Chapter 631 Justin was Taken Away by the Patrick Family
The Harper family had a major incident; the Harper couple was mysteriously murdered, and Claire and Howard were busting their butts trying to get their hands on the so-called evidence left behind.
"Plus, the Harper family started doing shady stuff like money laundering and tax evasion over twenty years ago," Ben told Jasmine during the investigation.
"Dig into the Harper family thoroughly," Jasmine said, taking a deep breath. "Who could have been scheming this for over twenty years?"
"They are definitely not amateurs," Ben replied, looking worried. "This is what Mr. Patrick is most concerned about."
When Jasmine walked into the Raymond Group, the receptionist greeted her. "Ms. Cunningham, this way, please."
Apparently, Brandon had already given instructions.
"Brandon is quite attentive," Tom remarked.
Just as Jasmine was about to step into the elevator, Brandon rushed over and pressed the button. "Ms. Cunningham, please."
Jasmine, looking puzzled, entered the elevator.
Brandon pressed the button again.
Jasmine said, "Ethan."
"Ah, Ms. Cunningham, have you eaten?" Brandon interrupted as soon as Jasmine started to speak.
"Want something to drink?" Brandon asked again.
"Where is Ethan?" Jasmine interrupted Brandon.
"Ah, how about we grab a bite first?" Brandon pretended not to hear and looked at Tom. "What do you want to eat?"
"I'll eat meat as long as it's fresh," Tom said bluntly.
Ben sighed; this naive kid.
Jasmine glanced at Tom. "Go ahead; come back when you're full."
Tom scratched his head. Did he say something wrong again?
Jasmine stepped out of the elevator and looked at Brandon. "Let's talk."
Seeing Jasmine was angry, Brandon looked at Tom for help.
Tom looked confused.
Ben spoke in a low voice, "I'll take Tom to get something to eat. You two go ahead."
Ben was perceptive.
As they walked away, Brandon sighed, having no way out. "Jasmine."
"Where is Ethan?" Jasmine just wanted to know where Ethan was.
"No news yet." Brandon lowered his head and took a deep breath. "Sorry, it's my fault. I should have gone instead of him."
The one who got into trouble should have been him.
"What happened?" Jasmine clenched her hands, forcing herself to stay calm.
"Howard threatened Ethan with Casey, and the boat went out to sea." Brandon lowered his head. "We rescued Casey."
Jasmine felt unsteady and took a step back.
Brandon nervously stepped forward. "He will come back."
Jasmine leaned against the wall and sat down in the office.
Brandon stood in front of her, feeling very sorry. "I'm very sorry."
"Where is he? Don't hide it from me," Jasmine said. She knew Ethan must have been found. If Ethan hadn't been rescued, Brandon wouldn't have been so calm talking to her.
"I..." Brandon stammered, afraid Jasmine couldn't handle it.
"Tell me." Jasmine's eyes were red, looking up at Brandon.
Brandon said, "That day, the boat exploded accidentally. Ethan protected Casey and got injured. He was immediately transferred to Muskow for treatment."
Ethan was not in the country; he had been sent abroad.
Jasmine's fingers trembled. "What did the doctors say about when he will wake up?"
Brandon lowered his head and shook it.
The doctors didn't say.
No one knew, but everyone was hoping for a miracle.
"He will come back." Jasmine placed her hand on her stomach. "If he misses the birth and growth of the child this time, I won't forgive him, liar."
Brandon lowered his head in guilt, not knowing what to say. Clearly, he should have done these things instead of Ethan.
"Is the Raymond Group in any trouble?" Jasmine asked.
"Ethan's always been the guy behind the scenes, so his absence doesn't hit the Raymond Group too hard. Don't worry, I've got it covered," Brandon reassured her.
Jasmine nodded. "Thanks for all your hard work."
Ethan trusted Brandon, so she would too. "Do you think you can handle Bradley?"
"I'll take care of it," Brandon nodded confidently.
Jasmine took a deep breath. "Does Ethan know someone might be pulling the strings behind the scenes?"
"We've looked into it, but if there's someone like that, they're too careful to leave any traces," Brandon frowned.
"Daniel's in prison because of me and has been abandoned. I bet this person will target Bradley next," Jasmine said, looking at Brandon. "I'll need your help with Bradley."
"Don't worry," Brandon nodded.
Jasmine was about to say something when her phone rang. It was Larry.
"What's up?" Jasmine asked.
"Jasmine, bad news. Justin was taken. The kindergarten teacher said he left willingly," Larry sounded panicked.
Jasmine stood up abruptly, her heart racing. "Who took him?"
Larry replied, "Joe said it was someone from the Patrick family."
Jasmine took a deep breath and frowned as she walked out.
What did the Patrick family want by messing with her son again?
"What happened?" Brandon caught up and asked.
"Nothing. I'm going to the hospital," Jasmine shook her head, not wanting Brandon involved.
Matthew was in the hospital, supposedly on his deathbed.
Ian, the illegitimate child sent away by the Patrick family, seemed overly filial.
He kept seeking out Justin, wanting Justin to see Matthew. What was his angle?
Jasmine didn't buy Ian's act of filial piety.
"Ian's a tough nut to crack with his so-called filial piety," Brandon was also worried.
Even Ethan was wary of him, which meant he wasn't simple.
Jasmine nodded; she also found Ian hard to read.
When Howard went to see him before, he quickly pledged loyalty but insisted on competing with her for the new energy project. Being able to drive Henry away and claw his way back into the Patrick family showed Ian was no pushover.
"Ben, come with me to the hospital." Downstairs, Jasmine called Ben to join her in seeing Matthew.
Justin wasn't Henry's son. Because of Matthew's poor health, Jasmine had been helping to keep this under wraps, but if the Patrick family kept harassing Justin, she wouldn't hide it anymore.
Matthew needed to know that Justin wasn't a Patrick.
"What happened?" Ben asked nervously.
"Ian took Justin again, probably to the hospital," Jasmine said. The reason Justin willingly left with Ian must be because something happened to Matthew.
"Is Ian desperately showing filial piety to Matthew to fight for his inheritance?" Jasmine looked at Ben.
Ben had always been with Henry, so he must know Ian better.
"He doesn't need to. Matthew already made a will. Most of the SHC Group shares are in Henry's hands, and the rest Matthew left to Justin in his will. Ian can't possibly..." Ben stopped mid-sentence, looking at Jasmine. "Is it possible..."
Ian wasn't trying to please Matthew but had his sights set on Justin.
Jasmine was shocked and ran quickly outside. "Hurry! To the hospital!"
She had to tell Matthew before he passed away that Justin wasn't a Patrick. She couldn't let Justin get tangled up with the Patrick family or their shares, which would only bring chaos to his life.
