Chapter 252 The Cunningham Family's Matriarch is Not Easily Deceived

Serena was taken aback and her expression changed instantly after she recognized the person in front of her. "What are you doing here!?"

"I come to check on you," May's eyes turned red as she tried to approach Serena. "Serena, how did you suddenly lose a kidney?"

Serena clenched her hands. "Who told you to come here? Get out."

May moved closer to the hospital bed. "Serena, I haven't been here for a few years. How did you become so thin? I thought they would treat you well."

Serena's heart raced, and she avoided eye contact. "You better leave quickly. If someone sees you here, we will get into trouble sooner or later!"

"I truly feel sorry for you," May's eyes turned red as she tried to get closer to Serena.

"If you really feel sorry for me, make Wilson suffer the same pain as me! Even if she can't donate a kidney to me, I want her to suffer like me!" Serena had gone mad and shouted uncontrollably.

May took a deep breath. "Serena, Wilson is already suffering enough."

"Not enough! It's never enough!" Serena shouted in madness. "Why does she have Ethan protecting her? Why!?"

May wiped her tears away. "Don't get worked up, I'll find a solution for you."

"I want Wilson to suffer more than me!" Serena tightly gripped the blanket. "Just because she's still alive, Daniel wants to divorce me! You promised to help me get rid of her five years ago, where were you?"

May's face turned pale. "Alright, alright, don't cry. I'll definitely find a way."

DNA Testing Center.

After the DNA test results for Cordelia and Annabelle came out, everyone fell silent.

Thomson and Amanda looked astonished and shocked as they stared at Cordelia as if everything was excellently acted out.

Annabelle seemed to perform the best, first showing surprise, then turning teary-eyed, her voice trembling. "Could the results be wrong? Should we test again?"

Annabelle nervously looked at Cordelia. "Mrs. Cunningham, I, I never knew that I was your daughter."

Annabelle was on the verge of crying.

Cordelia's eyes became teary as well, and tears started to flow. "Child, let me have a good look at you."

Cordelia excitedly embraced Annabelle, lifting her hand to comfort her head. "My child, I have been searching for you all these years."

After saying that, Cordelia began crying while holding onto Annabelle.

Annabelle cried too.

Thomson and Amanda's eyes turned red as well. "We never expected that the connection between our families would run so deep."

"Mr. Harper, let my mom and Annabelle spend some time together. Let's go out first," Edward said quietly, glancing back at Cordelia.

Thomson and Amanda quickly nodded. "Let's step outside. This is the day of their reunion as mother and daughter. Let them catch up," Thomson said.

Only Cordelia and Annabelle were left in the room. Annabelle who had been crying, remained silent.

"Annabelle, tell me the truth. How has the Harper family treated you all these years?" Cordelia asked softly.

"Mrs. Cunningham, the Harper family, they have treated me well. It's just that I wasn't good enough to satisfy them," Annabelle replied, taking all the blame upon herself.

"You've suffered," Cordelia said, tears streaming down her face.

"Mrs. Cunningham." Annabelle reached out to wipe Cordelia's tears, displaying a deep mother-daughter bond.

"As long as they treat you well, I will be relieved. If the Harper family dares to mistreat you, I will make them pay," Cordelia said hoarsely.

Cordelia was, after all, a former powerful woman in the business world who had singlehandedly supported the Cunningham Family. Her presence exuded a strong sense of authority.

Annabelle felt lingering fear and unease. "Mrs. Cunningham, they have been good to me."

"Why still call me Mrs. Cunningham? Call me mom," Cordelia said, her eyes red as she looked at Annabelle, reaching up to fix her hair. "You have no idea how much effort I put into finding you all these years, and how many people wanted to impersonate you."

Annabelle instinctively swallowed, feeling a wave of nervousness. "Mom."

Cordelia wiped away her tears and nodded with a smile. "Good girl."

Annabelle's fear still lingered. She hasn't fully calmed down yet. She was afraid of her true identity being exposed. As the head of the Cunningham Family, she understood the consequences of such an exposure.

At this point, the Harper family members thought she was insane for carrying out this plan.

It was a risky move, but if successful, Annabelle would get everything she desired.

"Annabelle, are you planning to come back to the Cunningham Residence with me, or do you want to stay at the Harper Residence for a while to adjust? I'll listen to you," Cordelia asked softly.

"Mom, I'll listen to you," Annabelle obediently replied.

"Alright, alright," Cordelia patted Annabelle's back. "I need to tell Nolan and Edgar the good news as soon as possible. We should all gather together as a family and celebrate."

As she spoke, Cordelia's voice choked up.

"Mom, please don't cry," Annabelle quickly hugged Cordelia to comfort her, acting like a caring and obedient daughter.

"Never mind, never mind, I'm just too excited," Cordelia wiped away her tears. "Mom, I'll take my foster parents back first. They have taken care of me for so long, and I believe they would also be happy for me. But I need to consider their feelings."

"You're such a good child," Cordelia nodded. "Go ahead, I'll wait for you at home. Later, I'll send the butler to pick you up from the Harper Residence. Nolan will be back tonight, and you two can get to know each other."

Annabelle nodded, suppressing her inner excitement.

She had been wanting to meet Nolan for a long time.

Ethan promised Nolan that he would marry the true daughter of the Cunningham Family.

Once she solidified her identity as the true daughter of the Cunningham Family, let's see how Ethan could escape from that.

After Annabelle left, Edward walked into the room. "Mom, what do you think of Annabelle?"

"It's not that I'm suspicious, but there have been too many people in these years trying to attach themselves to the Cunningham Family using my daughter's name," Cordelia controlled her emotions and spoke in a deep voice. "This is what I took from Annabelle just now. Take it to be retested at a different facility, preferably with someone trustworthy."

Cordelia raised her hand and handed the hair strand to Edward.

Edward nodded, recognizing Cordelia's vigilance.

"I heard that your father's vixen contacted your brother again?" Cordelia's voice became low. "Over the years, she has been trying to replace me, but she has never succeeded. Is she now trying to take over the company?"

"No need to worry, she's just a buffoon. Mom, you are the rightful wife. As long as you don't divorce, she will never be able to make it to the top," Edward reassured her.

"This matter should not be made public. You are the most reliable among the three brothers. If Annabelle is really my daughter, then it's all good. But if not, there must be a problem with the Harper family," Cordelia squinted her eyes. "That nurse, she appeared at the exact moment. It's probably related to that vixen."

Edward nodded. "And what about Nolan and Edgar?"

"Nolan may be level-headed, but he is not good at lying or pretending," Cordelia shook her head. "As for Edgar, your own brother, don't you know his personality? If he knows something, he going to want to announce it to the whole world."

Edward laughed helplessly. "It's unfortunate that only Edgar can keep Nolan in check. Like father, like son."

It seemed like Cordelia gave birth to Edgar for the sole purpose of managing Nolan.

"We need to investigate first, without telling anyone. It's enough that you and I know the truth," Cordelia wanted to know the truth before making further plans. As for the Harper family, regardless of the truth, they must remain steady.
