Chapter 329 Why Is It Always Nolan Who Gets Hurt
Hung up, Jasmine turned around to grab her tablet, giving Nolan an eye roll, instantly halting her tears.
"Are you learning face-changing?" The shock on Nolan's face never disappeared.
Jasmine snorted and turned around to leave, "I don't want to talk to idiots."
Nolan chuckled.
'A fool? How dare you call me a fool! My authority as a CEO was completely undermined.’
'Okay, great, you were getting better and better. Were you going to show off here in a few days?’
'Did you really sue my mother? There's no way she would bother with such trivial matters.
'You are really overestimating yourself.' he brooded.
Glancing at his phone, Nolan was actually quite nervous, afraid that Coco might suddenly call and give him a piece of her mind.
But obviously, Coco didn’t make the call.
One minute, two minutes, five minutes passed, and Coco still hadn't called.
Nolan finally sighed in relief, set down his phone, and earnestly looked at the proposal Jasmine had sent over.
Although he did intentionally prank Jasmine, he had to admit that the project proposal she provided was indeed the best and flawless.
Liberty Tower Plaza, Counseling Office.
Richard and Betty personally pushed Aurora to see a psychologist.
"Hello, Dr. Connor. William introduced us. I am his sister, Betty," Betty said as she reached out her hand to the doctor, and they politely shook hands.
The psychologist's name is Connor, and he works at Everglow Innovations in Hawthorne.
Connor was very handsome, and he was as tall as Richard. He looked gentle and refined, wearing a white coat over his suit and glasses, giving off a nerdy vibe.
In short, He is exceedingly pleasing to the eye.
"William mentioned it before. Please have a seat first. I'll check on the patient." Connor smiled politely at Betty. His expression was quite reserved, with a sense of boundaries that might inexplicably endear him to others.
He must have studied psychology. From microexpressions to body language, everything seemed meticulously planned.
Aurora glanced back at Richard. "Richard, I'm scared."
"Don't worry; we're just here for a simple consultation," Connor said, smiling gently at Aurora.
Aurora’s brows furrowed, she remained silent.
"The doctor is quite skilled." In the lounge area, Betty looked at the promotional photos hanging on the wall, all of them featuring Connor posing with patients.
"He used to be a prison inmate's psychological counselor, this..." Betty looked at a photo, then turned back to Richard in astonishment. "Look! Isn't this Jasmine?"
Richard walked over and glanced at the photo on the wall. In the picture, Jasmine is wearing a hospital gown, with short hair below her ears, and she looks pale and weak, sitting on the hospital bed with bandages wrapped around her wrists, clearly having just attempted suicide.
Richard frowned slightly, clasping his hands tightly.
"It's quite strange," Betty questioned skeptically, "Is it okay to display the patient's privacy like this?"
Richard didn't understand these either.
"Sorry, these photos were put up during our promotional campaign with the patient's consent. They are all patients who have already recovered so that they won't be triggered by them anymore," the young nurse explained with a smile.
Betty nodded. "This is my sister. It seems Dr. Connor is indeed very talented, and Jasmine is doing well now."
The nurse nodded with a smile. "She's a very pretty girl. I have some impression of her. I followed Dr. Connor to see her a few times. Previously, her condition was quite serious. She underwent multiple MECT treatments here. Dr. Connor cared about her the most. I've seen Dr. Connor stay up all night, flipping through materials, just to pull her out of the abyss."
Richard nodded at the young nurse. "So it was Dr. Connor who cured my sister. What a coincidence... Thank you, Dr. Connor."
"No need to be polite. A psychologist must help patients out of the abyss."
Betty nodded. "It seems like this Dr. Connor really knows his stuff. I hope he can influence Aurora's thoughts and make her leave soon."
Betty whispered.
Richard smiled and grabbed Betty's hand. "She didn't have much patience, knowing that there was no possibility between her and I. I didn't give her any chance, and she eventually retreated on her own."
"You seem to know her quite well," Betty sarcastically glanced at Richard.
Richard touched his nose. "I didn't mean that."
"What do you mean by that?"
"I..."
Richard felt that, for the first time, explaining things to his girlfriend was exhausting.
In the Cunningham Group.
Jasmine had just opened the file to continue adjusting and modifying it when Coco walked in with a gloomy expression on his face.
Jasmine was very surprised that Coco actually arrived in just over ten minutes. She thought Coco was just comforting her.
"Jasmine, you're doing a great job," Coco walked up to Jasmine, soothingly rubbed her head, and then rushed into the CEO's office in a flurry.
"Is that our chairman?" the supervisor asked quietly.
"Yeah, I noticed there is something wrong," my colleague discovered the clue.
"Jasmine, what's going on?"
Jasmine shook her head. She dared not speak. She went to the CEO's mother to report him.
Following that, the president's office was filled with a crackling sound.
Jasmine swallowed a gulp of saliva, and she really liked Coco's personality.
“Nolan, you deserve it.”
Jasmine snorted and continued to work on the business proposal.
She read every single word aloud but still felt like there was no issue.
Jasmine became even more confident and decided not to change anymore. If Nolan continued to make things difficult for her, she would say she was going to quit!
After a while, the office door opened, and Nolan stood at the door, glaring at Jasmine with resentment.
Jasmine lay guiltily on the office desk, wishing she could pretend she wasn't here.
"Jasmine, the CEO seems off." The colleague watched as Nolan stormed over in anger.
Jasmine was scared, and she instinctively raised her hand to protect her head. This was a psychological shadow left from being hit in the past.
She thought Nolan was going to hit her.
Half a day had passed, but there had been no movement.
Nolan stood there, looking at Jasmine with a touch of melancholy.
Jasmine took a deep breath and looked up at Nolan. "Nolan? Is there something wrong?"
Nolan hummed.
It took him half a day to speak. "I'm sorry! Your proposal is fine. It's my fault, I was wrong, and I apologize to you!"
Nolan's apology sounded so stiff that it was obvious that he was forced to do it.
Jasmine swallowed nervously. "Did my proposal get approved?"
Nolan gritted his teeth. "Passed. Let's get ready to coordinate with the folks from the Crestwood Development Group!"
Coco also stepped out and glared at Nolan. "Can't you speak nicely?"
"Let's get you in touch with the folks at Crestwood Development Group," Nolan said, slowing down his speech.
Jasmine wanted to laugh. The dominating CEO had his day, too.
"So... you said if I discuss the Crestwood Development Group project, he'll give me a house in downtown Silverlight City. Does that still count?" Jasmine asked with a smile.
She intentionally set up Nolan.
Nolan widened his eyes. "When did I say within the city center..."
The conversation wasn't over yet when Coco's killer gaze came over. "Are you going to break your promise?"
"No! I dug into my pocket to buy you a mansion!" Nolan was about to cry!
