Chapter 647 Who Is Secretly Protecting Jasmine?

In the hallway, Nolan leaned against the wall, staying quiet for what felt like forever.

He wasn't sure if all the choices he was making now would save him from future regrets.

"Mr. Cunningham, Jasmine got into a car accident this morning. It's probably got something to do with Mark and Claire," Elijah rushed over to say.

Nolan frowned. "An assistant of Howard's behaving so arrogantly?"

Elijah explained, "Mark's got someone backing him."

Nolan's face darkened as he headed out. "Did you find out anything?"

"Jasmine's looking into it and asked you to stay out of it for now," Elijah glanced at Nolan and added in a low voice. "Jasmine saw the news about Lawrence's death and couldn't reach Amelia. She wants you to look after Amelia and help if you can."

Jasmine couldn't handle everything herself, so she had to ask Nolan to step in.

Jasmine knew things between Amelia and Nolan were a bit tangled.

Elijah added, "She also said you should cherish Amelia, or you'll regret it."

Nolan paused for a moment.

Would he regret it?

Like Evan and Daniel, once lost, it could never go back to the way it was.

"Sir," Elijah saw Nolan standing by the car but not getting in and asked softly.

Nolan didn't say anything, turned around, and quickly walked toward the inpatient department.

He was also scared he'd regret it later.

At the Wilson family home, Benjamin had been dead for a while, but he hadn't been buried yet.

Karen couldn't wait to cremate Benjamin, so Tessa and the child couldn't do a paternity test to prove their relationship.

But Evan objected, believing that the child was Benjamin's son, and helped Tessa by suggesting they report to the police that there were suspicious circumstances surrounding Benjamin's death.

The police investigated and found that Benjamin had indeed died under unusual circumstances. Still, they hadn't found any evidence to prove it was murder, so the body remained at the forensic department.

"Bastard!" Karen's face was grim as she smashed a cup on the table.

"I raised you for so many years, and now you're helping Tessa against me!" Karen was scolding Evan.

Unfortunately, Evan wouldn't let her scold him anymore, and he wouldn't return to this home.

"Where is he? Still refusing to come back?" Karen was trembling with anger; her son was not siding with her but helping others against her.

How wonderful!

"Mr. Evan Wilson said his mother is now Evelina, and this is not his home," Larry said softly, feeling a bit guilty.

Karen was furious, standing up and flipping the table. "He's so over the top! Evelina? Does he think that by currying favor with Evelina, Alex will hand over everything from the Everhart family to him? Ridiculous!"

Karen seemed to have gone mad, but she couldn't catch Evan and had nowhere to vent her anger.

"Tell him to come see me! Or I'll die right here!" Karen used countless methods, and suicide threats were common.

They used to work because Evan still cared about their mother-son relationship, but not anymore.

"He said it won't work. Whether you live or die has nothing to do with him," Larry said, trembling.

Karen's anger was almost uncontrollable as she smashed things around the house. "That bastard!"

Outside the door, the maid ran in, panicked. "Madam, the Cunningham family's eldest daughter is here."

Karen frowned and looked at the maid. "Who did you say?"

"Jasmine from the Cunningham family," the maid said softly, lowering her head.

Surprise flashed in Karen's eyes. "What is she here for?"

The maid nervously lowered her head, and outside the door, Jasmine had already walked in with Tom.

Tom, like a rampaging big dog, was unstoppable.

Jasmine walked into the living room, looked at the messy environment on the floor, and sneered. "You're still the same, venting your anger on things or servants."

Karen's face darkened as she sat proudly on the sofa. "What brings you here?"

Jasmine glanced at the maid and Larry. "Too many ears around. Let's talk in private."

"What's so secret?" Karen said coldly.

"Oh, remember when you framed me, forged evidence to accuse me of extortion? Didn't you pay Alice Jordan two hundred grand to take the fall?" Jasmine said with a faint smile, sitting on the sofa. "Well, she recanted."

Karen was stunned for a moment, her face changing as she sat up straight. "Everyone, out."

The maid and Larry exchanged a glance and walked out.

Jasmine signaled Tom to wait outside as well.

Tom, worried, stood by the door.

"What are you getting at?" Karen looked at Jasmine.

"Alice, the maid back then, took the blame for you and Claire, pocketing a two hundred grand bribe. She said the money came from Claire," Jasmine said, smiling meaningfully at Karen.

Karen's cleverness lay in her involvement in everything without ever showing her face.

When Jasmine's case was brought up again, Claire and Karen had gone to great lengths to protect themselves.

Claire wasn't as smart as Karen; she gave Alice two hundred grand to buy her silence.

"Since Claire paid the hush money, what does it have to do with me?" Karen was a bit flustered, not because of the crime, but because people of their status couldn't have any blemishes.

"Yes, Claire paid the hush money, what does it have to do with you? Right? But Alice mentioned two people, you and Claire. Considering your years of raising me, I'm here to remind you," Jasmine said calmly, her lips curling up. "You get what I'm saying, right?"

Karen, being so smart, must have left herself a way out. If something happened, she would step on Claire to get out.

However, Jasmine had already cut off her escape route.

"Madam! The police called, saying you're involved in a case and need to go in for questioning." The maid quickly ran in, panicked.

Karen's breath tightened.

She thought, 'If the media reports this, it isn't just a matter of reputation.'

Jasmine was now the daughter of the Cunningham family. If the charges of falsely accusing Jasmine were confirmed, the Wilson Group would be affected and implicated. She had just secured control of the Wilson Group and couldn't afford to lose it.

"After all, I raised you for twenty-one years." Karen's voice softened a bit.

"And I called you mom for twenty-one years," Jasmine said with a smile. "As long as all the charges go to Claire, I won't pursue it further."

"Are you sure?" Karen squinted her eyes.

"I'm sure." Jasmine nodded.

The priority was to deal with Claire first, send her in, and then slowly deal with the others.

"I know what to do." Karen snorted coldly, looking Jasmine up and down. "You've changed a lot."

Jasmine stood up, straightening her clothes. "People always change."

"I heard Ethan is in trouble?" Karen probed.

"Who did you hear that from?" Jasmine smiled. "He's at home taking care of our kids."

Karen frowned, her back tensing up, feeling that Jasmine was a bit terrifying.

Having raised Jasmine for twenty-one years, she knew how weak Jasmine's character was. The more she knew how easy it was to bully her in the past, the more she realized how terrifying she was now.

Walking out of the living room, Jasmine glanced at the Wilson family's yard, where she had lived for twenty-one years.

Now, it meant nothing to her.

Walking out of the Wilson family, Jasmine was about to get in the car.

In the corner, someone was hiding with a knife, ready to rush out and attack Jasmine.

Suddenly, someone behind knocked out the person with the knife and slowly dragged them to a hidden spot.
