Chapter 703 Ethan is Back

The Douglas Group's project was halted for nearly three days, creating a dire situation. Reporters gathered downstairs, waiting since early morning.

Jasmine looked at Vincent in her office, who had somehow entered the company without her noticing, and frowned. "Your so-called gift to me is putting the Douglas Group on the brink of collapse."

Vincent raised an eyebrow and leaned back on the sofa. "Sometimes you have to break things down to build them back up. The Douglas Group needs to be shaken up so that the people behind the scenes could reveal themselves. Ethan and I set up a trap to make them believe Ethan is dead. This way, they'll be eager to make a move on the Douglas Group and show their true colors."

In other words, it was time for the people behind the scenes to appear.

"This person is definitely targeting the Douglas Group, secretly buying up shares from the shareholders." Jasmine frowned.

"But don't get too happy too soon. This person is very smart. Even Owen doesn't know who he is, yet he seems to know everything. He's a clever one," Vincent said, tapping his fingers. "You'll have to handle the press conference on your own."

Jasmine said nothing.

The person behind this won't miss such a good opportunity and will definitely make a move on the Douglas Group.

Handling the press conference alone will be tough for Jasmine.

Jasmine gave Vincent a warning look. "You better not have any other intentions."

Vincent looked innocent. "Other intentions? I'm so pure. What other intentions could I have?"

He even winked at Jasmine after saying that.

Jasmine frowned. Her intuition told her that Vincent wouldn't be so obedient and helpful to her and Ethan.

But it did have some effect. With this person back, the people behind the scenes couldn't stay calm anymore. Otherwise, it would have taken much longer.

The enemy was in the dark while they were in the light; it was inherently unfair.

They needed to bring them out into the public to compete fairly.

"Ms. Cunningham, the reporters and partners have arrived." Ben knocked on the door.

Jasmine walked out. "Have you handled everything?"

"According to the list, we've demanded high breach-of-contract fees from all the projects involving the Harper family, and they've paid up." Ben nodded. The money was in hand, and they could start.

Jasmine smiled.

They insisted on terminating the contracts, thinking they could teach her a lesson at the press conference today?

This was just the beginning.

"The partners are saying some pretty harsh things to the reporters." Liam walked over, looking angry. "Can you handle this alone?"

Jasmine entered the elevator. "Who said I'm alone? We have so many people; there's nothing to fear."

Liam was stunned, probably not expecting the once timid and stuttering Jasmine to have changed so much.

The current Jasmine was confident, exuding resilience and strength.

She was no longer the Jasmine who had nothing and no one behind her.

She feared nothing now.

The partners blamed Jasmine at the press conference.

"With Ethan in trouble, the Douglas Group is poorly managed. Now it's managed by Jasmine. What a joke! Everyone knows Jasmine didn't even graduate from college before going to jail. How can such a woman be allowed to manage the company?"

"The Douglas Group is digging its own grave."

"Jasmine is a waste. We don't believe she can manage the company. Understandably, we terminated our contracts."

"The Douglas Group is facing an unprecedented crisis. You've all been long-term partners with them. Are you really going to watch a century-old enterprise fall?" a reporter asked.

The leading partners exchanged glances. "As long as they change their management, we can consider continuing our cooperation. A woman shouldn't destroy the century-old foundation of the Douglas Group. If Ethan were here, we wouldn't have cut ties."

"Exactly. Even if it's not Ethan, it should at least be someone like Daniel or Bradley, who are capable. Letting a woman take charge, what is that?"

When Jasmine arrived, the partners were still criticizing her.

Seeing Jasmine, they all snorted and fell silent.

Jasmine smiled. "Keep talking. Why did you stop?"

She let them continue their arrogance.

"Jasmine, when you're not fit for the position, you should step down. The Douglas Group is in this state all because of you," one of the partners said angrily.

Jasmine nodded. "All because of me? Where exactly did I go wrong? Why don't you tell me? Which part of the process had issues?"

The partner was stunned for a moment and said, "You, as a woman, couldn't manage the company."

"So, you're saying the reason you terminated the contract is because of gender discrimination?" Jasmine smiled.

The partner looked at Jasmine sinisterly. "Jasmine, everyone has given up on cooperating with you. Haven't you reflected on yourself?"

"Reflect on why I'm not a man?" Jasmine looked surprised. "Or do you really think having an extra useless part makes you superior? The discrimination women face in this industry all stems from your ignorance."

Several people snorted coldly. "No need for your sharp tongue. If the Douglas Group really falls, it will be all your fault."

"Yes! Step down from the management of the Douglas Group."

"Step down from the management!"

The scene was chaotic, with everyone shouting for Jasmine to step down.

It was clear they wanted to force Jasmine out today.

Jasmine clenched her fists, standing on the stage, waiting for them to tire out.

"Jasmine, you don't have the ability or the qualifications to manage the company. The company belongs to Ethan. Give it back to the Douglas family."

"The Douglas family? Are you asking Jasmine to hand over our jointly owned property to which member of the Douglas family?" A cold voice came from the entrance.

Ethan stood at the door, looking at Jasmine on the stage, and smiled at her.

He was wearing a black turtleneck, hiding the scars on his neck. Dressed in a suit, he stood there, exuding an overwhelming presence.

Jasmine forced herself to stay calm, holding onto the table, her eyes reddening.

He was back.

This time, he wouldn't leave again, right?

Ethan walked towards Jasmine, passing through the crowd.

Under the countless flashes of the reporters' cameras, Ethan seemed to be glowing.

"Ethan." Jasmine's voice was hoarse as she smiled at him.

She was holding back the tears in her eyes.

She thought, 'I missed you so much.'

Ethan approached Jasmine and raised his hand to wipe away her tears. "I'm back."

This time, he won't leave again.

"Ethan, how is he back? Isn't he..."

"Isn't he dead?" All the partners were panicking.

Wasn't Ethan dead?

They had only dared to bully Jasmine because they knew Ethan was dead.

But how was Ethan not dead? What was going on?
