Chapter 724 Emily's Death is Related to Lily

Jasmine had been waiting on the couch for a long time, waiting for news from Raymond, but it never came.

Lily was also pacing anxiously. Just as she sat down, she saw Ethan arrive.

Jasmine was a bit surprised and glanced at the time. "You were still video chatting with me at eight this morning."

It was only five in the afternoon.

"The doctor said you should avoid flying," Jasmine said, choking up, suddenly having a bad feeling.

If the news was good, or if Emily had been found, Ethan wouldn't have come.

Ethan pulled Jasmine into his arms. "Liam drove me to Bostan, and I took a cruise from there."

The flight from Bostan to Kerea was only about an hour and twenty minutes.

Jasmine took a deep breath. "Tell me, did something happen?"

Ethan's grip on her tightened.

Jasmine clutched his collar, praying Emily would survive.

"Raymond went to confirm it. The deceased is indeed Emily," Ethan said hoarsely.

He knew Jasmine couldn't handle it, which was why he rushed over.

Over there, Lily's face turned pale instantly, and she took a step back, breathing rapidly.

How could this be?

"No way," Lily said, losing control and covering her mouth. "Impossible, they promised me they wouldn't kill Emily. They said as long as I did what they said, they wouldn't harm Emily!"

Ethan gave Lily a complicated look and frowned. "You should know very well why Emily was killed."

Lily shook her head, crying. "They said as long as I obediently followed their instructions and didn't cooperate with you, they would release Emily."

They had clearly agreed.

Ethan sighed. "You brought this on yourself."

This path was always a challenging one.

Jasmine stood numbly in front of Ethan, clutching his collar tightly, her whole body stiff.

Her fingers clenched so tightly they trembled.

When she lost control of her emotions, she wouldn't scream, but the physical symptoms were more painful than the psychological damage.

"Jasmine, take a deep breath. I won't let those who hurt her get away," Ethan said, nervously comforting Jasmine.

Jasmine slowly released her grip on Ethan's clothes and looked back at Lily with a complicated expression. "I want to see her. We'll bring her home."

Ethan nodded. "Okay, we'll bring her home."

The Kerean police were still investigating the killer. The kidnappers had already left the country before the body was found, and there was no way to trace them now.

"We found someone who knows. The kidnappers are also from San Fransisco, and their accents, there are a few from Bostan too," the police explained.

Raymond looked at Jasmine. "We've already applied for an out-of-state investigation. Emily's body needs to be cremated before it can be brought back."

Jasmine almost couldn't stand and was held by Ethan.

"I want to see her," Lily said, choking up.

"You shouldn't go. You're carrying the Powell family's twins; you can't afford any mishaps. Wait outside," Jasmine said, looking at Lily with a cold voice.

Lily lowered her head, tears falling to the ground. She knew Jasmine blamed her.

But she had no choice; she had tried her best.

It was Emily, who was too stubborn and too loyal to Jasmine.

In fact, Lily envied Jasmine. From the beginning, that envy slowly turned into jealousy.

Lily slowly clenched her hands, her eyes becoming fierce.

She wouldn't let anyone take away what she had now.

She wouldn't let anyone throw her back into hell.

If Jasmine and Ethan were destined to be enemies, she might as well eliminate them early.

Just like Sophia, it would be best if they died quietly.

With a cold smile, Lily looked at the person beside her and spoke in a low voice, "Did you take care of what I asked you to?"

"Rest assured, Madam," the person beside her replied in Kerean.

Lily straightened up and took a deep breath.

She thought, 'Don't blame me; the world wronged me first. Good people don't live long.'

The staff led Jasmine, Ethan, and Raymond into the morgue where Emily's body lay on a cold metal bed.

She was so quiet that Jasmine found it hard to adjust.

Covering her mouth with her hand, Jasmine walked over, trembling. "Emily, didn't you say you would always be with me?"

"Wake up," Jasmine said hoarsely.

"The deceased went through a lot of torture before death, with a broken right tibia, three broken ribs, and a broken left radius."

Ethan frowned and shook his head at the staff, signaling them to stop talking as it was agitating Jasmine.

Jasmine lowered her head, tears uncontrollable.

"Jasmine, don't let your tears fall on her. Let her go in peace," Raymond said softly, comforting Jasmine. "She's suffered enough in this life. She'll be happy in heaven."

Jasmine finally couldn't hold on and collapsed to the ground, crying. "Why? What happened? Those people had no reason to kill her!"

Jasmine couldn't understand why Emily had to die!

If those people were just threatening Lily not to cooperate with Ethan, their goal had already been achieved. Why did they still have to kill Emily?

"Maybe Emily knew some secret she shouldn't have," Raymond said, frowning.

"What secret?" Jasmine struggled to stand up, looking at Emily. "Emily, what do you want to tell me?"

"The deceased tried to escape multiple times but was caught each time. We found these at the scene," the Kerean police said, showing Jasmine the photos taken at the scene.

Jasmine's fingers trembled as she looked at the symbols Emily had drawn on the wall with her blood. What did they mean?

It was a strange shape, like an irregular oval, somewhat resembling a stomach.

"Stomach!" Raymond reacted first. "The stomach! The shape on the stomach medicine is just like this."

Ethan looked at the police. "Was the stomach scanned?"

The police shook their heads. "After confirming it was a homicide, we didn't perform an autopsy. We need the family's consent."

Ethan looked at Jasmine. "Emily has no family left. You decide for her."

Jasmine looked at the photos and spoke with difficulty. "Scan it first."

She couldn't let Emily die without knowing why.

She had to know the truth.

Why did Emily die?

The kidnappers had no reason to kill her!

What secret did Emily know that was worth her life?

The stomach scan results came out soon. Something was undigested, like a plastic bag containing something.

The forensic doctor performed an autopsy and took out a piece of paper wrapped in a plastic bag.

It was clear that Emily had written it when those people weren't paying attention, wrapped it in a plastic bag, and swallowed it.

It was a piece of paper stained with blood, written on a takeout menu.

With her last bit of strength, Emily had written on it and swallowed it.

Just so Jasmine could see the truth.
