Chapter 536 The Bastard's Punishment Has Finally Arrived

Cordelia didn't want to give him any attention.

He was being punished, after all.

"Cordelia, open the door," Willian demanded angrily.

His pride had taken a hit, especially from that venomous woman, Sophia! He never really knew her. Sophia, who had been by his side for years, turned out to be so evil.

He used to think Sophia was kind, but she was more poisonous than a snake.

Anger, guilt, and shame churned inside him, making it hard for Willian to accept.

"Cordelia, open the door. We haven't divorced yet. This is the Cunningham family, and I'm still the man of the house," Willian barked, telling Larry to open the door.

But it was clear who really ran the household.

"Sir, please stop shouting. Our lady hasn't thrown you out yet out of consideration for old times' sake," Larry sighed from inside.

"Open the door for me. I am the head of the Cunningham family," Willian insisted, typical of someone taking out his frustrations at home.

But he was in the wrong place.

"Sir, do you know what it means to be the head of the household?" Larry sighed. "The head of the household is supposed to support the family. For years, it's been Cordelia holding this family together. You know that deep down."

Willian fell silent, angry at Larry's lecture. "I may not come home often, but I'm still the head of this family. I'm Cordelia's husband and the father of the children."

"Sir, you've started a new family and neglected this one. Be realistic, you can't have it all. You've gained a new family, which means you've lost this one. I've been with Ms. Richardson for many years and have seen how this family has weathered storms. You should have a conscience."

Cordelia had been tied to this family long enough.

She deserved her freedom.

If Willian had any conscience, he would sign the divorce papers and let her go.

Willian frowned, clearly displeased. "It's not your place to tell me what to do."

Larry sighed. He was actually getting angry out of shame.

With such a personality, if it weren't for Bill, he would have squandered the family fortune long ago.

Willian was selfish and arrogant, lacking ability but caring about his image. He could have had a perfect family—a wonderful wife, three obedient sons, and a beautiful daughter. Yet he chose to throw it all away.

Larry sighed repeatedly. "If you had been devoted to the Douglas family, even without ability, she would have supported you. You could have maintained a respectful relationship and kept the family together. Jasmine wouldn't have been secretly swapped. It's all your fault."

Willian froze, standing still with cold fingers.

Mentioning Jasmine, even as an irresponsible father, pierced his heart.

She had been swapped and gone through so much. Those years, Cordelia had been depressed, almost mad, for the sake of the children. Whenever he came home, she would go crazy, claiming it was all Sophia's doing.

At that time, he firmly believed Sophia was a good, kind woman, so he didn't listen to or believe anything Cordelia said, even thinking she was insane.

Now, thinking back, Sophia's cruelty knew no bounds. There was nothing she wouldn't do.

Maybe Jasmine was really swapped by her.

The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. Willian gritted his teeth and turned to confront Sophia, but she had somehow surrounded herself with mercenaries.

The more he thought about it, the tighter he clenched his teeth. Sophia was using his money to hire mercenaries to beat him! He really was a fool.

Willian stood there, unsure whether to leave or stay.

Soon, the driver came back with Justin and Joe.

Larry cracked the door open just enough to slip out and get the kids, blocking Willian from entering.

Willian angrily tried to push past Larry. "This is my home!"

Larry stood firm. "Sir, please don't make it difficult for us."

Willian's face turned red with anger. He looked at Joe and Justin. "Joe, Justin, I'm your grandpa," he said, squatting down and reaching out to them.

Joe glanced at him. "I don't know you."

Willian froze. "Joe, I'm your grandpa. Remember? I came back a few days ago and last Christmas. I even held you when you were little."

Joe looked at him. "My grandpa is Daniel, not you."

He had asked Grandma why Grandpa didn't come home, and she said Grandpa had another family and wouldn't come back. "Grandma said you have another family now."

Willian stood there, his hands stiffly frozen in mid-air.

Even the kids were so resistant to him. He must have really messed up all these years.

"Joe, Justin, come inside," Cordelia called from the yard.

Joe and Justin turned and ran into the yard.

Willian stood up, looking at Cordelia standing at the door.

Today, she was dressed elegantly, with a white shawl and her golden hair casually draped without any adornment.

Cordelia was indeed beautiful. Time hadn't taken away her beauty; it had only made her more mature and composed.

Willian looked at Cordelia, suddenly recalling what Larry had said earlier about not appreciating a good life.

Actually, it wasn't that he didn't love Cordelia; he just loved his pride more.

He resented the arranged marriage and family pressure, resented Cordelia for always being better than him, and resented her for being indifferent to him, unlike Sophia, who was passionate and dependent. So, he sought validation from other women.

When they first got married, Willian always wanted to conquer Cordelia, thinking it would be an achievement to conquer a woman who was better than him and more favored by the elders.

But over time, he realized he couldn't conquer her or get any tender response from her. He became impatient and annoyed, letting his pride get the better of him, seeking validation elsewhere.

"Cordelia, let's talk," Willian said, looking disheveled, his face swollen and bruised from being beaten by Sophia's people.

Cordelia sneered as if she had always known this day would come for Willian because Sophia was never a good person.

"Why did you get beaten up?" Cordelia asked indifferently, not letting Larry drive him away but also not inviting him in.

Willian didn't dare force his way in, standing outside the iron gate and speaking softly, "Evelyn is not my daughter."

Willian had always liked Evelyn; at least, he always thought she resembled him.

"When Sophia's daughter was born, I had a paternity test done. There's no mistake; she's your biological daughter," Cordelia said coldly, holding Joe and Justin's hands as she turned to leave.

"Impossible. I just did a paternity test with Evelyn, and Sophia admitted Evelyn is not my daughter," Willian said, puzzled.

Cordelia stopped in her tracks, suddenly turning to look at Willian. "You said Sophia admitted Evelyn is not your daughter?"
