Chapter 903 Vincent Always Strikes a Fatal Blow
Rhett's face was twisted with anger, looking incredibly grim.
He gritted his teeth. "I don't even remember how I fell."
Avery poured Rhett a glass of water, holding back a laugh as she handed it to him. "Here, drink this."
Edgar was seething with jealousy. When had Avery ever poured him a glass of water? Even though he knew it was all an act, he was still envious and wanted to wring Rhett's neck.
"It's too cold. What's wrong with you?" Rhett snapped, deliberately scolding Avery as if this would elevate his status in front of everyone.
Avery didn't say a word, silently turning to pour a glass of hot water.
"Here's some hot water," Avery said with a smile as she handed it over.
Rhett took a sip and nearly burned himself, his face turning red as he shivered for a while.
"Avery! Are you trying to scald me to death?" Rhett shouted angrily.
Edgar clenched his teeth, wanting to intervene, but Lyanna held him back.
They had to endure.
Avery just smiled, turning to replace the hot water with warm water.
"I'm not drinking it!" Rhett said angrily.
Avery stood there holding the water, smiling at Rhett without any intention of leaving.
Rhett might not have understood the meaning behind Avery's smile, but Edgar was already feeling a chill down his spine.
"You're thirsty," Avery said, her smile fading.
Rhett froze, feeling an inexplicable chill down his back.
Before Rhett could lose his temper, Avery's smile returned. She grabbed his hair and, in front of everyone, 'gently' forced the water down his throat.
Rhett choked, his face turning red.
"Oh dear, I'm sorry. Your hand is injured, and I've never taken care of anyone before," Avery said innocently.
Edgar's mouth twitched, realizing his worries were unnecessary.
Lyanna's eyes were wide with admiration. Avery was so cool.
Vincent, standing nearby, smirked at Rhett. "Mr. Murray, since you're unwell, let's postpone our collaboration until your hand is better."
Rhett wanted to explode, but with Vincent present, he could only nod. "Fine, let Ms. Taylor from the Powell Corporation handle the follow-up."
The three-way collaboration seemed to be led by Vincent, but, in reality, Rhett and his partner planned to manipulate Vincent, making him an ally against the Raymond Group, Ethan, and the Cunningham family.
"Take care and make sure not to get so... twisted again," Vincent said with a smile, pointing at Rhett's hand.
Rhett suppressed his anger, waiting for Vincent to leave before reverting to his true self. "Avery, what happened to my hand?"
"I don't know. Last night, I thought a thief broke into my room and tried to assault me, so I grabbed a nearby object and hit him. I was afraid the thief would wake up and harm me, so I broke his hand in advance," Avery said innocently.
Rhett was sweating.
"Avery, I'm your husband. Is this how you treat me?" Rhett didn't care if Edgar and Lyanna were present.
"I have a habit of locking my door when I sleep. You came in without saying a word. Is that my fault?" Avery asked coldly.
Rhett felt humiliated. "I'm your husband. Do I need to notify you to enter your room and get into your bed?"
Edgar's face darkened, ready to act.
"Of course, you need to notify me. If you scare me in the middle of the night, I might stab you with a knife," Avery said calmly. Before Rhett could respond, she shoved an apple into his mouth. "Have some fruit."
The apple was too big, and Avery's strength was too great, so it got stuck in Rhett's mouth, dislocating his jaw.
Not only that, but with both hands broken, Rhett couldn't remove the apple, leaving him to mumble and point at his mouth, looking both pitiful and ridiculous.
Avery sat nearby, letting Rhett struggle. "You all don't need to stay. He's fine. You can see he's still full of energy to curse."
Lyanna quickly nodded, avoiding Rhett's threatening gaze. "This is too dangerous. You need to take good care of Rhett."
Edgar nodded as well. "If there's nothing else, we'll leave. Take good care of him."
Edgar pulled Lyanna away, stopping Rhett's assistant at the door.
The assistant was about to enter when Edgar put an arm around his shoulder and pulled him aside. "They have things to discuss. Don't interfere."
The assistant obediently stood at the door, seeing that Rhett hadn't called for him.
"Mr. Murray said not to go in unless he calls for you," Edgar reminded the assistant.
The assistant nodded quickly.
Inside the hospital room, Rhett was on the verge of losing his mind, unable to make a sound or remove the apple, with both hands wrapped up and useless.
"Mm-mm!" Rhett glared at Avery.
Avery calmly peeled an apple, speaking softly. "Why aren't you eating the apple? It's wasteful not to."
Rhett's anger turned to desperation, and he looked at Avery pleadingly.
Avery smiled, getting up to remove the apple.
Rhett's jaw ached, and his dislocated jaw was excruciating.
Avery pressed his head, snapping his jaw back into place.
Rhett held his face, in pain for a long time before he could speak, and glared at Avery. "Avery! Are you crazy?"
Avery picked up the apple from the table, causing Rhett to flinch.
Avery smiled. "What's wrong? Why are you suddenly angry? Don't you like apples?"
Rhett glared at Avery. "You did it on purpose, didn't you?"
Avery remained clueless. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Rhett gritted his teeth, vowing to teach Avery a lesson once his hands healed.
At Sunshine Restaurant, the night was perfect, and Vincent sat lazily by the window, blending seamlessly with the night outside, creating a beautiful picture.
Lily walked in, wearing high heels and a slip dress. The confidence she once lacked due to poverty was now bolstered by wealth and power.
"Mr. Hamilton," Lily greeted warmly and sat across from Vincent.
Vincent perfectly fit Lily's aesthetic and criteria for a partner. She desired powerful individuals at her disposal.
If Vincent could treat her like Ethan treated Jasmine, she wouldn't be alone.
Vincent looked at Lily, smiling.
He seemed to see right through her.
"Ms. Taylor, you know Rhett is hospitalized, right?" Vincent began.
Lily nodded. "I heard that he slipped in the shower."
Vincent just smiled.
"The Cunningham family is a major competitor for the Silverlight City project. While our three families working together increases our chances, the profit margin would be..." Vincent said meaningfully.
Lily's eyes lit up, understanding Vincent's implication.
Vincent wanted to collaborate with her, excluding the Murray family?
"The Murray family is a good partner, but I think... I'm more suited to work with you, Ms. Taylor. For starters... I'm single," Vincent said slyly.
He always knew how to hit the mark and then deliver a fatal blow.
