Chapter 839 Amelia's Emotions Are Very Unstable During Pregnancy

Nolan's gaze darkened as he looked at Amelia.

He was waiting for her to explain.

"He took Lucas and my mom, saying my mom owed him money. If she didn't pay, he'd sell my mom and Lucas to Aurora Peninsula!" Amelia pointed at Louis and shouted. "Nolan, arrest him! He's involved in human trafficking."

Nolan seemed unprepared for this outcome. He was stunned for a moment, then immediately pinned Louis against the wall.

Louis was bewildered, this wasn't what he had expected.

From what he knew about Amelia, she was soft-hearted and afraid of causing trouble. She should be scared out of her wits right now, but she actually dared to tell Nolan.

Louis glared at Amelia with anger. "You bitch! You think you're safe because of Nolan? Don't forget your mom is in my hands!"

Amelia glared at Louis, grabbed a kitchen knife from the side, and was about to attack. "You bastard! You think I'm a fool?"

Nolan was startled and quickly hugged Amelia. She couldn't really go through with it.

Amelia was shaking with anger. "Don't stop me, I'm going to kill him."

After struggling for a while, Amelia started crying out of anger.

Everyone was bullying her.

Did they really think she was easy to bully?

"I'm telling you, I'm not afraid of anything now. If you dare to keep bullying me, I'll kill you. I'm pregnant, so I won't get the death penalty. Try me if you don't believe it," Amelia said while crying, using the most pitiful stance to say the most terrifying words.

Nolan felt a chill down his spine. It seemed Amelia was really not to be messed with.

Louis was also scared. Had Amelia gone mad?

An employee rushed out to pin down Louis and quickly tried to calm Amelia. "Amelia, put the knife down. Don't hurt yourself. What's going on here?"

Nolan gave Louis a cold look. "Call the police."

The employee quickly took out his phone to call the police.

Amelia sniffled. "Whoever owes you money, go find them. If you come after me again, I'll kill you!"

Louis gritted his teeth and glared at her.

Her eyes were red, and she looked like she was about to rush over and kill him.

If Nolan wasn't holding her, she probably would have.

The police arrived and took Louis away.

But without evidence, Louis would surely find a way to make sure Lucas and Caitlyn didn't press charges, so calling the police was just a temporary lesson for Louis.

After Louis was taken away, the place quieted down.

Amelia was still crying. She felt like she might be prone to excessive tearfulness, as soon as she felt wronged or emotionally stirred, she couldn't help but cry.

Nolan explained the situation to the police and then came back to comfort her.

But she ignored him. She now felt that men were bad luck, always bringing her trouble.

Nolan was amused by her current state. He had always found her cute but hadn't cherished her properly before.

"Don't be mad. From now on, I'll take you wherever I go and protect you," Nolan said softly.

"Go away!" Amelia turned her head angrily. "It's all your fault!"

Nolan felt wronged. How was it his fault? He hadn't done anything.

"It's my fault. I shouldn't have gone to get you ice cream," Nolan said, holding up the ice cream.

Amelia calmed down a bit, and she remembered she wanted ice cream.

She reached out to grab the ice cream, planning to eat, but found it had melted. Amelia got even angrier and started crying again.

Nolan hadn't expected this and quickly hugged her tightly. "I'll go get another one right away."

"Louis will definitely come back to cause trouble," Amelia said, clutching Nolan's shirt. "Don't leave."

With Nolan around, she felt a bit safer.

Amelia admitted she hadn't been good to Nolan, thinking he would leave once he got tired of her. But he had been so patient, making her rely on him again.

She felt she was quite useless.

"Is the baby his?" Nolan asked softly. He hadn't wanted to ask, but if the baby was Louis's and he came to fight for custody, he needed to be prepared.

Amelia looked at Nolan, angry again. "What do you take me for? I wouldn't be with him even if I had sex with a beggar on the street!"

Seeing Amelia angry again, Nolan quickly picked her up and smiled, coaxing her softly. "Yes, I'm the beggar on the street, and you had sex with me."

Amelia was so annoyed by Nolan's words that she didn't know how to scold him, so she bit his neck.

He didn't ask who the baby's father was anymore. As long as it wasn't Louis, he didn't need to show Louis any mercy.

Silverlight City, the Cunningham Group.

Edward received a message from Nolan after finishing a meeting, asking about the current situation with the Wallace Group.

"The Wallace Group? I heard they were reported for issues with project funds and are under investigation," Edward called back. "Why are you suddenly asking about the Wallace Group?"

"Recently, the Wallace family has been too idle, coming to Sunrise City to harass my wife," Nolan said in a low voice. "I'm just venting to you, not asking for your help."

After a brief silence, Nolan spoke again. "Don't act on your own."

Edward smirked. "Nolan, you are being strictly controlled by your wife."

"You don't understand. This is called romance," Nolan boasted. "My wife doesn't let me use family connections. I want to experience being penniless and kept."

Edward took a deep breath. "Nolan, you're quite the player. Can your body handle it? Don't let it affect..."

Halfway through his sentence, he quickly changed the topic. "Nolan, you guys have fun. Don't worry about anything else."

Leave it to him.

On the other end, Nolan raised an eyebrow and hung up with a smirk.

Edward was the smartest person in their family. He trusted him.

He hadn't used the Cunningham family's connections, but if Edward acted on his own, he wouldn't interfere.

Meanwhile, Edward left his office, thinking about finishing his work and sneaking off to see Hestia.

His relationship with Hestia had been progressing steadily, but there hadn't been a significant breakthrough.

Edward was anxious but didn't want to bu rush, fearing he might scare her away.

Since seeing Ethan at the restaurant yesterday, Hestia had been in high spirits, which made him quite jealous.

Legal Department.

Hestia handed a project to Marlon. "Marlon, take a look at this. There seems to be a loophole. We need to address it and suggest adding a disclaimer."

Marlon examined it carefully and nodded with a smile. "You did a great job. I'll take it up for review. It's impressive you caught something the other teams missed. This is a great contribution."

Hestia sighed in relief and shook her head with a smile. "Not at all. I just didn't want any oversights that could cause losses for the company."

Marlon nodded. "As employees, we must prioritize the company's interests."

Hestia nodded cautiously.

After Marlon returned to the office, Primrose suddenly threw her pen down with a snap. "Trying to show off, aren't you?"

She stood up, glaring at Hestia angrily.

Hestia adjusted her glasses and sighed.

She knew this would offend her colleagues, but the contract was up for review soon, and she didn't have time to address it quietly.

If she had sneaked into Marlon's office to discuss it and then made the changes secretly, the contract would have already gone through the process, and it would be too late to amend it. She had no choice.

"Everyone, take a look at how despicable Hestia is. We all worked several nights in a row to finish the project, and now she takes the credit. All the praise goes to her, and all the blame falls on us." Primrose said angrily, trying to stir up trouble.
