Chapter 377 Mrs. Everhart Busy Snatching Children

Evelina put down her coffee cup, stood up, and looked gently at Alex. "Poor Karen."
"She didn't find a good husband. Benjamin has many mistresses and many illegitimate children. The child raised for twenty-one years is not her; The child returned is not her either. Isn't this a joke?"
Evelina smiled faintly. "Do you think she did something to anger God? Is this her punishment?"
Alex frowned. "Evelina, you're not usually so harsh."
"Alex, after so many years of marriage, you still don't understand me." Evelina leaned back on the sofa and shrugged. "Initially, it was you who said to give the project to Annabelle; even if it was to repay Karen's past kindness, there would be no more ties in the future."
"Evelina, this situation is special; I..." Alex also wanted to ask Karen if Evan was his son.
Why did she lie to him initially, saying she had aborted the child?
"A special situation." Evelina laughed. "Don't blame me either. If you choose to go to Silverlight City to see Karen today, our relationship ends here."
She wasn't joking with Alex.
Initially, Evelina risked her life to have a child for Alex, but she couldn't keep the child, couldn't keep her uterus, and almost lost her life.
She couldn't be so magnanimous to accept another woman giving birth to Alex's child, even if it happened before her .
"Evelina." Alex stepped forward quickly, coaxing Evelina. "Evelina, you've always been obedient these years, and you've been most understanding of me. You know I have no feelings for Karen, I just want to clarify things, and perhaps help Karen out for the sake of our past relationship."
"If Evan is your son?" Evelina asked, "Are you going to bring him back to our home and let him inherit everything we've built together? Why?"
Alex hesitated for a moment, not saying anything.
Clearly, he agreed.
His son wouldn't let him stay with that bastard Benjamin.
Evelina found her answer in Alex's eyes, responded with a smile, and gently brushed his hand away. "Evelina, let me clarify things and explain to you when I come back. It might just be a farce. I'm just going to find out, okay?" Alex looked nervously at Evelina, hoping she would understand him.
"In the past, Cordelia told me that without marriage, one can only wait for death alone, but with marriage, one can look forward to the other's death. The days of anticipation are different." Evelina joked half-heartedly.
She couldn't understand it before, but suddenly she did.
"Evelina, don't say things in anger. After all these years, don't you understand me?" Alex sighed, "I'm starting not to understand you." Evelina stepped back again.
Alex glanced at her . "I'll be back soon."
He thought that when he came back, he would comfort Evelina, and things would work out.
Their years together had painted them as the perfect couple; it seemed inconceivable they could reach an irreparable breaking point. As for divorce, he hadn't even thought about it.
Evelina didn't make a scene; she just watched Alex leave.
"Mrs. Everhart." the maid approached.
"Book me a flight to Silverlight City tonight." Evelina turned around and called Cordelia.
"Why do you have time to call me?" Cordelia actually guessed that the scandals caused by the Wilson family might affect the Everhart family.
After all, Karen was Alex's first love.
If Evan wasn't Benjamin's son, who could he be?
"Alex went to Silverlight City," Evelina said lightly,
"Are you sad?" Cordelia asked, "Evelina, a happy marriage of more than twenty years is a gain. Don't be too greedy. If it's time to divorce, just do it."
"You're talking nonsense here. You have so many children; what are you afraid of?" Evelina's voice was hoarse.
"Didn't we agree that my daughter and I would raise together?" Cordelia sighed.
"Annabelle? I prefer simple people. She is obviously someone who has been led astray." Evelina had no good feelings towards Annabelle.
"Do you like Jasmine?" Cordelia asked,
"Speaking ofher, I have a connection with her. If it weren't for the miscarriage and hysterectomy back then, I would have doubted if she was my daughter." Evelina choked up.
"Jasmine is your daughter, let's raise her together," Cordelia said meaningfully.
Evelina paused and stopped in her tracks. "What kind of joke are you playing on me?"
Evelina was the one who understood Cordelia the most.
"I have an enemy here who is harder to deal with than Karen." Cordelia sneered.
Sophia was not an easy opponent.
"So you knew Annabelle was a fake from the beginning?" Evelina laughed, suddenly feeling a lot lighter in her heart.
Jasmine was really Cordelia's daughter.
Evelina wouldn't be polite about this; she had to compete!
Cordelia already had three sons and couldn't compete for the heiress with her.
Evelina wouldn't allow Alex to give her things to Karen's son.
"Hit the enemy where it hurts, strike to kill," Cordelia said coldly,
"Are you planning to confront Sophia head-on?" Evelina was worried; Cordelia wasn't a match for Sophia.
"What I'm most worried about is Sophia going after my daughter and not giving up the shares in William's hands. Now that I can deliberately fall into her trap, I'll have to thank Sophia afterward!" Cordelia sneered.
If she had acknowledged Jasmine from the start, Sophia would undoubtedly have done everything in her power to prevent William from relinquishing his shares.
She didn't care about William's life or death, but the shares had to go to Jasmine!
"Shall I help you then?" Evelina said mischievously.
"Are you being so kind?" Cordelia didn't believe it.
Evelina must have had her own motives.
"Who was it who said your daughter was to be raised by me?" Evelina began to snatch openly.
"I haven't had enough fun yet." Cordelia refused.
"Then it's every man for himself." Evelina laughed and hung up, preparing to fly to Silverlight City.
This time, she wouldn't come back.
Let Alex, his son, and his old flame live together!
She was busy now; she had to snatch the child.

Silverlight City.
Ethan's company.
Jasmine had been sneezing, maybe catching a cold.
"After this incident, the Wilson family has become famous," Richard came to the company and said helplessly,
"Richard, do you think I'm too ruthless?" Jasmine asked softly,
"I only know that this world has its own rules. When they did us wrong, they left us no way out. Now, anything we do isn't considered heartless." Richard sat beside Jasmine.
"Richard, you and Betty have been together for a long time; you speak so politely now." Jasmine was looking at Richard with bright eyes
Richard tapped Jasmine's head. "Do you think I am impolite?"
"It's not that; you are very smart." Jasmine smiled, leaning on Richard's shoulder. "Richard, how are you and Betty doing lately? Have you been arguing?"
"I dare not," Richard sighed.
Jasmine laughed, looking a bit worried at Ethan, who was still busy working. "Ethan, I'm a bit worried. What if Evan isn't Benjamin's child, but A..."
She didn't say that name, propping her head up. "Mrs. Everhart, she's so pitiful."
