Chapter 514 Arnold Doesn't Believe Sophia
Cordelia lounged on the sofa, waiting for the results.
The person in charge handed them to Arnold.
Arnold's face darkened as he read. What did this mean?
Sophia smirked, sure Richard was Arnold's kid.
"Where's the child?" Cordelia asked.
Seeing Arnold's grim look, Cordelia already knew. Arnold stayed silent, so she pressed on.
Where had Sophia hidden the child?
Arnold had been married before, so it wasn't surprising, but Cordelia wanted to know where Sophia had hidden the child.
Sophia didn't realize Guadalupe was actually Arnold, so she never publicly claimed to have a child. Now that she found out Guadalupe's true identity, she could use the child to control him, which was why she insisted on a paternity test.
"What do you mean by asking where I hid the child? Cordelia, you've always been so competitive and judgmental. You're now questioning my love for my child. Over the years, I have taken good care of my son, and he has grown up remarkably well," Sophia said proudly, trying to show Arnold she had raised their son well.
"She competes with you? You're not worthy." Arnold frowned, shocked at Sophia's audacity.
A mistress who wrecked someone else's family had the nerve to say others were competitive.
Sophia felt wronged, her eyes reddening with grievance. "Arnold, you can't say that about me. We were once married."
Arnold felt disgusted, frowning at Sophia. "Are you here just to disgust me?"
"Arnold, saying that really hurts me. Even if you don't care about me, you should care about our child," Sophia continued, looking aggrieved.
Cordelia couldn't stand it anymore. She and Sophia had a history. Over twenty years ago, she had already experienced Sophia's ability to disguise herself in the Cunningham family.
"What child?" Arnold reached for the lighter and burned the paternity test report. "If there really is a child, let the child come to see me personally. Just a few strands of hair in your hand don't qualify for a paternity test."
Sophia was stunned and tried to stop him, but it was too late.
The report in Arnold's hand had already turned to ashes.
Sophia believed she was playing a clever game by leaving Richard behind, hoping to make Arnold worry and thus, control him. But Arnold had been in the business world for years; he wasn't someone who could be easily manipulated.
"Sophia, I won't believe anything you say. Either bring the child to me for inspection or leave immediately. If you try to manipulate me with the child again, I'll make you vanish from Silverlight City," Arnold warned.
"Arnold, why are you so heartless? That's your son, I..." Sophia bit her lip, scared by Arnold's aura, not daring to speak recklessly.
"Sophia, even if the so-called son is mine, you and your son are nothing if I don't acknowledge him, understand?" Arnold stood up, looking down at Sophia with a cold smile. "You miscalculated."
Sophia thought she could control him with a child. How ridiculous.
If the child was Cordelia's, he might protect him with his life. But if it was Sophia's, he wouldn't even want to see him.
Sophia couldn't raise a good kid; she was too selfish.
"You're really foolish," Cordelia said, standing up and giving Sophia a sarcastic look. "Dumping Willian for Arnold was probably your biggest mistake."
Sophia felt a wave of panic. She hadn't expected Cordelia to bring Willian into this.
She had hoped to keep Willian as a back-up, but now she had to go all out.
Explaining this to Willian would be tough.
Luckily, she and Willian had a daughter.
No matter what, she wouldn't lose completely.
"Cordelia, we'll see," Sophia said through gritted teeth, full of resentment.
Cordelia raised an eyebrow, dismissive.
Arnold opened the door for Cordelia, clearly showing her respect, while Sophia was left in the dust.
Seeing Arnold still acting like a bodyguard, Sophia was furious. She would make them pay.
Outside, Arnold looked at Cordelia nervously. "Are you mad?"
"I'm not mad," Cordelia said, shaking her head, though she was a bit distracted.
According to Jasmine, Sophia had been pestering Richard recently. Betty also said Sophia had been acting crazy, not letting go of Richard.
She rubbed her temples regretfully. Richard might really be Sophia's son.
That would be a real pity, having such a good kid with a mother like that.
"Even if there is such a child, I won't acknowledge him. It has nothing to do with me." Arnold frowned.
He was used to being alone and had nothing to worry about.
He didn't have Alex's sense of bloodline. His business could be handed over to capable people in the future. He had long planned to give his assets and shares to Cordelia's children.
Over the years, although he and the Cunningham Group had always been at odds, always competing for resources, they had also been advancing together.
Arnold recognized Nolan's abilities. In the future, his business would be handed over to Cordelia's siblings.
Regardless of whether Cordelia would choose him in the end.
Seeing Cordelia still distracted, seemingly thinking about something, Arnold became even more anxious. "Cordelia, do you think I'm cold-blooded?"
If there really was such a child, and he ignored him, would she find him cold-blooded?
"No," Cordelia said, not wanting to discuss this with Arnold. She just wanted to know if the child was Richard.
"Sophia has a sister named May. She kidnapped my daughter," Cordelia frowned, wishing she could kill Sophia when she mentioned this.
"May has a son named Richard. Both his age and appearance match Sophia's description, and Sophia has been pestering Richard recently," Cordelia looked at Arnold. "Honestly, Richard is a great kid. If he really is your son, acknowledging him and nurturing him wouldn't be a bad thing."
Arnold frowned. Richard. The name sounded familiar.
"Sophia has broken things off with William, so she'll go all out to get you. That child is her only bargaining chip. I'm worried that if it really is Richard, she'll use tricks to lure him to her side. We must act first," Cordelia said. If it really was Richard, Arnold had to protect him before Sophia could get to him.
