Chapter 630 Is Daniel Not a Child of the Douglas Family
"Mark didn't just start plotting against the Douglas family recently. Howard's his target, but Mark doesn't have that kind of power. Who put him and Claire next to Howard over twenty years ago and planned this whole thing?" Jasmine frowned.
"Could it be that Ethan's mom's death, Howard's mistress, Bradley, and everything else aren't as simple as they seem?" Ben quietly suggested.
Jasmine took a deep breath and looked at Ben, his words hitting her hard.
Thinking back, over twenty years ago, Mark and Claire were placed by Howard's side. Not long after, Ethan's mom was killed, and soon, all the shares and control of the Douglas Group fell into Howard's hands.
Howard became the real boss of the Douglas Group.
Not long after, Howard had Bradley.
Later, Ethan got involved in running the company, and under his leadership, the Douglas Group hit its peak. Then, Ethan got kicked out, and Howard got into trouble.
Bradley came back and got Howard's shares.
"Bradley." Jasmine stopped and looked at Ben. "The one benefiting now is Bradley."
"Bradley's too young, and his mom's dead. He's just a pawn, not the mastermind." Ben shook his head. "I think Bradley's just a fluke. The real player behind this wants to use Daniel."
The person behind all this plans to use Daniel to take over the Douglas Group.
But now, it seemed Jasmine had thrown a wrench in the plan.
"No wonder Mark couldn't stay calm." Jasmine sneered. "Now Bradley's got the upper hand."
"Howard might've realized someone was plotting against him. He's not a simple guy. Howard protected Bradley and his mom well." Ben found out that Howard loved Leah so much but never married her to keep her and Bradley safe.
"Such a cold-blooded guy actually had real feelings." Jasmine found it laughable.
"Howard got played, hurting Ethan, and in turn, hurting himself." Ben sighed.
Jasmine mocked weakly. "Because Howard feared Ethan. He was scared that with Ethan around, his precious son Bradley would be wiped out because he didn't understand Ethan at all."
Howard thought Ethan was just like him, cold-blooded and ruthless.
But he didn't know that Ethan would risk his life to save Lisa's son.
Downstairs, Mark waited in the lounge area, looking rough.
Jasmine walked over and sat across from Mark. "What's up?"
Mark looked at Jasmine, his eyes sizing her up, probably not expecting her to be so tough even after what happened to Ethan.
"Six years ago, when you were locked up, Karen was behind everything. Daniel was clueless. He always thought you betrayed him. He loved you so much that he held a grudge." Mark nervously began, his face still bruised.
Jasmine sneered. Was he here to speak for Daniel?
Did he think Daniel could still be saved?
"Mark, you're a bit too worried about Daniel. You and Claire are having an affair in public. Being so concerned makes people suspect Daniel is your son," Jasmine said coldly.
Mark was momentarily speechless, lowering his head as if making a final struggle. "While you were locked up, Daniel was trying to find ways to get you out."
"Really? Wasn't he the one who arranged special treatment for me inside?" Jasmine rolled up her sleeve, revealing scars on her wrist. "What do you think?"
Mark opened his mouth, wanting to defend Daniel.
"If it wasn't Daniel, who had the power to give me such special treatment inside?" Jasmine lowered her voice, staring at Mark.
Mark cared so much about Daniel. Whether Daniel was Howard's son was indeed questionable.
Mark lowered his head, staying silent for a long time.
"This time, Daniel confessed voluntarily. He made a mistake and has to pay the price. He has to go to prison." Jasmine wanted to test Mark. "Not just Daniel, but also Lisa and Casey. I won't let them go."
"At that time, the way they treated me and my son, I will return it a hundredfold or even a thousandfold. Mark, show me your skills and see if you can protect them." Jasmine's eyes were filled with intense hatred.
Mark took a deep breath, his fingers slowly clenching, holding back for a long time without speaking.
"If you have any grievances, direct them at me. I arranged everything back then." Mark wanted Jasmine to spare Daniel.
Once Daniel went to prison, he would be abandoned.
"Do you deserve it?" Jasmine leaned back in her chair, sneering. "It seems you came to see me today without sincerity."
Not wanting to waste more words, Jasmine only wanted to know who was behind the schemes.
She glanced at Mark and then turned to leave. "Come see me when you figure it out, but I can't guarantee Lisa, Casey, and Daniel will survive until then."
"Jasmine! Jasmine!" Mark nervously stood up, wanting to chase after Jasmine.
Jasmine glanced at Tom, who smartly stepped forward to block Mark. "What are you doing? She's already gone."
"Jasmine, did he say anything?" Ben followed, protecting Jasmine as she got into the car.
Jasmine shook her head. "Not yet."
"Lisa has agreed to cooperate." Ben checked the time. "Her hair has been sent for testing. She might not really be a Douglas."
Ben also suspected that Daniel and Lisa were not Howard's children.
Otherwise, no matter how ruthless Howard was, he wouldn't leave Daniel without any face or shares in the Douglas Group.
"This Mark is a key figure. He must know a lot," Jasmine pondered for a moment before speaking again. "Get Lisa to cooperate. Kidnap her and Casey to force Mark."
Everyone had their vulnerabilities.
Lisa and Daniel should be Mark's vulnerabilities.
Otherwise, why would Mark let Claire flaunt her power over him for so many years?
"Okay." Ben nodded. "Mr. Russell is waiting for you at the Raymond Group. You should be prepared for Mr. Douglas's situation."
Brandon wouldn't let Jasmine see Ethan at this time; she wouldn't be able to handle it.
But Jasmine should know what happened to Ethan that night.
"Do you trust Bradley?" Jasmine looked at Ben.
Ben, being experienced, surely knew. "Bradley won't betray us for now because he's not fully fledged, but Daniel has been abandoned. I'm afraid the person behind this will target Bradley."
Daniel became a discard, and the person behind would surely target Bradley.
Jasmine nodded, thinking the same as Ben.
"We'd better be careful. Keep an eye on Bradley." Jasmine clenched her fists.
"There's one more thing, possibly related to the person behind the schemes. Someone has set up a big plan." Ben looked at Jasmine. "Mr. Patrick had secretly asked me to investigate the Harper family before."
