Chapter 530:Perhaps There Is a Mole Inside LY

Jasmine eyed Tom suspiciously. "Connor sent you to monitor me, didn't he?"

Tom stepped out of the elevator, looking surprised. "No, I'm here to protect you."

"Protect me?" Jasmine was convinced he was spying.

Connor must be behind this. With Deborah back, he'd definitely support her. When Deborah and Avery fight over the Hawthorne inheritance, Connor would back Deborah.

"I need to step out for a bit," Jasmine said, biting her finger. "You stay here."

"No way, I'm here to protect you," Tom insisted. "Wherever you go, I'll drive."

Tom thought he was being dedicated, hoping for a bonus from Connor. But to Jasmine, it felt like surveillance.

Taking advantage of Tom's distraction, Jasmine secretly messaged Ethan: [Honey! SOS!]

Ethan was in a meeting with Brandon at Raymond Group when he got Jasmine's message.

"Where are you going? We're discussing important stuff here," Brandon snapped as Ethan abruptly turned to leave.

"Alright, your idea is good. Let's go with it," Ethan waved off. What important stuff? Was selling his own house the real deal?

Brandon rolled his eyes. "Your dad's already here. I can't stall much longer. I need to meet him."

Ethan walked to the door. "Do what you need to. You don't have to be nice to him."

Brandon raised an eyebrow. "If I make your dad grovel, isn't that disrespectful to you?"

"Someone like him doesn't deserve to be my dad. Even if you make him kneel, I won't say a word," Ethan said, quickly leaving.

Brandon watched Ethan with a hint of melancholy. When they started the business, he never thought Ethan could be so emotionally invested.

Back then, Ethan's career drive was intense.

Brandon even suspected someone like Ethan would end up alone.

But now, Ethan had a wife and kids, while he was still single.

He was no match for Ethan.

Jasmine used the excuse of going to the bathroom to shake off Tom and sneaked into the LY underground parking lot.

Thinking Ethan would come to pick her up soon, she hurried to leave.

But Tom was quick. He chased after her as soon as he noticed she was gone.

Jasmine stepped back in fear. "What do you want?"

Tom scratched his head. "I'm your special assistant, getting paid. If you disappear on my watch, I'm done for."

After graduating, he had been idle, not wanting to work. He was finally persuaded to take this job, which made his family very happy. If he lost it, he would let them down.

"I'm letting you off work," Jasmine said, a bit scared. Was Tom here to kidnap her? He must be in cahoots with Connor and Deborah.

Would Tom deceive Liam?

"I'm just starting my shift, and you're letting me off work?" Tom was shocked. Earning money this easily felt weird.

Plus, he was getting two paychecks.

Liam said Ethan would pay one, and Connor the other.

Such a sweet deal was rare.

"Don't come any closer," Jasmine warned, turning to run. Tom chased after her.

In the parking lot, a black sedan sped toward Jasmine.

Tom frowned, ran over, grabbed Jasmine, and rolled to the side, eyeing the driver warily.

"Can't you drive?" he started, but the driver reversed sharply toward them.

Tom pulled Jasmine behind a pillar, almost choking her with his grip. She wasn't hit by the car but struggled to breathe, slapping Tom's hand.

"Don't talk. Now's not the time to thank me. Remember to give me a bonus," Tom said, shielding her and watching the two people getting out of the car.

They were clearly prepared.

Jasmine leaned against the wall, gasping for air. She wasn't grateful; she had almost been strangled.

"Dude, stay out of this," one of them said, swinging a baton at Tom.

Tom, skilled in martial arts, had solid muscles and strong resistance to blows. The baton bent on his flexed back muscles.

Jasmine, still catching her breath, found the situation terrifying but also a bit amusing because Tom kept talking even while fighting.

"Buddy, how much are they paying you? This feels like a movie. Are you serious?"

"Buddy, take it easy. We're all just doing our jobs. No need to be so serious."

The attackers' faces changed with Tom's words. They wished they had a gun to shoot him.

Seeing they were serious, Tom got angry. "Buddy, I'm really mad now."

One held Tom back while the other moved toward Jasmine.

Tom, tall with a long reach, grabbed the one heading for Jasmine.

The attackers were agile and skilled, but brute force can counter finesse. Tom, a former decathlete, was incredibly strong.

Jasmine watched as Tom single-handedly held off the two attackers.

While fighting, he lectured, "I said, take it easy. We're all just doing our jobs. How much are they paying you?"

"Three million dollars for her life!" one of them snapped.

Tom paused, looking back at Jasmine in disbelief. "Her? She's worth three million dollars?"

Jasmine was angry. "I am worth three million dollars!"

"Watch out!" Jasmine yelled as the other guy pulled out a knife.

Tom frowned, grabbing the knife. The knife cut his palm. Blood dripped from his fingers.

"Fuck," Tom cursed. "No way, Ethan and Connor have to give me a raise."

He hadn't expected this job to involve bleeding.

At that moment, sirens blared, and the company's security rushed down.

Jasmine sighed in relief. This was LY's underground parking lot, and Richard's security was top-notch.

But she was curious: how did these people get in?

Maybe there was an inside mole.
