Chapter 411 The Villains Also Reached an Agreement
At the Capital Hospital.
In the hospital room, Karen angrily scolded Evan, "You're such an idiot. You're too stupid. Alex is more powerful than Benjamin. I gave you a chance, and you didn't seize it!"
Evan leaned against the wall, saying nothing.
"Evan, Alex's company, shares, and business will ultimately be yours. He and Evelina have no children; he won't give it to someone unrelated by blood. You're so naive," Karen said, clearly displeased with him. "I gave birth to you, so you have to listen to me. You need to ask Alex for shares. With you around, he won't let us suffer."
"As for that scoundrel Benjamin, whoever he wants to be with is none of our concern."
"I've already hired a lawyer and a private investigator. I have ample evidence to prove Benjamin's infidelity and bigamy. He has a family and children with another woman. I must send him to jail," Karen said angrily.
Karen wanted everything about the Wilson family, everything about Alex's.
"You want everything good in this world." Evan laughed a bit sarcastically. "I never realized you were so selfish."
Evan shook his head and spoke again, "For so many years, I've been deceived by you, living according to your wishes. I almost have no selfhood."
"What selfhood do you want? You don't need a selfhood. You're my son, so of course, you have to listen to me!" Karen couldn't believe what Evan was saying.
"In your eyes, I'm not a person. I shouldn't think independently; I should be someone you control." Evan stood up straight. "I wish I had been the one switched at birth. I don't want to be your son for even a second."
Evan's eyes reddened as he looked at Karen and spoke again, "I won't take a single share of Alex's. It's the result of his and Evelina's hard work over decades. It shouldn't go to me; the beneficiaries shouldn't be you and me."
"Evan!" Karen screamed his name, losing control. "Are you crazy? He's your father. His things should rightfully be yours."
"Get some rest." Evan felt suffocated and got up to leave.
"I'm telling you, if you don't want anything, I'll die right in front of you," Karen shouted.
Evan stopped but didn't turn around. He already felt like Karen was driving him to the brink of death.
He was desperately trying to escape but couldn't.
In such a short distance, he couldn't breathe.
He was severely sleep-deprived. Whenever he closed his eyes, his mind was filled with Jasmine.
He was full of regret. He hated himself deeply.
He didn't know where to escape to find an end.
"I'll call your father right now and have him come over. You're his son. I gave birth to his son and raised you. He owes me!" Karen frantically called Alex.
Alex didn't answer.
Karen went mad and smashed her phone.
"You call him! You call! If you don't call him, I'll die right in front of you!" Karen screamed hysterically.
"Fine." Evan took out his phone. "I'll call."
Only then did Karen calm down.
Evan felt his fingers go numb as he dialed Alex's number. "Mr. Everhart, where are you?"
"Evan, I'm outside." Alex was still waiting outside Cordelia's house for Evelina.
"Let's meet and talk." Evan's voice was hoarse.
"Alright, name a place," Alex agreed.
"Right now, let's go to Flavor Dance Eatery. I'll book a room," Evan said numbly.
"Okay."
After hanging up, Evan turned to look at Karen. "Are you satisfied now?"
Karen finally smiled and leaned against the headboard. "You need to communicate more with Alex and strengthen the father-son bond. He and Evelina have no children. We will definitely win."
Evan looked at Karen with a complicated expression.
"You plan to divorce Benjamin and marry Alex. You want to ruin Alex and Mrs. Everhart's relationship," Evan said.
Karen sneered. "There was never any real affection. Benjamin and I have been together for over twenty years, and all we had was calculation, no feelings. He and Evelina have no feelings either. I was the first woman Alex ever loved, the one he can never forget. Besides, I gave him a son."
Evan felt his throat burning; he opened his mouth but couldn't say a word.
At that moment, he realized how much parents' thoughts could influence their children.
He was truly grateful that Jasmine left the Wilson family at twenty-one. She wasn't influenced by Karen when forming her views on marriage and values.
"I suddenly felt that Jasmine was very lucky," Evan said with a sarcastic smile, then turned and left.
"What are you talking about?" Karen was still shouting.
But Evan was already gone.
Karen looked determined.
Evelina, that high-and-mighty woman overly protected by Alex, would be easy to deal with.
Forcing Evelina and Alex to divorce wouldn't be difficult.
"How are you feeling, Auntie Karen?" As soon as Evan left, Annabelle came in with a bouquet of flowers, smiling as she asked.
Karen squinted at Annabelle. "What are you doing here?"
"Daniel's father is in the hospital, still in surgery, so I thought I'd drop by to see you." Annabelle placed the flowers on the table and smiled again. "I heard that Evan is Mr. Everhart's son?"
"Just say what you want to say," Karen said, feeling quite proud.
"You really are a smart and successful woman." At that moment, Annabelle truly looked at Karen with newfound respect. "Benjamin's infidelity and the scandal of his illegitimate child have caused quite a stir. Right now, you're seen as an innocent victim online, and public opinion is on your side."
"This way, in the divorce case, Benjamin is likely to leave with nothing and might even go to jail for bigamy. The shares of the Wilson family will fall to Evan and your yet-to-be-found biological daughter, as Evan is the son with a factual upbringing relationship."
Karen raised an eyebrow but said nothing.
"You've been planning for over twenty years, never intending to lose." Annabelle clapped her hands. "I used to think you weren't smart, maybe even a bit foolish, but I was wrong. You truly have both luck and skill."
Annabelle used to think Karen was an idiot.
Now, it seemed that those considered top hunters could also become the prey or target of others.
Karen was someone who knew how to exploit others' weaknesses. She was even smarter than Sophia.
No, Karen and Sophia were the same kind of people.
"You didn't come here just to flatter me," Karen said, looking at Annabelle.
"I want to introduce someone to you." Annabelle smiled. "Auntie Karen, we are the same kind of people. Women need to help each other. Only by uniting can we maximize our interests. After all, three ordinary people united can surpass one exceptionally wise person. And we are all smart enough."
Outside the door, Sophia walked in.
Annabelle smiled and introduced her. "This is Sophia, Mr. Cunningham's wife."
The three of them together would be hard to defeat.
This was something those people around Jasmine couldn't even compare to.
Annabelle smirked and spoke again, "Auntie Karen, as long as we join forces, not just the Cunningham family, the Everhart family, or the Wilson family, we can get whatever we want."
