Chapter 527 Claire Excruciated Annabelle
Ethan quit, and Samuel took over as CEO, making some bold moves.
As expected, Deborah resigned too. Her heart wasn't in it, and both Jasmine and Samuel knew it.
She took many of LY's partnerships with her, hitting LY hard, just as hard as Howard's retaliation.
"Deborah's intentions were clear since Ethan left," Samuel said sarcastically.
"But we planned for this and minimized the damage," Jasmine smiled, pleased. "Without us, LY would have suffered more."
Samuel nodded. "With Ethan and Deborah gone, it sends a clear message. Howard's eased up on LY and is focusing on Raymond now. This gives us some breathing room."
They needed to seize the opportunity.
"Good news from the Security Department. Mr. Brown secured the Sanders Group's security project in Silverlight City. It's a big deal," the assistant announced happily.
Richard and Arnold had their first small collaboration.
Jasmine believed Arnold valued Richard's skills, not just the possibility that Richard might be his son.
"Jasmine, someone is here to see you. No appointment, came early. His name is Alex."
Jasmine was surprised. Alex?
"Is it the Alex I'm thinking of?" Samuel asked, waving the project in his hand. They were focusing on the bet project with the Everhart family.
The Douglas Group was determined to win this project, posing a strong challenge.
If they lost, LY would be in big trouble.
"I'll go check it out." Jasmine was surprised Alex came to see her.
Jasmine went downstairs and saw a haggard Alex.
Compared to his previous high spirits, Alex looked much older now.
Jasmine sat across from Alex. "Mr. Everhart?"
Alex snapped out of his thoughts, looking embarrassed. "Jasmine, I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have come."
"Mr. Everhart, please get to the point." Jasmine nodded, having a rough idea.
Her godmother had asked her to see Evan, and she had agreed. But LY had been busy with Deborah, so she hadn't had the time. Alex must have come for Evan.
"Jasmine, I'm very sorry for what Evan did to you. I know you won't forgive him, but can I, as a father, ask you to see him?" Alex seemed desperate.
"What's wrong with him?" Jasmine had been avoiding news about Evan, but she knew something must have happened.
Otherwise, Alex and Evelina wouldn't keep seeking her out.
"He's very remorseful and has been attempting suicide and self-harm."
Jasmine took a deep breath, her eyes reddening. "He finally got what he deserved."
Though she hated him, her heart still felt bitter.
If he had known this would happen, he wouldn't have hurt her in the first place.
"At least he's lucky to have a father like you." Jasmine thought Evan was still fortunate.
But she wasn't doing too badly either. She had found her biological mother, had two sons, four brothers, and a husband.
"Sorry." Alex could only apologize on Evan's behalf.
"I'll go see him, but not now," Jasmine said. "I'm really busy right now."
"I know you're busy with the bet agreement. Jasmine, don't get me wrong. I'm not threatening you. I'll choose LY. I'm just asking you to see him today," Alex pleaded, setting aside his pride for his son.
Jasmine took a deep breath. It would be foolish to reject such an opportunity out of pride. Besides, their proposal was as good as, if not better than, the Douglas Group's.
With Alex's assurance, Jasmine felt more confident. "Alright, I trust your word, Mr. Everhart. No need for a written agreement."
Jasmine's move was strategic. Winning often required flexibility and cunning.
The Douglas Group's methods were even dirtier.
Plus, Evan had used her before, so she was just returning the favor.
Alex sighed in relief and nodded. "Alright, let's go back now."
Meanwhile, Daniel came home looking upset.
He knew Claire and Howard had imprisoned Annabelle, but it still bothered him.
"Where's Annabelle?" Daniel asked.
Claire, in a good mood, was on the couch, filing her nails. "Why do you care about that bitch?"
"She doesn't know where those documents are. Even if you keep her locked up forever, she won't be able to tell you."
Daniel frowned, trying to convince Claire to release Annabelle so they could get a divorce and move on.
But Claire was indifferent. "That bitch knows something, but she won't talk. You don't need to worry about it."
Claire stood up, tossing the nail file aside. "Just focus on the company. Your dad wants to give you power and shares. Show some ambition."
Daniel lowered his head and compromised once again.
In the basement of the backyard, Claire had tortured Annabelle to the point of being unrecognizable.
Her pride was completely shattered.
"Claire, you're not human. I want to kill you," Annabelle said, filled with hatred.
Claire walked in, sneering. "Still not willing to talk?"
At the sound of Claire's voice, Annabelle reflexively curled up, watching her warily.
"If you don't talk today, I'll kill you," Claire threatened.
Annabelle coldly stared at Claire, then gritted her teeth. "I'll talk. I can tell you where the documents are, but I want to see Howard."
"You little bitch, you want to see Howard? I won't let you. Either tell me where the documents are, or I'll ruin your face." Claire slapped Annabelle.
Annabelle defiantly looked at Claire. "I want to see Howard. If you don't let me, I won't say anything, even if you kill me."
Both were gambling, seeing who would give in first.
Annabelle knew that if Claire couldn't find the documents, Howard wouldn't hand over the company to Daniel.
Claire coldly stared at Annabelle. "I'll be watching you. If you try anything, I'll kill you."
Annabelle sneered, ready for a final desperate fight.
She remembered that Serena had evidence of Claire and Howard conspiring to kill Ethan's mother. Although Serena was dead, there must still be traces.
The person who wanted Claire and Howard dead the most was Ethan.
She had to see Claire punished!
