my eyes, no matter what she does, it's never wrong."
Connor just gave a faint smile. "You're speaking too soon."
Jasmine's condition was only temporarily stable.
No one could truly accept having a so-called 'madman' around them all the time.
The Cunningham Group.
Annabelle went to the company to look for Nolan and happened to meet Jasmine in the hallway.
Annabelle stopped Jasmine in her tracks, sneering, "I can't believe that you managed to secure the Crestwood Development Group project."
Jasmine ignored Annabelle because she didn't sleep well last night, she wasn't in a very good mood.
"Mr. Everhart said you guys are flying to Maple Grove this weekend. What a coincidence! Daniel and I are also going. However, the outcome of this project remains unknown," Annabelle reminded Jasmine that this time, she must win.
"If you were really that confident, you wouldn't be standing here telling me all this," Jasmine said in a low voice, then turned and walked away.
"Jasmine, what would it take for you to give up on this investment project?" Annabelle reached out to stop Jasmine once again, intending to be well-prepared.
'First, I will persuade Jasmine to back off and not compete with me.’
'Then my chances of winning increased.' she thought.
"You don't have to waste your efforts; I won't give up," Jasmine said firmly, "In this project, we compete fairly."
"Jasmine, I advise you, those who understand the times are the wise ones," Annabelle frowned and spoke.
"I am not the wise one; I am just Ethan's wife. I only know that I have to fight for this project for my husband to contribute to his career," Jasmine warned Annabelle, and she would not give up on this project.
No matter what means she used.
"Jasmine, this is all your own doing," Annabelle said as she put her hands down, allowing Jasmine to leave.
She hadn't originally planned to do anything too extreme to Jasmine, but now it seemed that Jasmine didn't know her place.
Watching Jasmine leave, Annabelle sneered. "Did you find it?"
The assistant nodded. "When Ms. Jasmine was in prison, she hurt someone and attempted suicide many times. The psychologist for her is this Connor, a person from the Hawthornes."
Annabelle took the phone and glanced at Connor's profile, a smile playing on her lips. "It seems like he is someone we can collaborate with," she said.
Maplewood Elementary School.
The abandoned old school campus, where no one lived anymore, was covered in overgrown grass on the playground.
Betty walked alone on the path, heading towards the direction of the classroom building.
Aurora said this is the alma mater of her and Richard, as well as the place where they met.
"You actually dared to come alone." In the empty hallway of the school building, Aurora sat alone in a wheelchair.
Betty furrowed her brows. "Didn't you ask me to come alone?"
"You are really stupid," Aurora sighed. "The Miss of the Ryan family, who usually has several bodyguards rotating to protect her even at home, came to such a remote and desolate place for Richard."
Betty took a few steps forward and sneered, "Where's Robert?"
"He hasn't arrived yet," Aurora said, looking out the window. She gestured for Betty to be quiet.
"I promised to let you watch the show."
Betty looked meaningfully at Aurora. "So, what kind of show are you planning to show me?"
"Betty, are you so impatient?" In the classroom, Braden walked out laughing, accompanied by a few thugs who surrounded Betty.
"It turns out he's the one behind you," Betty said, looking at Aurora with a low voice.
"Braden said you are very smart. I used to think you were hard to deceive." Aurora turned her wheelchair and looked at Betty. "I've said it before Richard and I are not from the same world as you. You should give him back to me."
"What have you done?" Betty's eyelids were twitching fiercely.
"I had someone tell Richard that I was kidnapped and brought to Maplewood Elementary School's teaching building," Aurora said, gesturing towards the window to Betty. "I wanted you to see if he would actually be worried about me."
"Ridiculous." Betty sneered.
Braden wanted to get closer to Betty, but he was stunned by a glance from Betty.
She looked at Braden with a cold gaze. "Are you using these unconventional methods again? This is Silverlight City, after all."
"I'm just going along with your show, not kidnapping anyone," Braden gestured for the people around him to leave. "Betty, do you dare to see whether Aurora's importance in Richard's heart outweighs yours?"
Betty frowned. "What do you want to say, after all?"
Braden smiled and raised his hand as if to pinch Betty's chin. "Richard is clueless. I should have been the one betrothed to you, not him. Yet he had to meddle in and ruin everything. He's such a nuisance."
Betty slapped Braden in the face.
A few bodyguards wanted to step forward.
Braden smiled and gently touched her face, signaling to the others not to move.
"Betty, you can like anyone you want, even if it's someone like Ethan. I can tolerate it. But you had to go and like a low-life from the bottom of society," Braden ranted. "A bodyguard, a worthless life."
Betty slapped Braden across the face. "Did you endure Ethan? That's because you had to endure it. You can't afford to provoke those who have power. Now they're getting aggressive."
Braden's eyes flashed with a hint of anger as he clenched his fists. "Squeezing Richard to death felt like squishing an ant to me."
Betty raised her hand, wanting to hit Braden again.
Braden reached out and grabbed Betty's wrist. "You're addicted," he said.
As a result, Betty launched a surprise attack, kicking right between his legs.
Braden's forehead was sweating from the pain, gritting his teeth. He raised his hand, wanting to hit her, but his hand stayed frozen in mid-air for a while and didn't come down.
"Alright, you're going to have a hard time later!" Braden gritted his teeth and leaned against the wall for quite a while.
Betty is really ruthless...
"Mr. Johnson,, Richard has arrived." the subordinate, Jackson reported.
Richard was running around the playground, looking for someone.
He ran anxiously towards the academic building, clearly in panic and fear.
"He seems really worried about Aurora," Jackson stood behind Betty, smiling as he spoke.
Betty remained silent, her gaze burning as she watched Richard approaching.
"The show begins." Jackson grabbed Betty's wrist and pulled her up to the rooftop.
Top floor.
Aurora sat on the rooftop of the building across from the teaching building, shouting to Richard, "Richard! Save me."
Richard stopped, looked up, furrowed his brow.
"You're so childish. Do you think Richard will save me or save her?" Betty looked at Aurora performing across from her, sarcastically asking.
"How could I? I couldn't bear to let you stand in such a dangerous place," Braden said as he hugged Betty from behind and handed her the phone, "All you need to do now is call Richard, ask him what he's up to, and tell him you got into a car accident and see how he responds."
