Chapter 798 Amelia Really Hates Nolan
"Nathaniel is still in Sunrise City, if I want to make a move on him..." Nolan instinctively uttered the threat.
He didn't actually want to do this, but in the business world, when weighing pros and cons and negotiating, he always liked to hold the leverage over the other party, which made negotiations and deals go more smoothly.
It had almost become a habit for him to instinctively threaten Amelia.
But after saying it, he regretted it.
Amelia put down the folder in her hand, her eyes reddening, and looked at Nolan with hatred. "What exactly do you want?"
"Come out with me," Nolan said, somewhat lacking confidence.
"Fine," Amelia nodded, turned around, and left, not wanting to see him.
Nolan wanted to apologize, but the words stuck in his throat.
In the evening.
After finishing her work, Amelia handed over the front desk duties to an employee and walked out of the yard.
Nolan was leaning against the car door. When he saw Amelia coming out, he instinctively opened the car door for her.
He was a bit stunned himself.
Amelia ignored him and opened the back door.
"Sit in the front," Nolan frowned.
Amelia ignored him.
Nolan couldn't do anything about her and didn't want to continue threatening her, so he could only drive her to the club.
"I told you, Nathaniel is not a good person. He's not as great as you think. These celebrities are just a product of packaging, their real lives are a mess." Nolan wanted Amelia to understand that celebrities are just a product of packaging.
But Amelia remained silent, not saying a word.
The once cheerful, innocent, and lively Amelia seemed to be gone.
In her most innocent and radiant years, no one protected her.
She thought meeting Nolan was her luck.
But when things went wrong at home, and all the misfortunes piled up, Nolan became the last person to disappoint her.
The car stopped outside the club, and Nolan got out to open the car door for her.
Amelia got out of the car and looked at him. "Why did you bring me here? What do you want to do?"
"To show you what kind of person Nathaniel really is," Nolan walked ahead, signaling Amelia to follow.
She was just worried that Nolan had done something to Nathaniel, so she followed.
The club was membership-based, and ordinary people couldn't get in, but with Nolan, they were, of course, warmly welcomed.
He took Amelia to a private room, where it was full of rich people, chaotic and even obscene.
Nathaniel, in the entertainment circle, wanted resources and a stable position, so the company would definitely make him come out to drink. This seemed to have become an unwritten rule.
Even though Nathaniel had a certain status in the entertainment industry today, in front of these tycoons, he seemed worthless.
Standing at the door, Amelia still saw Nathaniel, who was out of place among the crowd.
He didn't like such occasions, even loathed them, but he still had to drink the wine handed to him by others.
This was the difference between Nathaniel and Nolan.
Amelia thought Nolan brought her here to show her the difference between the two.
Well, Nathaniel was an ordinary person, and in front of capital, he would always be an ordinary person.
What was Nolan? He was capital.
A rich woman was forcing Nathaniel to drink, almost pressing herself against him.
The scene was as chaotic as it could get.
"Is this interesting?" Amelia asked.
Nolan opened his mouth but couldn't say a word.
Amelia's eyes reddened, and she turned to leave.
Nathaniel had said more than once that he wanted to quit the industry, but Nolan had forced him to sign a contract and renew it.
He clearly didn't like such filth and chaos, but capital like Nolan always had the power to push him to the brink.
"Amelia!" Nolan chased after her, grabbing her wrist.
When Amelia turned back, her face was already wet with tears.
Nolan's heart ached, and his breathing became rapid.
He never thought he would feel heartache for Amelia. "You saw it too. Nathaniel is not a good person. He knew the situation and still came. He's inherently dirty."
For Nolan, as capital, he couldn't see the helplessness of ordinary people. He only thought everyone was willing, who could give up their dignity for money.
"Nolan, you have a good background, given to you by your parents, not earned by yourself. Do you know how hard it is to survive in the entertainment industry? Do you have any idea how hard Nathaniel has worked to get where he is today? Do you think that a casual comment like 'he's dirty, not a good person' can destroy all his efforts and sacrifices?" Amelia cried. For the first time, she directly felt the power of capital.
Ordinary people, no matter how well they do, what did it matter?
"I'm not," Nolan frowned. It wasn't him who did it.
It was Nathaniel who couldn't resist the temptation.
"You're disgusting," Amelia shook off Nolan's arm and spoke again. "Nathaniel and I are the same kind of people. We're both dirty. We both lower our stance for so-called money and benefits, even sleep with you. So, we're dirty. Please stay away, okay?"
Nolan's heart ached terribly, and for a moment, he was speechless.
Amelia had once offered herself to him for help.
What he said undoubtedly also hurt Amelia.
"I didn't mean that. You're different from him. I..." Nolan wanted to explain.
But Amelia didn't give him a chance to speak.
She walked out of the club, and hailed a taxi by the roadside.
Nolan drove after her, following all the way.
He didn't understand what he was doing.
Amelia was already married and pregnant with Nathaniel's child.
He really should let go.
"Mr. Cunningham, Nathaniel refused to drink with the rich people over there, offended Bruce, and Bruce is throwing a fit. I think he's in trouble today," the assistant called.
Bruce was a big shot in Sunrise City.
Nathaniel clearly wouldn't end well.
It was obvious that the rich woman had forced Nathaniel to do something inappropriate, and Nathaniel refused.
Nolan rubbed his temples and spoke in a low voice. "Got it."
He hung up and called Bruce.
"Oh, Mr. Cunningham, what a surprise to get a call from you," Bruce answered with a smile. There was still some noise on his end, indicating the matter wasn't over.
"Is Nathaniel with you?" Nolan frowned.
At the club, Bruce fell silent, signaling his people to release Nathaniel.
"Yes, is he your man, Mr. Cunningham?" Bruce asked tentatively, moving aside.
"He was arrogant and rude on my turf today, even spilled wine all over my sister. He is ungrateful, disrespectful," Bruce spoke in a low voice.
Nolan's voice was also low. "Mr. Simmons, we're all businessmen. There's no need to hurt our relationship over trivial matters. Nathaniel is my man."
Bruce squinted, looking back at Nathaniel.
This was meaningful. Nolan was famously clean in the upper circles, still single. Could it be he liked men?
Realizing this, Bruce laughed. "Mr. Cunningham, you should have said so earlier. This is just a misunderstanding among our own people."
Homosexual was not uncommon in the upper circles. "My sister was also at fault. I'll teach her a lesson."
"When you have time, come to Silverlight City. I'll treat you," Nolan said politely.
After hanging up, he fell silent.
For Amelia, was he now even meddling in such trivial matters?
