Chapter 402 Ethan Got Stuck with Annabelle
"I don't like him," Richard snorted; it was rare for him to dislike someone at first sight.
Everyone could see his relationship with Betty, and Arnold surely could, too.
He called Betty "Mrs. Hughes," definitely on purpose.
Richard felt that Arnold was not a good person. "Moreover, he is clearly inclined to cooperate with Howard. Once they allied,, it will be a significant blow to our company and the Cunningham Group."
Richard now considered Arnold an enemy.
"Indeed." Betty nodded, lying in Richard's arms. "This Arnold is definitely hard to deal with."
"Now it all depends on Ethan's efforts," Betty said, her hands not idle as she caressed Richard.
Richard shivered, grabbed Betty's waist, and pulled her into his arms. "Behave yourself."
"I don't want to," Betty said, her breath hot against Richard's ear as she spoke again. "Let's make love in the car."
"No!" Richard was furious.
He covered Betty's mouth with his hand and finally sighed in relief.
But Betty was becoming more and more seductive... She had no scruples at all.
With Richard covering her mouth, she simply bit his finger.
Richard really had no way to deal with her. He could only hold her in his arms, bite her neck, and speak in a hoarse voice, "Honey, don't move, be good."
Betty's ears turned red, and she indeed didn't dare to move.
She was always the one to initiate, and even though she managed to arouse Richard, she was also the one who hesitated to take the next step.
The Douglas family.
Arnold sat in the room, looking very relaxed.
But the fact that he could spend time on Howard's birthday already said everything about his attitude.
"Mr. Sanders, how have you had time to return to the country recently?" Ethan handed Arnold a cup of coffee.
"The Sanders Group has long wanted to shift its focus to Silverlight City," Arnold did not hide anything and spoke quite frankly.
"If your group wants to develop in Silverlight City, choosing the right partners is indeed very important." Ethan nodded. "But the Douglas family is internally chaotic, and its development potential is limited. You should be cautious."
Annabelle, standing nearby, was a bit angry. "Ethan, even though you left the Douglas family because of a mistake, you still hold many shares in the Douglas Group. You can't say that."
"You have no right to speak here. Ethan must have his plans, and he will definitely help the Douglas Group," Lisa frowned, displeased as she retorted to Annabelle.
Annabelle gritted her teeth and glared at Lisa, idiot.
Couldn't Lisa see that Ethan was very dissatisfied with the Douglas Group and Claire?
"The Sanders Group and the Cunningham Group have always been competitors," Arnold said while drinking coffee and glancing at Ethan, "The Cunningham Group has shifted its focus and is fully cooperating with Raymond. The possibility of the Sanders Group collaborating with them is very small."
Arnold's meaning was clear: currently, the most promising partners in Silverlight City are the Douglas Group and the Raymond Group.
The latter had inked a long-term deal with the Cunningham Group for joint development in Silverlight City. .
The Sanders and Cunningham Groups have always been rivals. The Raymond Group's choice of Cunningham means Sanders is off the table. This made the former, suppressed by the Raymond Group, a more intriguing option for Arnold.
Firstly, because the Douglas Group had a long history and had been a leading force in Silverlight City for many years, with solid strength.
Secondly, it had a competitive relationship with Raymond, and Howard was now eager to find a company that could help him, making it easier for Arnold to take the lead in cooperation and profits.
Either way, it was beneficial for Arnold.
Ethan probably already understood Arnold's intentions and didn't say anything further.
"However, I talked to your father, and there's a condition: for the Sanders Group and the Douglas Group to cooperate, you need to return to the company and participate in management," Arnold said to Ethan in a friendly manner.
Obviously, Arnold was a smart person, and a good manager was crucial for the future of the Douglas Group.
Arnold clearly didn't think much of Daniel.
"The Douglas family's internal affairs are complicated; I won't get involved." Ethan declined politely.
As long as Howard and Daniel were there, he wouldn't return to the Douglas Group, but that didn't mean he would give up on the Douglas family.
"The Douglas family is the hard work of my grandfather and my mother; I won't watch the Douglas Group go bankrupt," Ethan said meaningfully.
Arnold also sipped his coffee with a deep look in his eyes, lightly tapping the table with his fingers.
Ethan reminded Arnold that the Douglas A group was just a company; companies were inanimate, but people were alive.
Choosing to cooperate with Howard of the Douglas Group or with Ethan were two different concepts.
Annabelle's face turned dark; Arnold was here for Ethan.
So this was the reason Howard started to be friendly with Ethan.
Clearly, Arnold didn't value Daniel at all.
Biting her lip, Annabelle felt increasingly resentful.
Unfortunately, she married that fool, Daniel.
"There won't be long-lasting conflicts between father and son," Arnold said with a smile.
"Sometimes, the relationship between father and son is just biological," Ethan said calmly.
Arnold's hand, holding the coffee cup, paused for a moment, then smiled and nodded without saying anything further.
Ethan's attitude was already very clear.
The choice was Arnold's own business.
"I'll skip the coffee; I have things to attend to at the company. I'll leave now and contact your father separately," Arnold said, standing up and shaking hands with Ethan.
Ethan saw him off, and they exchanged a few words.
Arnold was a very experienced person in the business circle, and his inner thoughts were hard to guess.
Watching Arnold leave, Ethan's face darkened.
If Arnold decided to cooperate with Howard, then they would be enemies in the future.
Given Arnold's current situation, choosing to cooperate with Howard could get more benefits from Howard.
But if the Douglas Group continued like this, it would be run into bankruptcy by Howard and Daniel.
He must act quickly.
He absolutely could not let his grandfather and mother's hard work be destroyed in Howard's hands.
"Ethan..." Seeing Arnold leave, Annabelle softly called Ethan's name, her eyes welling up with tears. "Ethan, let's talk. None of that stuff online is true. I can really understand Jasmine's despair now."
As she spoke, Annabelle began to cry. "Ethan, I really like you. Why don't you like me?"
Ethan turned to look at Annabelle. At this distance, with her crying, he hadn't hurt her!
Ethan took two steps back, feeling quite speechless.
"Ethan..." Annabelle cried even more sorrowfully, trying to take advantage of the moment to get closer to Ethan, so she stepped forward two steps.
Ethan frowned. "There are many things I like, but you are not one of them."
Annabelle stood there, stunned for a moment, then cried and tried to throw herself into Ethan's arms again.
"You're really shameless." Lisa came out, quickly grabbed Annabelle's hair, and pulled her aside.
"Ethan, Dad's condition is very bad. It would help if you went to the hospital to see him," Lisa asked anxiously.
