Chapter 259 Daniel regrets seeking reconciliation with Wilson.
Harry, despite his good education, did not excel academically. In the end, he ended up attending a typical college. Given the education requirements of the Harper Group for its executives, Harry, despite his efforts and capabilities, was unable to obtain his current position. He has been in this position for more than a year or two, and his colleagues in the company have complaints. They privately speculate that Harry has connections with the Harper Family.
Cordelia's expression became increasingly grim. "The Harper Family took a huge risk by having Annabelle pretend to be my child."
"Moreover, Harry had his own bank card when he was in his teens. He has had the same bank card for many years, and there is a regular overseas remittance each year," Edward's voice was low. "Mom, you might be right in your guess. Since my sister's disappearance, every step may have been manipulated by someone."
Cordelia took a deep breath and clenched her fists slowly. Even though she had been mentally prepared, she was enraged and speechless. She thought to herself, 'Whoever dares to take away my child, I will never forgive them.'
"Don't alert them. The Harper Family and that person must be connected. Let's wait for them to reveal their flaws," Cordelia's voice trembled with anger. It has been over twenty years since they separated her from her daughter, and she had been tormented by nightmares. She vowed to find out the truth and expose the people behind it. She would not let those involved in this matter go unpunished.
"Mom, should we continue searching for my sister?" Edward felt sorry for his mother. At the same time, he worried about his biological sister.
"Not for now," Cordelia nodded. "Don't reveal the secret, don't let the Harper Family discover it." She felt that in Silverlight City, there were not many people she could trust anymore.
Cordelia knew very well that if there were no secret obstacles, with the Cunningham Family's influence in Silverlight City, she would not have been unable to find her biological daughter for so many years. Cordelia felt that the Harper Family had pushed them into a dead-end. She worried that if she really found a clue about her daughter, these people would harm her.
"I liked Wilson the first time I met her. Seeing her made me feel comfortable. Edward, find a time to do a paternity test with Wilson, avoiding the attention of the Harper Family," Cordelia still believed that Wilson resembled her daughter more. Because Cordelia always felt that Wilson looked a lot like her younger self.
But she dared not do a paternity test publicly anymore, afraid of scaring Wilson and afraid of being disappointed again.
"Mum, since The Harper Family dares to impersonate us, they must be fully prepared. I need to go to Morepav first to investigate the source of that remittance and find out the person behind it. I'll be back," Edward reassured Cordelia. He didn't want his mother to be disappointed too many times in a short period.
Edward hoped Cordelia would maintain her anticipation and enthusiasm for the future.
With teary eyes, Cordelia nodded. What she feared the most now was that her daughter had already died a long time ago.
"Mum, until the results come out, no matter how much you like Wilson, you can't show too much affection to her in front of Annabelle. You have to restrain yourself," Edward feared Annabelle would retaliate against Wilson.
Cordelia nodded. "I understand, I understand."
"Mum, during this time," Edward expressed his concern, "you still have to continue acting with The Harper Family. "
Edward believed that since they didn't want to alert them, they had to be ostentatious. The more covert they were, the more the mastermind behind it would relax their guard.
Cordelia took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down. "I understand. You can go out now and call Annabelle and Nolan in."
She knew what to do.
She thought to herself, 'The Harper Family wants the Douglas family's connections and social status. They want Annabelle to become the future heir of the Cunningham family. Since they want it so much, I will fulfill their wish!'
Cordelia scoffed and leaned against the headboard. "It's time to settle the score with these people."
"Breaking News! Annabelle from The Harper Family turns out to be the long-lost daughter of the Cunningham Family!"
"Oh my god, Annabelle is so lucky! She's actually the long-lost daughter of the Cunningham Family!"
"The Cunningham Family is a top-tier dynasty."
Cunningham Enterprises' office building is located next to Aeon Mall. Wilson would come to have lunch with Emily after work at noon.
"This Annabelle is really lucky. I can see that Annabelle has been buttering up the Cunningham family. Zelda might be able to go back to China," Emily said angrily.
Wilson took a bite of pizza and glanced at Emily. "She probably wouldn't dare temporarily."
In her mind, she thought, 'Because Ethan is in China, she probably won't come back. But if Howard lays hands on Ethan, then it's uncertain.'
"Wilson, Howard publicly mentioned that the Douglas family is going to have a union with the Cunningham family. Although he didn't specify which son, if it's Annabelle, she would choose Ethan, right?" Emily expressed her concerns. "Don't you think...?"
Before Emily could finish her sentence, she saw a message.
Annabelle went to Stellar Enterprises to meet Ethan.
"Hmph, she moves pretty quickly," Emily rolled her eyes. "If you ask me, you need to be more vigilant. If you want to capture a man's heart, you need to be fully prepared. Let me teach you a trick. Try it on Ethan tonight, I guarantee that the other daughters will have no appeal to him, he'll only think of you."
Wilson helplessly looked at her. "Don't give me those lousy ideas."
Emily wanted to teach Wilson how to be more charming.
"No, you're too reserved. Men need you to be reserved outside. What type of man wants a reserved wife in bed?" Emily hit the table. "You have to learn."
Emily thought to herself, 'I have received Mr. Ethan's gift, and I always have Mr. Ethan's happiness in mind.'
"Can I not learn it?" Wilson felt that the pizza was spicy and she was sweating all over.
"No, tonight you will go back and practice, or else your man will be stolen," Emily handed the teaching steps to Wilson.
Wilson covered her eyes shyly and couldn't look.
In her mind, she thought, 'This scene is too embarrassing.'
Wilson hastily took a few more bites, drank some Sprite, and left.
Emily anxiously shouted, "Wilson!"
Daniel was waiting for Wilson at the entrance of Cunningham Enterprises.
He was dressed casually, wearing a cap. He looked a bit disheveled.
The Douglas family's genes were indeed good. No matter what style of clothes Daniel wore, he had a high turnout rate.
Once upon a time, Wilson also thought Daniel was her one and only.
Unfortunately, it was all a lie.
"Do you need something?" Wilson feared Daniel. She only wanted to avoid him and have no interaction with him whatsoever.
"Wilson, I called you and Ethan answered," Daniel said softly. His voice was hoarse.
Wilson was taken aback. She thought to herself, 'Ethan must have been forwarding Daniel's calls.'
That's good, they won't bother me anymore.'
"Wilson, Ethan won't truly treat you well. Annabelle is now the Cunningham family's daughter, and they will eventually get married. I came from Stellar Enterprises today and saw Ethan and Annabelle behaving intimately," Daniel approached, trying to get closer to Wilson.
Wilson hastily stepped back. "Your words have no credibility."
"I'm sorry," Daniel looked at Wilson, choked up.
When Wilson looked up at Daniel, she noticed a wound on his face.
He must have gotten into a fight with someone.
Wilson didn't care and didn't want to hear him apologize. She turned around and tried to run towards the company.
"Wilson," Daniel didn't want to miss Wilson again. He nervously grabbed her wrist. "Serena and I have gotten a divorce, Wilson. Can't we be together again?"
"Let go of me," Wilson struggled forcefully but couldn't break free.
"Wilson, I know I was wrong, really," Daniel's eyes turned red. He was practically begging Wilson. "I don't believe that you truly don't love me anymore. You said you would always love me and never leave me."
"Let go of me!" Wilson yelled angrily.
"At the entrance of my company, harassing my assistant, do you think that's appropriate?" Nolan asked in a low voice.
