Chapter 179 Jasmine Caught in Danger
On their way to the kindergarten, Ethan received a call from the school. He was being informed that someone was making a commotion outside the kindergarten gates, claiming to be Justin's father and Jasmine's boyfriend.
For someone to cause a commotion at school was just asking for trouble.
"Mr. Ethan, what's happened?" Seeing Ethan's grave expression, Jasmine whispered her question.
"It's nothing, I'll take care of it." Without further explanation, Ethan parked the car at the kindergarten's lot.
Jasmine looked bewildered at the besieged entrance of the kindergarten. "What's going on today?"
"It's someone's day to court death," Ethan said as he casually loosened his tie, took off his suit jacket and tossed it in the car, and removed his watch with smooth, stylish movements.
Jasmine gasped, sensing an imminent brawl.
"Mr. Ethan!" Jasmine panicked, hopping out of the car to intercept Ethan.
"Where's Jasmine? I want Jasmine to come see me!" The man continued to shout and bellow.
"What's going on?" As Ethan and Jasmine approached, Erin walked over to inquire, "That guy, do you know him?"
Jasmine shook her head blankly. "Who is he?"
Erin squinted her eyes and stepped forward to block Ethan. "Planning to hit the trending searches with a public display, Mr. CEO of Gu Corporation?"
Ethan's face was somber, and he didn’t utter a word, clearly unconcerned with his image at the moment.
"I'll take care of this." Erin pointed at Jasmine. "Take off your jacket and hand it to me."
Jasmine looked confusedly at Ethan.
After Ethan nodded, she reluctantly passed her jacket to Erin.
Erin tied her hair back, making its length indiscernible from the front.
Slipping into Jasmine's clothes, Erin shouldered through the crowd. "Bro, what's going on?"
Erin ran, shouting for Richard.
"Who are you? I... I've never been with you before?" Erin asked timidly and quietly, her acting on point.
She was channeling Jasmine perfectly.
Even Richard was baffled, wondering what was happening.
The man glanced at Erin, momentarily disoriented. "Jasmine, turning your back on me now? You weren't like this when you were begging me to sleep with you."
Erin's eyes reddened. "I... I don't even know you."
"You say you don't know me? Justin is my son!" The man lunged to grab Erin's wrist.
Richard moved quickly, gripping the man's hand firmly and squeezing hard.
"Jasmine, tell your brother to let go!" the man winced in pain.
Erin sneered, aiming a sharp kick between the man’s legs.
"Ugh..." the man groaned, collapsing to the ground in agony. "Jasmine, you whore..."
"You wish," Erin retorted, delivering another kick. "Which pound let loose a mad dog like you?"
The man looked at Erin in shock, realizing his mistake. "You... you're not Jasmine. Where is she?"
"Huh, I was begging you to sleep with me, and now you don't recognize me?" Erin sneered, stepping on the man's head, and scolding the onlookers who were trying to film the incident. "Get lost, all of you."
The bystanders scattered, startled by Erin.
However, it was clear that she wasn't Jasmine.
Within the crowd, Jasmine hid behind Ethan, her heart skipping nervously. Erin was just too badass for words.
She absolutely loved it.
"Who are you, anyway? After all these years, there's no way I would recognize you at first glance. Where's Jasmine? Have her come see me." The man was still yelling his head off.
With Richard around, the guy couldn't pull any stunts.
Erin laughed. "Your mom's quite the comedian, birthing such a joke like you. Spill it—who sent you here? Come clean, and I might just leave you in one piece."
The man was visibly shaken by Erin, attempting to fight back only to be pinned down by Richard.
"I want to see Jasmine! I want to see Jasmine!" he continued to howl.
Erin signaled to the bodyguard beside her to gag him. "Take him away."
The man started to whimper with fear in that moment.
"It's getting chilly out—bury him a bit deeper so he doesn't catch a cold," Erin said gravely, checking the time. "You have twenty-four hours to find out which mad dog sent him to make a fuss."
The bodyguard nodded and dragged the man away.
"Ah, peace and quiet at last," Erin quipped as she cleaned out her ears.
"Erin... you can't just..." Richard started to protest, but stopped himself. Erin's direct and brutal approach always left him exasperated and it could easily spell trouble.
"Hmm? Can't just what? Did anyone see anything?" Erin turned, addressing the onlookers. "An aggressive psych patient—I had him taken to the psych ward. I'm contributing to society. Did you guys see that? The man's clearly not well, spouting nonsense."
The crowd didn't dare to speak up.
"All right, mommy's here to pick up her child. Let's go," Erin grabbed Richard by the collar and dragged him to the car.
Frowning and helpless, Richard cast one last glance at Jasmine.
Jasmine waved at Richard reassuringly, signaling that she's got Justin's back.
Richard gave Jasmine a stern look, unable to refuse before Erin pulled him into the car.
"Boss, I'm off the clock," Richard said helplessly to Erin, his 'kidnapper'.
"Overtime," Erin shot back, giving no room for refusal.
The car stopped beside Ethan, and Erin returned Jasmine's jacket to her. "Mr. Ethan, did you see everything clearly?"
Ethan took Jasmine's jacket and stood with a dark expression.
It was quite obvious that Jasmine had upset someone, and they were targeting her in this manner.
However, making a scene at the doorstep of a kindergarten made no sense at all.
The only likely reason being that this incident would now reach the ears of Patrick's Family.
Mr. Patrick Sr. would definitely be furious over Jasmine's flirty demeanor, insisting on another paternity test for Justin.
"Mr. Ethan, you owe me a favor," Erin reminded Ethan.
She never let herself be at a loss and expected Ethan to repay the debt in the future.
If she hadn't intervened today, Ethan would have certainly stepped in.
With so many eyes watching, Ethan fighting in the streets, regardless of the reason, would have undoubtedly tarnished his reputation.
"Sure." Ethan nodded.
Erin's lips curved in satisfaction; she had been awaiting Ethan's acknowledgment.
Raising the car window, Erin threw herself into Richard's arms. "I was really scared just now..."
Richard massaged his temples, feeling a headache coming on.
...
"Can you guess who it might be?" Ethan asked.
Jasmine shook her head.
She could guess, but she was afraid to say it out loud.
Ethan's expression was grave, a bad feeling lingering.
Once Mr. Patrick Sr. learned that Justin wasn't a child of the Patrick family, he would surely act.
Mr. Patrick Sr.'s connections, if used against Jasmine, would complicate matters significantly.
The phone rang—it was Liam.
"Mr. Ethan, someone's downstairs at the company to see Jasmine. Claims to be an old college friend and says he used to date Jasmine, insisting that Justin is his son. The guy's name is Connor."
Ethan's fists clenched white with suppressed rage.
Just perfect, one after another they come out of the woodwork.
Those scheming against Jasmine will have the Patrick family to reckon with.
