Chapter 560 Zelda Pretends to Be Crazy to Scare Claire

Jasmine hadn't been gone long before Claire's crew rolled up.

Zelda smirked; Jasmine really had Claire pegged.

"Zelda, someone's here to see you," the young nurse said, looking puzzled. "It's kinda weird; you've got a lot of visitors today."

Zelda kept her mouth shut. So many folks coming to see her?

Yeah, right. No one was really here for her.

They all had their own angles.

Soon enough, Claire strolled in from outside.

Zelda grinned and leaned back in her chair. "Well, well, Mrs. Douglas, what brings you here?"

Claire sat down and smiled at Zelda. "Zelda, do you remember where your dad kept the stuff in the safe?"

Zelda just stared at Claire, not saying a word.

"If you tell me, I can do anything for you," Claire said, like she was talking to a kid.

She must've thought Zelda was a total nutcase.

But honestly, Claire looked more ridiculous right now.

"Anything?" Zelda asked, all innocent-like.

"Of course." Claire nodded.

Zelda pretended to think hard. "Then, can you help me kill Annabelle?"

Claire was caught off guard for a sec, then smiled. "Sure."

Obviously, she was trying to play Zelda.

Zelda looked at Claire and spoke again, "Killing someone may cost your life. Have you ever killed anyone?"

Claire's face tightened, but she kept her smile. "Have you?"

"I have. I poisoned them. They all died," Zelda said, acting all crazy.

Claire was now more convinced Zelda was a lunatic. Who would poison their whole family except a mad person?

"Have you killed anyone?" Zelda tilted her head.

Claire smiled. "Yes, I have. Just like you, I used poison, but my methods were more sophisticated."

Zelda stayed quiet, staring at Claire for a long time before speaking, "The person you killed is standing right behind you."

Then, Zelda's eyes went blank as she looked behind Claire. "You're so beautiful. Are you Ethan's mom?"

Claire's face changed instantly, and she jumped up, spinning around fast.

There was nothing there.

"Have you been following her all this time?" Zelda asked the empty air, acting nuts.

"Oh, you want to kill her."

Claire's face went pale with fear, and she bolted, even the documents didn't matter now.

Zelda knew Claire would be back. If she got what she wanted too easily, she'd get suspicious.

"Remember to kill Annabelle for me, and I'll give you the documents," Zelda shouted after Claire.

After Claire left, Zelda clutched her stomach, laughing until it hurt.

Ever since she went a little crazy, she felt more alive.

All of Silverlight City knew Claire killed Ethan's mom, but Ethan just didn't have the proof yet.

At the Douglas Group board meeting, some execs were talking about recent losses and project flops, hinting they needed a better CEO.

Daniel's face was dark; these guys were basically calling him useless.

"Who do you think is up for the job?" Howard asked.

"Ethan's skills are known to everyone."

"Exactly, let Ethan come back and run the show. Sure, Ethan and Howard have their issues, but that's just family drama."

The execs were all about getting Ethan back.

Daniel clenched his fists and sneered. "I've busted my ass since I took over, but no one gives a damn. Instead of whining about management, why don't you all just quit and save us the drama?"

Daniel was fuming.

Howard coughed, giving Daniel the signal to zip it.

Daniel shut up, glaring at his hands, seething.

These folks should all be canned, every last one of them.

"Know your limits. Youngsters shouldn't get too cocky; they need to know their place," someone snorted, eyeing Howard. "Mr. Douglas, Ethan's your son too. When William was alive, he left a will. Those shares are Ethan's."

Howard's face darkened, realizing Ethan was making a comeback.

Getting booted by the Raymond Group left him with no other options.

"I'll consider everyone's opinions and talk to Ethan," Howard nodded, playing along.

He agreed, but it was just a stall tactic.

Howard's attitude only pissed Daniel off more.

Howard never publicly acknowledged his skills, never praised him or had his back.

In his whole life, he'd been stuck in Ethan's shadow, never getting any recognition.

But why?

Daniel clenched his fists tighter, storming out of the meeting while Howard was still talking.

Howard didn't give a damn about Daniel's tantrum. To him, Daniel was just as useless.

Outside the meeting room, Daniel lost it and kicked his office door open.

Frustrated, he trashed the place, looking around the office that used to be Ethan's.

He'd wiped out all traces of Ethan, but it still felt like even the furniture was mocking him.

"What's got you so riled up?" Claire pushed the door open, seeing Daniel in a rage.

Claire knew Daniel must've gotten bullied again in the meeting.

"Don't worry. I've got your back," Claire said confidently, thinking she could get Zelda to spill about the documents.

Once she had the documents, she'd force Howard to hand over the shares to Daniel and use them to help Daniel nail the big project in Silverlight City. Then, let's see what those board members would say about Daniel's skills.

"How can you help me? Dad won't back me or give me the shares. How can those people trust me?" Daniel laughed bitterly, a bit sarcastically. "They even said William left a will! To give the shares to Ethan."

Claire frowned. Ethan was planning a comeback.

"Don't worry. I won't let him win. I have a plan," Claire said confidently, patting Daniel's shoulder. "Don't get too down. In this world, it's better to rely on yourself than anyone else. Instead of waiting for your dad to see your worth and give you the shares, use some tricks to make him hand them over quick."

'To avoid more complications.'

Daniel looked at Claire. "How's that even possible?"

Howard never respected him and would never hand over the shares willingly.

"I'll make it happen Just wait and see." Claire snorted and turned to leave.

She had to rush back to the mental hospital and get Zelda to reveal the location of the documents ASAP.
