Chapter 752 Steven Makes Richard Disappear Forever

"A woman with no background at all, and you can't even handle her? How dare you?" Steven's voice was low.

Amara squinted her eyes and spoke provocatively. "I heard you couldn't even beat a bodyguard. Not only did Betty not love you more, but she also fell for someone else."

Amara laughed, thinking Steven had messed up.

Steven glared at Amara with anger. "Are you looking for trouble?"

Amara shook her head with a smile. "Let's get to business. Where did you take Mark?"

"That's not for you to ask," Steven warned.

"Mark is from the Douglas family. The Douglas Group has been gutted, and now the Raymond Group has taken over the mess. Ethan is ruthless with his own company. he has been a significant threat from the start. He's too upright, with almost no weaknesses, except for his wife, Jasmine."

From the beginning, they had been plotting to take over the Silverlight City market.

And Ethan was a thorn in their side.

But also someone they desperately wanted to collaborate with.

"If you want to work with Ethan, he won't agree," Steven said in a deep voice.

"The enemy of my enemy is our friend, but the enemy can't be too strong." Amara poured a glass of wine. "Since we know Ethan won't cooperate with us willingly, we have to get rid of him."

"Do you have a plan?" Steven turned his recliner to look at Amara.

"Use your rival, Richard, to throw Ethan off balance. Richard is Jasmine's brother. If something happens to Richard, won't Jasmine blame Ethan for not protecting him? We need to set a trap to make Jasmine and Ethan fall out, to separate the Cunningham family from the Raymond Group." Amara spoke calmly.

"I'll give you a month to get rid of Richard," Steven said in a deep voice.

"A month? In Silverlight City?" Amara tilted her head.

"Then lure him out," Steven squinted his eyes. "I'll take Betty out. By then, Richard will surely follow."

The security in Silverlight City is  strong, they can't act too openly.

But if they lure Richard to Silverwood, that's Steven's territory.

Not even Ethan, no one can leave Steven's territory alive.

"I hope we can work well together, Mr. Hughes." Amara stood up, trying to get closer to Steven.

Steven's cold eyes warned her.

"Mr. Hughes, are you a Christian? You're so frigid it's suspicious." Amara glared and left, feeling snubbed.

Steven slowly unclenched his fists and took out his phone to call Betty.

Unsurprisingly, Betty didn't answer, but he kept calling.

At last, Betty answered. "What do you want?" Betty asked. "A proper ex should disappear like you did a few years ago."

Steven laughed. "Betty, I can't sleep. I need you to scold me to feel better."

"You're crazy." Betty wanted to hang up.

"Betty, Richard hasn't come home yet, has he?" Steven asked with a smile.

Betty instantly tensed up, looking at Steven warily. "What do you want?"

"I don't want anything, just to hear your voice." Steven lay on the bed, exhausted. "Do you know how I've made it through these years? It was because of you that I got this far."

He saw Betty as his salvation, the only rainbow in his life.

Steven thought that once he solved everything, he could protect Betty and be with her.

"Steven, didn't you say that love wasn't everything to you, that it was insignificant in your life? What do you mean by now? Eating your words?" Betty sneered.

"I regret it." Steven buried his head in the pillow. "Betty, I regret it."

He deeply regretted letting Betty go, not dealing with those old folks sooner and leaving for so many years, which gave Richard a chance.

"Why did you change your heart?" Steven couldn't understand.  Wasn't love supposed to be the only and eternal thing?

Why did Betty fall for Richard?

"Love isn't eternal, nor is it the only thing. When disappointment and fear accumulate, it disappears. Steven, you're too scary," Betty's voice was a bit hoarse.

"You clearly loved me. Why don't you admit it?" Steven said sullenly.

"I never denied it. I indeed loved you," Betty said in a deep voice.

Steven's body stiffened for a moment, then he laughed. "That's good."

Love won't disappear. He would make Betty fall in love with him again.

"But now, I just hope you let me go, let me live an ordinary life. Please, can you?" Betty pleaded with Steven.

Could he let her, Richard, and the child go?

"Betty, the last time you begged me to save you. I've always been saving you," Steven said softly. "Because you begged me, I was willing to risk my life to save you. I dealt with all the threats for you, but when I went back, you weren't there waiting for me. Why?"

He was unwilling to accept it.

"Steven, don't make yourself sound so great. Are you trying to move yourself?" Betty interrupted Steven. "My husband is back. Goodbye."

Betty's residence.

Betty hung up the phone, breathing heavily as she leaned against the bed. She sat on the floor, nervously clutching her phone.

How could she make Steven give up?

"Mr. Brown is back," the nanny knocked on the door and sighed. "He drank a lot."

Richard had drunk too much again.

This time, it wasn't the family who got him drunk, he did it himself.

"Today, Malcolm and Abigail asked Mr. Brown for help again. They must have said something nasty," the nanny said softly.

Betty came out and looked at Richard, who was asleep on the couch. "I'll handle it. You can go."

After the nanny left, Betty called Ryan. "What happened today?"

She had told Richard not to see those family members.

"I heard Malcolm and Abigail went to Richard's workplace today, making trouble and asking for his help. Richard refused to see them, so they shouted in the lobby, saying Richard was no match for Steven," Ryan coughed. "Apparently, they also know Steven is back. Steven must have given them some benefits to provoke Richard."

This was Steven's psychological warfare.

From the beginning, Steven never intended for Richard to back down easily.

He not only wanted Richard to know he was the better man for Betty.

He also wanted Richard to disappear forever.
